2 Horn Assembly problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/05/2020

We last used the car at 2:30pm and parked it in our driveway. It was stationary and unused for about 4. 5 hours. At about 7pm we heard the horn go off. It was a steady blowing of the horn. I opened the front door, realized it was our car, and grabbed my keys to start the car to see if that would make the horn stop. When I opened the drivers door of the car I saw the orange flames and thick black smoke. I ran into the house, had my wife call 911 and I grabbed the house fire extinguisher. The fire started on the drivers side of the car either right below the steering wheel or on the left sidewall where the driver's left leg would rest. I did my best putting out the flames from the drivers side but had to go to the riders side to put out the left panel by the drivers legs. The fire was probably 95% put out when the fire department and police department showed. Because the front hood release latch was severely damaged by the fire the fire department had to force the hood open to check for fire in the engine compartment. The fire department also removed parts of dashboard that were burnt to check behind to make sure the fire was out. It was towed away about an hour later. The car was "totaled" a week later by my insurance company.

3 Horn Assembly problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

There is a problem with the clock spring in the steering wheel. There are several people who have posted on the internet the same problem ( this was how I discovered it was the clock spring). None of the controls on the steering wheel work as well as the horn does not work. When you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left ( I relieve it's to the left) the horn will then work. I find this to be a safety issue since I can not alert another driver using my horn. I'm less concerned about the controls on the steering wheel working. From the research I have completed I am not sure if this problem affects the air bag or not. I believe there is a wire hook up to the air bag.

4 Horn Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/22/2018

12/22/2018 my Nissan Rogue caught fire parked in my driveway. We were only alerted because the horn defaulted because of the fire. Fire department extinguished the fire with some difficulty. They assured us it was electrical. Insurance CO. Totaled the car. Upon my own research this has happened many times with this make and model. Nissan has not accepted responsibility in any of them. Thank god no one was injured. The stress and financial responsibility lays with the customers.

5 Horn Assembly problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 11/16/2018

While driving on the high way I was going to use my cruse control and when I pushed it it was not working. After that day all my other buttons on my steering wheel slowly started to stop working. Then while I was driving last night on a city street a car was going to come into my lane while and I went to honk my horn and it no longer worked.

6 Horn Assembly problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

1. Nissan refuses to take any responsibility for using dunlop 7000a/s 225/55/18 tires on this vehicle which are dangerous in any condition besides dry road conditions these tires are inherently defective also filed complaint with goodyear tire which refuses to acknowledge any issues with this tire. 2. The traffic feature of the navigation system does not work. After 20 hours on the phone with siriusxm they advised me this is a Nissan issue. Nissan also refuses to take any action. 3. The radio turns on and off or the source of the media changes when you blow the horn also Nissan has no solution or fix for this problem.

7 Horn Assembly problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

The vehicle caught fire while parked overnight in a garage. The entire vehicle was engulfed in smoke and much of the interior driver's side melted with the heat. My family woke in the middle of the night to the sound of the horn continuously blaring. We discovered a smoldering fire inside the car which was extinguished by the fire department. The vehicle was removed from our property and is believed to be a total loss. We later discovered a recently-issued recall for corrosion of the electrical harness below the floor mats, causing a short in the electrical panel - this appears to be the cause of the incident but it is currently under investigation by our insurance company and Nissan north America.
