1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/17/2015

I was driving from pekin to work in peoria and noticed that I had a little less than 1/4 tank of fuel so I figured I would be able to get gas on the way home. When I checked the trip gage it said that I had 8 miles to go before I ran out of gas. That is a huge difference than what my gas gauge said. I stopped and got gas immediately and while doing so I noticed that it took 17 gallons of gas. If it had actually had a 1/4 tank in it there is no way that I should be able to put 17 gallons of gas in an 18 gallon tank. I have called my Nissan dealership about it and was told there was no recollection of this being an issue. This isn't the first time it has happened but I cannot remember the first time it happened. Since this has been happening I have been keeping track of my mileage and filling up according to my mileage records. I hope this can get fixed soon I am a mother and the last thing I would want to happen is to get stranded on the side of the road with my baby in the car because of an error that wasn't my fault.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

When I fill up the fuel tank the fuel gauge does not move from end (e) to full (f) even after filling up the complete tank. It takes up to 20 to 25 minutes of driving before the fuel gauge gets to full (f) position.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

I ran out of gas on two separate occasions. Both times I thought I had plenty of gas due to what the gauge said. The first time, I had my 2 kids with me and it ran out as I was going around an unfamiliar curve in the interstate. The van became very hard to steer. Lucky for me I was in a lane next to a shoulder so I was able to fight it off of the road. It was very hard to stop at that point. The second time, I had 7 people in the car including my 2 kids and 4 of their young friends. This time it ran out just as I came to a curve on a road where people tend to speed. I did not have the strength to keep the van from crossing into the oncoming lane, but lucky for us, nobody was in the other lane at that time. I was able to coast off of the opposite side of the road. Both times I missed very important meetings but was thankful to be alive. I have since learned to reset my mileage counter when I fill up and watch to make sure I don't push it to far, but always afraid I may guess incorrectly. I am probably filling up at 1/2 tank for fear of stalling again with my kids in the van. After the first time, I thought I received a notice about a problem with the gauge. I had my van in for service at the local Nissan dealer and asked them about it. They looked it up and said they did not see anything about it. That was around 2015/03. I am tired of constantly filling up, so I am looking into how to get it fixed. That is how I found out about all the other complaints about the faulty gauge issue.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Minutes after filling my Nissan Quest's fuel tank, I drove onto the freeway I then observed my gas gauge drop to empty and the " low fuel " light come on as well as the check engine light. When I reached my destination and turned the vehicle off and back on again to show my brother the problem everything was normal again. A few days later I was driving home on the freeway and ran out of gas having to call the state police. There was no indication that I was low on fuel. I visited a mechanic and he told me the complexity of the fuel system and the different sensors and advised me to report this problem. On may 20th I again filled up the tank and the fuel indicator light came on as well as the check engine.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/22/2014

Going across the betsy ross bridge, from philadelphia to cherry hill, about 9pm to get gas as well as dinner. The engine lost power and then shot off when we were not quite half way over the bridge. There wasn't allot of traffic, so I was able to pull over onto the shoulder and put my hazard lights on. Tried to start the car but it wouldn't turn over. The gas gauge was at a 1/4 tank of gas. A port authority police office arrived within 10 minutes and pushed our van to the rest of the way over the bridge to get us out of the traffic as the shoulder is very narrow. Got to the bottom of the bridge and coasted to a side area where we could wait for help. Multiple attempts to start to the car failed. Help arrived about an hour later with gas can. Put about 2 gallons of gas into the car. Car started right up. We went the rest of the way right to a gas station. The van has a 20. 1 gallon tank. Took almost 19 gallons at fill up. Which means we ran out of gas even though the gas gauge said otherwise. After filling up the tank, the fuel gauge was reading full. I found NHTSA recall bulletin #10v07400. The problem is an exact match for my problem. Specifically there is an issue with the fuel sender mis-reporting the gas level. Found various news reports that list and do not list the Nissan Quest as part of the recall.
