Once a year my car won't start, I get it towed to a dealership and they always say nothing is wrong but recommend getting a new battery even though the battery is not failing. So every year they try to get me to buy a new battery and warranty won't cover my battery because its not failing. I've had them run other test like parasitic draw and they say they find nothing. Every year I deal with this issue and have to deal with getting my car towed and usable for a couple days then magically starts working.

The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for the state inspection, the contact was informed that two unknown sensors had failed. An independent mechanic reset the unknown sensor codes and advised the contact to return after 100 miles. The contact followed the instructions and returned to the state inspection; however, the contact was informed that the failures persisted, and the vehicle failed inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

My car caught fire, and it fits the description of the recall from other 2017 Rogues but wasn't not listed on the recall list. They are fixing the body harness, and it was an electrical fire.

On November 17, my 2025 Nissan Rogue caught fire after my hour commute to work. During my commute, there were no warning signs on the dash for the entire duration. Got to the office, parked the vehicle, and within a few minutes a coworker called me to let me know the car was up in flames. The fire quickly intensified and got hot enough to melt the hood, and made its way into the interior after it shattered the windshield. The fire started in the engine compartment, near the battery. The insurance company has a fire investigator attempting to determine the cause of the fire. The car had approximately 12,000 miles.
The engine failed while driving on the interstate at 65+ mph. The malfunction indicator lights came on and beeped loudly, including engine malfunction and awd malfunction (which I don't have). The vehicle lost power, and the engine began making a frightening noise. I had to get over several lanes with no working gas pedal, and I'm lucky nobody was hurt. I had to be towed thirty miles to the nearest dealership. The dealership, who didn't answer when I called ahead to let them know I was coming, was unhelpful, and employees made jokes about just trading it in instead of fixing it. They said it could be months, and that there's no remedy for the recall. I have to wait until they re-open on Monday to speak with anybody. The only symptom prior was that sometimes the vehicle wouldn't recognize my key fob being near/in the vehicle, but I thought it was a battery problem. I thankfully knew about the recall and mentioned it to the dealership, but they don't seem to be agreeable to loaning me a vehicle in the meantime, so this will be a difficult repair process.

The cvt transmission in my 2018 Nissan Rogue sport is malfunctioning and poses a serious safety hazard. The vehicle hesitates, loses power during acceleration, and displays warning lights while driving. This failure creates extremely dangerous situations, especially when merging into traffic, accelerating from a stop, or crossing intersections. Despite the widespread cvt issues in Nissan vehicles and identical symptoms reported in other Rogue models, Nissan refused to repair my cvt because they claim the Rogue sport is not included in the extended cvt warranty. I also requested goodwill assistance due to the clear safety risk, but this was denied as well. The dealer quoted me around $1,500 just to diagnose the cvt problem, with repair costs likely much higher. It is unreasonable for a critical safety component to fail at this mileage and for Nissan to reject all support. This issue continues to occur unpredictably, and the vehicle can suddenly lose power during normal driving, putting me and others at serious risk. Nissan has refused responsibility despite this being a well-documented, safety-related cvt defect. I am filing this complaint because the malfunction poses a risk of crashes and injuries, and Nissan has declined to address a known safety problem.
While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost all engine power without warning and rapidly decelerated in traffic. This created a severe safety risk, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue was later connected to open recall r25a8, involving engine bearing failure and sudden loss of power. The dealership confirmed that no inspection procedure or repair remedy exists and stated that they have no timeline for when Nissan will provide one. Despite this, the dealer returned the vehicle to me and claimed it was safe to drive, even though the problem remains unresolved. Nissan consumer affairs refuses to communicate in writing and only provides verbal phone calls. Each time they call, they state that they will “provide an update in three days,” but no real progress or written documentation has been provided. Meanwhile, I am left with a vehicle that experienced a complete loss of power on the freeway and remains unsafe to operate. Independent diagnostics showed multiple critical fault codes involving the engine, ecm, abs pump motor, and brake control modules. Warning lights appeared only after the failure; there were no warnings prior to the incident. The safety defect is ongoing, unresolved, and there is currently no available remedy from the manufacturer, leaving the vehicle unsafe and posing continued riski am requesting a full buyback of the vehicle with compensation for all related losses. I have already communicated this request to Nissan, and as mentioned above, they only call with delayed updates and do not resolve the issue.

Engine malfunction power reduce service now wed Aug 20. My 2023 Rogue was at the dealership debating that thye can fix the recall because there is no remedy for the inspection for the recall. My truck stayed at the shop until October. This passed Friday October 31 while driving and picking up donations I began to get on the freeway and the same message happened. I couldn't go over 25mph the dealership was 28 minutes away. My safety was a risk it was the on ramp of the freeway and it was all freeway to get to the dealership. The food donations I picled up were at risk of not be able. To be served to shelter residents. I receibed and email stating that the fuel injectors and egr valve need to replace immediately totatling almost 5,000 after just paying $1700 last month. This is the second time since August with this message but the check engine light has been going on and off with alerts in my car amd Nissan app for over 6 months.
The car would not start after it rained all day. I had it towed from my job at walmart to firestone and they said it was an electrical problem and that I need to have it towed to the dealership . So I had it towed to the dealership and they called me the next day and said it was an engine harness. They also told me that this car was bought in March the 12th by the previous owner for the same problem. I brought this car from drivetime on July the eleventh and they did not let me know that this car needed major work. Now they refuse to help me solve the problem.
This is a supplemental complaint to NHTSA id #11604939. On October 25, 2025, passport Nissan in alexandria, virginia diagnosed my 2016 Nissan Rogue with fault code p17f1, which indicates a known cvt transmission failure. The technician documented drivability issues including hesitation, slipping, and pulsing during acceleration. The diagnostic sheet recommended full cvt replacement. The dealership submitted a warranty request to Nissan’s diagnostic validation team, and internal documentation shows a full transmission job totaling $6,996. 44. Nissan classified the failure as warrantable under goodwill. Despite this, Nissan later offered only a partial valve body repair with a 50/50 cost split and a 3-day deadline. This contradicts Nissan’s own technical service bulletin, which states that if fault code p17f1 returns after reprogramming, the transmission must be replaced. The dealership’s own technician confirmed the failure was warrantable and recommended full replacement. This misrepresentation minimizes a known safety defect and compromises consumer protection. The issue has been confirmed by a dealership technician, documented in service records, and submitted to Nissan’s internal warranty team. The vehicle experienced hesitation and loss of power during acceleration, which posed a safety risk while driving. This reflects a broader pattern of concealment and avoidance of full liability for transmission failures across Nissan vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential safety defect and deceptive repair practice. The component is available for inspection upon request, and all documentation has been submitted to the virginia attorney general’s consumer protection section and I am prepping for other filings.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue sport. The contact stated that upon entering and closing the door, the message "door ajar" was displayed. The dome lights failed to turn off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined there was a failure with the electrical system for the crumple zone; the occupant sensor, ignition, and that the voltage was low. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
Nissan chime speaker unbelievably loud at car start up. The seat belt chimes and any chime that comes from the dash speaker is louder than normal. The speaker is “ inst panel speaker 24832-6ra0a. “ I have only had this car for one year this November. It happened for a few days during the first month or two having the car then it went back to normal, now it is doing it again and has lasted a month. Seems to happen only when it’s cold outside. Sometimes chime will start normal then grow increasingly loud.

To whom it may concern, I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a sudden and complete failure of the body control module (bcm) in my 2015 Nissan Rogue. This failure has resulted in a complete "no-start" condition, rendering the vehicle inoperable without warning. The problem occurred on or about [date of breakdown, if known]. The vehicle would not start, despite the ignition powering on. A professional diagnosis was performed, which confirmed that the body control module had failed and was not sending the required signal to the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) to allow the vehicle to start. The technician's notes state: "found no signal from bcm to ipdm to start vehicle. " I have since learned that this is a known manufacturer issue, documented in Nissan technical service bulletin (TSB) ntb16-024, titled "no start, mil on, dtc u1000, u1010, c110a, p1614, p1615, p1630, p1631 (reprogram bcm or replace ipdm). " the diagnosis and attempted repair on my vehicle perfectly match the procedure outlined in this TSB. Safety concern: while a"no-start" condition may not seem like a traditional safety hazard, the sudden and unpredictable nature of this failure presents a significant safety risk. A vehicle that becomes completely inoperable without warning can strand drivers and passengers in potentially dangerous situations, such · in the middle of intersections or busy roadways. · in isolated areas with no access to help. · during extreme weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, storms). · while transporting individuals with medical needs. The failure of a critical electronic component like the bcm, which is responsible for numerous vehicle functions, at only 50,000 miles indicates a serious and potentially widespread defect in materials or workmanship. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this failure pattern in 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles. Existence of a TSB and numerous complaints from other owners online suggest a major defect.
On oct 17,2025. While driving 35 mph on my to drop off my niece to her doctor appointment. My new 2024 Nissan Rogue started to shake and engine light started to blank and cut off power and stopped on the road. Putting our lives at risk for accident on the road. Error code : p2563 and p2565. I took it to the dealership antwerpen Nissan in clarksville, MD. Were I purchased the car brand new in 2024. The system check showed that Nissan turbo had failed a defective safety recall and I need a new engine for my car after less then 1 year. The dealership would not honor this dangerous safety recall issue from Nissan has on the turbo engine as there is a active recall on 2022 - 2024 Nissan Rogue on the vc- turbo engine. Nissan and antwerpen Nissan have not given me any help to fix this defective turbo engine that is putting a lot of drivers like myself at safety risk for a accident on the road. I would like to file a complaint in this matter to get it resolved and fixed on my 2024 Nissan Rogue sv with a new turbo . To fix the defective recall vc- turbo from Nissan. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My 2019 Nissan Rogue sport is affected by recall 23v-093, related to the jackknife key potentially collapsing while driving and shutting off the vehicle. The only remedy currently offered is a spacer inserted into the key fob to permanently prevent the blade from folding. This disables the folding feature — a core function of the product — and turns a jackknife key into a permanently extended blade. I consider this an unacceptable fix. It does not restore the key’s intended design or function. No alternate solution (such as a properly redesigned or replacement fob) is offered. My dealer confirmed the “repair” is only the plastic spacer. Nissan consumer affairs escalated my case, but the call was dropped during transfer and I could not reach a resolution. I have not experienced a shutdown incident, but I am filing this complaint because the offered recall remedy removes a core feature and does not constitute a true repair. Nissan should be required to provide a fix that both eliminates the safety risk and restores original functionality.

Everytime it rains water leaks in under drivers side dash filling my floorboard and my window and radio malfunction, probably from water in dashboard.
The car door lock actuator failed prematurely. Part should last 10 to 20 years. It's not locking the door or if it is locked it won't let you in or out. Big issue regarding safety. I know past models had a recall. Unfortunately haven't heard anything on it for my model year. Getting repair done for my own safety out of pocket.

Driver’s side door no longer locks and unlocks without physical use of the manual key. Car did not experience damage. The locking actuator stopped working randomly and has not worked, resulting in the car being unknowingly unlocked and subsequently broken into.
The fuel gauge has failed. The ac unit has been finicky since I purchased the vehicle and has already received one repair. Fuel gauge has been reading incorrectly for 2 weeks now. Read that it is a common issue for the Nissan Rogue sports. A few days ago my forward collision warning came on and said system error. There were no objects in front of me or stuck to the vehicle.
My rear hatch door will not open manually or automatically due to torrential downpour that leaked into the rear hatch door while fully closed and locked. That rain water made its way into the electrical component causing the door to no longer operate or even open. The dealership is aware of the issue with several other vehicles of the same year make and model and have not put a recall out to fix the issue. So here I am, reporting the issue to you now in hopes to get a recall put out there so myself and other 2017 Nissan Rogue owners can have the issue resolved. For the record, we have my car serviced every 5,000 miles so there were plenty of opportunities for the dealership to make us aware that there was the 1st issue on this car back in 2021, but they did not tell us or even ask if they could fix a known issue.
Nhtsa complaint statement vehicle information 2018 Nissan Rogue sl awd VIN: 5n1at2mv8jc725340 component affected power train – rear differential / awd electric coupling assembly summary of problem the rear differential electric coupling assembly failed, causing awd malfunction and unsafe driving conditions. Nissan issued technical service bulletin ntb20-069 acknowledging this defect on 2014-2020 Rogue awd vehicles built before certain vins. My vehicle’s VIN is within the affected build range, yet I was told it is not covered because it is “not part of the recall. ” safety concerns failure of the awd coupling affects vehicle handling, especially in wet or slippery conditions, creating a significant safety hazard. Request I believe this issue should be treated as a formal recall so that affected owners are not left with expensive, unsafe repairs for a known defect.
I started my vehicle, everything seemed fine, but once I reached my destination, the vehicles auto start/off activated which was normal. I was in a school line to pick up my child, once picked up my child and the auto start reactivated, that's when the problems be can. Once I exceeded 40 mph the car began to jerk violently, and as I tried to move over to the side of the road I couldn't fast enough the speed of the vehicle was locked at 5mph with the check engine light coming on and the "auto-start/off" indicator flashing, the violent jerking seemed to al so effect the vehicles air conditioning.
Engine started smoking, burning smell, exhaust smoking, stopped working, won't drive anymore, won't start , if do get it started it idles high then crashes. No warning lights. Coolant isn't leaking but it's using all reserve coolant. No longer drivable.
The screen turns off suddenly while the vehicle is in use. Additionally, the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system is either deactivated or displays as “off” when the car is started. The sudden deactivation of the aeb system compromises the vehicle’s ability to automatically brake in critical situations, increasing the risk of a collision. The screen turning off could also limit access to important vehicle information or controls, further impacting safety. No warning lamps appeared prior to the failure. The issue with the screen and aeb deactivation happens when the vehicle is started, but there were no prior warnings before this started occurring. After so many recalls, I no longer feel safe with this vehicle.
My car all of a sudden is having electrical issues. The radio is changing stations and volume all by itself. The steering wheel is getting hard to turn. The brake light fuse is burning out right away. I’ve replaced the fuse 3 times already in one week but it keeps burning out within 24hrs or less. My gages are going up and down fast motion. My battery all of a sudden is draining and it is brand new. I only have a little over 60,000. This is not normal at all and it is going to cause me to get in an accident.
All of the dashboard light turned on while deiving amd the engine started overheating, we had to stop the car for it too cool and then it cannot run faster than 30 miles because it will over heat and shakes we could of had a bad accident , we have tried to resolve this with tge dealership and they have failed multiple times to adress this saying its nothing wrong with the car when cleary there is!.
The car will lock while the key is inside. It also has a security issue that would prevent the car from starting if you lock the doors when you are inside and shut the engine off. Lastly now press lock and unlock will make the car beeps until you unlock it with the fob .
Constant issue with key fob not registering to car even after replacement of battery from dealership, now my car is not allowing me to lock the front passenger and driver side doors with any buttons but will still set alarm. When backing up my car will stop automatically even when nothing in the way nothing in the camera or on the camera, same when pulling forward it will stop out of no where showing nothing in the way. This caused a problem when I parked and it rolled forward and tore my bumper on the curb. The windows are touchy if they want to roll up some days. Called Nissan they said there isn’t any recalls looked online this isnt the first time Nissan has heard about the electrical problems yet refuse to do anything.
Our car is currently at the dealership again, (2nd time) for this particular issue that we feel is a safety issue. We are still experiencing an issue with the lift gate. It is coming down at random times, often coming down on us. The sensor always beeps (so far) so you have a very short warning before it comes down on you. However, when it comes down, it takes alot to stop it (force). Even though it meets resistance with putting up our hands to stop it, it takes quite a bit to make it halt. It has also come down with my back to the car, with no motion under the sensor (no feet under the car to trigger the sensor). I do not have a video of it however I do have someone who witnessed it. We are not sure if this is related to the other electrical issues we are having. We've been experiencing issues with it being hard to start, the complete computer screen going blank (on video) or car changes randomly the temperature and shuts down the radio randomly. We were told yesterday that they were able to duplicate the issue and acknowledged that the gate came down "hard" not fast, but does not respond quickly when coming against opposing pressure. However, today we were contacted and told that Nissan wanted them to test other cars on the lot for the same issue, and now they are telling us that those cars respond the same way ours does, (very sensitive- she did not mention anything about them coming down hard. ) however, the loaner car they gave us was also a 2025 Nissan rouge and we have not had that issue with it. The hatch opens and closes without issue. The computer has not malfunctioned or completely went blank. It has not been hard to start, nor has the computer malfunctioned-shutting the radio off or changing the temperature information. It was recommended that maybe to "shut off" the lift gate and raise it by hand. However, we find it a little "rich" of the dealership to even "go there" as the car is 10 months old! we would like it to be fixed.
The main issue involves the engine bearings (recall campaign kr15, NHTSA id 25v-437). According to Nissan, certain engines equipped with the 1. 5l vc-turbo have a manufacturing defect in the main, a-, c-, and l-link bearings or related components. This defect can lead to engine damage and, in some cases, complete engine failure. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This situation puts my safety and the safety of others at risk, because if the engine fails while driving, it may cause a sudden loss of motive power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. I am especially concerned because I frequently drive on highways and in traffic conditions where a sudden loss of power could result in an accident. The issue has been confirmed by Nissan through the recall notice, but as of now, the remedy is still pending, and there is no immediate fix or available parts for the engine bearing defect. My vehicle has not yet been inspected by Nissan for this recall, and I have not received a loaner vehicle or alternative solution to ensure safety while the remedy is pending. In addition, there are two other active recalls: turbo hose defect (Nissan id p4a47) – may cause fuel vapor smell inside or around the vehicle. Eem logic (Nissan id p3a28) – related to the underhood switching module (usm/ipdm), which may lead to a vehicle no-start condition. Before the engine problem fully manifests, there are warning signs including unusual engine noises, rough engine performance, and warning messages appearing on the dashboard, such as the malfunction indicator light (mil). These symptoms appeared progressively and have increased my concern about the possibility of a total engine failure while driving.
2021 Nissan Rogue sv fwd 5n1at3baxmc6*****. Water leaking inside interior during rain storm in upper left drivers side corner of vehicle. Shifter delayed when shifting into park, neutral, reverse, or drive and shifter assembly indicator lights are out. Reference ntb21-069a. This is a known issue. A corrupted shifter assembly has caused this vehicle to display multiple warnings such as cvt warnings , shifter position warnings, front and rear crash sensors unavailable, and a multitude of other electrical system warnings. Communications with Nissan consumer affairs and Nissan service departments both of which state the vehicle is out of warranty and repairs for this known issue will be charged to customer despite evidence this is a manufacturing defect known to exist within this year make and model.
On [xxx] I was at a stoplight with my children and when it turned green I went to proceed and then I was moving slowly and it wasn't letting me go any specific speed and died in the middle of the road on a busy intersection at that leaving my children and I at risk of being potentially hit by another car, and it was in the evening time something could have happened to us ladies as I have a [xxx] and a [xxx] and I'm a [xxx]. Mind you my battery was brand new so there was no indications on my dashboard giving me any sign of warnings nor was my Nissan Rogue driving any different as I've kept up with maintenance and oil changes all of the above. So not only did I have to get out and push my Nissan Rogue out of the road my [xxx] had to steer and I about got ran over and that's jeopardized in my life and then my kids wouldn't have had a mother thank god people jumped off their bicycles to help me. Then people the gas station tried to jump me but they're jumper cables and they said your battery is completely dead and I said that's not possible because I have a brand new battery as of a couple weeks ago just for the simple being that I'm responsible and I replace things when it's past the time and needs to be replaced. So my friend drove all the way up to us went across the street to autozone and bought a brand new battery and put it in then car started right up and was back to normal. But after the girls and I got home and went to bed we got up did our normal daily routine and got in the car to go do some errands and I pull out of my neighborhood and then boom I did it again and I was stuck in the middle of traffic on [xxx] . Three officers had to block off traffic then battery wouldn't hold a charge with that brand new battery three batteries later and an alternator we'll see what happens now information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The front driver and passenger door lock do not function properly. Both with key locks and in door lock switches. The car has less than 35k miles.
When I first received the care it would either be sluggish or delay when accelerating. My cvt power reduced light started to come on at 44,000 miles. This happened for a total of 6 times before the dealership was able to diagnose it. The transmission was finally replaced at 55k miles. My car is now at 59,975 miles and not only has the cvt power reduced light come back on, but now the engine light has also appeared. I also having issues with the screen shutting down in the middle of driving. The dates of all these incidences have been ongoing from 6/2024 to 7/2025.
