9 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2016

Airbag warning light came on in car. I took the car to Nissan they told me it was the sensor in the passenger seat cushion. They reset it and told me the airbag would deploy if the passenger had their seatbelt on. I had a passenger in the car with their seatbelt on and the warning light that states #2 passenger airbag is deactivated. Nissan had told be before they reset the sensor that it would cost $1000 to replace the cushion with the sensor in it. I dont know if I believe the car or Nissan, will the airbag deploy or not. I dont have $1000 to replace cushion and when I contacted Nissan they told me sorry your car is no longer under warranty and there is no recall out for this airbag. I dont feel safe driving a passenger in my car not knowing if the airbag will deploy or not. I do not want anyone getting hurt or worse. Is there anything I can do?.

10 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

"takata recall" I bought a Nissan Rogue in 2008. Soon afterward the sensor went off to tells us the the passenger-side airbag was off. That light has stayed on ever since. About eight years ago, the airbag warning light began flashing. When I took it to Nissan, the technician said the sensor in the seat was faulty, and it would cost over $500 to fix. I thought that was too much, and I thought it should be covered by the dealer, but they would not fix it. It's been broken/flashing ever since. When the recall for takata airbags began, I recognized that my car was suffering from the common complaints about faulty airbags, and since people were dying I was concerned. I checked online and found that 2008 Rogues were part of the recall, so I again took my car to Nissan, but they said my particular car was not covered by the recall, though many 2008 Rogues were. I then called NHTSA's vehicle hotline, and the person recommend I call a corporate Nissan north american number (1-800-647-7261). I talked to a nice woman who said she would turn in my complaint and someone would get back to me the next day. A man called and was again told that my Rogue was not in the recall and that Nissan, therefore, would not cover this problem. I'm particularly worried as I live in hawaii, which is very moist, and this seems to increase the risk of the airbag going off. Whether it's a takata aribag or not, this was clearly a faulty product, so I feel it should be fixed by the dealer.

14 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

I was driving down the interstate when my airbag warning light started flashing, and the "airbag off" indicator lit up for the passenger side airbag. After doing some research I discovered that this problem was possibly related to the OCS sensor malfunctioning, and that this was a known issue with a recall (08v521000). I called the recall center and was told that my car was not covered under this recall, and that I should take my vehicle to the dealer. I took my car to the dealer on 10-2-13 for them to run a diagnostic. Was informed that in fact, the OCS had gone bad; but again told that it was not covered under the recall, and would cost $2819 to fix. I have since escalated my case to the regional level, given that my car has less than 50k miles, was purchased brand new, and a sensor should last well beyond that! I was told by the regional office to submit a complaint, and that they will further research my situation.

15 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2013

I own a 2008 Nissan Rogue which I purchased new. The air bag warning light has recently started blinking on the instrument panel. The dealer told me that it was a failure of the occupant passenger sensor. There was a recall on the same model year for the same issue (campaign id number: 08v521000) but the dealer told me that my VIN was not included. The failure listed in the recall is the exact same failure experienced in the vehicle. Then the dealer told us that it would cost around $3000 to repair!!! we have contacted Nissan but so far they have not agreed to do anything. Since day one, the passenger sensor has always been erratic and often would not work when a passenger was in the seat. We mentioned it to the dealer numerous times but they never agreed to fix it. Now the entire airbag system in the car in not functioning and is creating a safety hazard.

23 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

I purchased my Nissan Rogue in 2010. Immediately after purchasing it a red warning light displayed on the dash indicating an airbag problem. A mechanic diagnosed the problem as the airbag sensor in the front passenger seat that determines if someone is seated there or not. I was unable to afford a new sensor. I checked NHTSA recalls and located recall# 08v521000. While this sounds like the problem my Nissan Rogue is experiencing, per my VIN, my car is not included in the recall.

24 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2010

I have tried several times to get the airbag, or airbag warning light, fixed. After owning the Rogue for a couple of years ( I bought it new), the airbag light began flashing in the car. When I took it to Nissan, they said it was a faulty sensor in the seat and it would take several hundred (I recall it being over $500, but it's so long ago I may be wrong)to fix it. I thought that too much, but when the takata recalls began, and people began to die, I became more concerned. I live in hawaii, which is very hot and humid. The reality is either the sensor or the airbag has not worked properly from nearly the time I bought the car new. It's obviously faulty, and possibly dangerous. I feel the manufacturer should fix it.
