Nissan Rogue owners have reported 874 problems related to electrical system (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Rogue based on all problems reported for the Rogue.
The vehicle reads the speed limit signs improperly and the adaptive cruise control will speed up the vehicle to the improper speed limit. For instance it is 45 mph on sr 70 in TN and the vehicle will read the speed limit as 70 mph and take off up to 70 mph on it's own. Very dangerous. Took it to 2 dealers and they are unable to fix the problem.
I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2021 Nissan Rogue, which caught on fire unexpectedly on Feb. 6, 2026 approximately 4:30 am. The fire originated from the vehicle without warning and posed an immediate danger to life and property. The vehicle was parked at the time of incident. There were no actions taken that would reasonably explain a fire of this nature. This incident could have resulted in severe injury or death. I believe this may be related to a manufacturer defect involving fire risk, and I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate and take appropriate safety action to protect other drivers and passengers.

Driver's side door locks intermittently will not lock or unlock with button or intelli key fob. Requiring to use manual key inside intelli key to unlock/lock car or manual inside lock itself. Multiple people have filed complaints about this. There is even a class action lawsuit. Something should be done to force Nissan to do a recall instead of saying we can fix it for $700. I understand that some may not see this as a specific safety issue but when coming to your car in a dark parking lot and having to search for the key to manually unlock it, feels a little like a safety issue to me. Thank you for your time.

My rear back up camers stopped working. I took the car to my local Nissan dealer. I bought the extended warrenty for electronics so they replaced the camera to no avail. Then they replaced the a/v control unit which did not fix the probelm. At that time they advised me the rear wiper grommet leaked wated which caused the camera connector to corrode. They advised me to fix this I must replace the tailgate. There is no repair for this. I have seen posting on facebook and other places showing I am not the only person this is happening to. The dealer knew about it but when I questioned if it was a known issue thet played dumb I feel this is a safety issue as I have no rear camera now.
Door lock actuators on driver side doors failed after less than 4 years. Both were “burnt” out according to Nissan tech. Unable to lock, unlock doors. Safety concerns.
I was driving at night at highway speed, and I turned down the brightness of the screen using the dimmer controls on the lower left side of the dash assembly. After several presses of the button from full illumination to approximately 40%, the entire instrument panel went blank, and a loud alert sounded. I lost all instrumentation for a few seconds, and then the screen rebooted. After it rebooted back at full brightness, I tried reducing it again, and the instrument panel rebooted for a second time while on the highway.
The front camera and sensors are constantly popping up that they are disabled. The front sensor failed to indicate warning and failed emergency brake. Car should have stopped but I stead it hit the car in front. Sensors, and other electrical services are constantly disabling themselves, or failing to work. What is the point of safety features if they constantly fail.

Blinking lights on dashboard, notified Nissan, they stated they knew of recall, but didn't know how to resolve yet, engineers were working on the issue, they stated when it breaks down just bring it in. Car engine light blinks, all warning lights blink, car stops immediately while pulling into to drive way. Lights appeared 1 day ago, then drove ok. Started car this morning to go to work, 4 miles away pulled in and car started blinking all emergency lights, quickly called Nissan they were closed to due to holiday. Emergency lites are check engine light, Feb light, master warning light, aeb lights , malfunction indicator light (mil). Rab light, the start button contents blink when all theses lights are blinking. The fact that Nissan told me to wait till it breaks down, or they would call me to fix recall when they know how is irresponsible .

Vehicle safety defect report I am submitting this vehicle safety defect report regarding a serious and dangerous failure in a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The vehicle experienced complete electronic shutdowns while driving on the highway. During the most severe incidents, on December 19, 2025 and again on January 14, 2026, the vehicle activated the automatic emergency braking system without external cause, shifted into park, and shut down completely, leaving the vehicle immobilized in live interstate traffic during heavy rain. The dashboard displayed multiple simultaneous warnings (engine, battery, collision sensors). A repair facility later diagnosed corrosion in the transmission control module (tcm). The module was not replaced, only cleaned, and the failure recurred. This defect presents an extreme risk of collision, serious injury, or death. A vehicle that shuts down and electronically locks while in motion is unsafe to operate. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this electronic defect affecting critical safety and control systems. Videos, dashboard images, repair records, and documented evidence are attached. While driving on an interstate highway during heavy rain, my 2021 Nissan Rogue experienced a complete electronic shutdown. Multiple warning lights appeared simultaneously, the automatic emergency braking system activated without cause, and the vehicle suddenly shifted into park and shut off, leaving me immobilized in live traffic. This occurred on December 19, 2025, and the same failure happened again on January 14, 2026. The vehicle could not be moved and required towing. A repair facility diagnosed corrosion in the transmission control module (tcm). The module was only cleaned, not replaced, and the failure recurred. This defect creates a severe risk of collision, serious injury, or death. I narrowly avoided being struck by a truck. I am no longer able to safely operate this vehicle.
Vehicle stalls repeatedly at highway speeds. Loss of motive power. Occurred five times in one trip. No alerts. It just says engine malfunction. Powering down.

Started the car and then the engine caught fire. Front of the car is completely charred and fire had to be put out by the fire department. Car is totaled now. This complaint has been raised with Nissan consumer affairs.
The vehicle, a 2022 Nissan Rogue with the 1. 5l vc-turbo engine, suddenly entered severe limp mode: unable to exceed 35-40 mph on flat roads, barely 10 mph on hills, with high rpm and noise. The malfunction indicator light illuminated along with "engine malfunction service now" message and triangle warning light. These symptoms exactly match the early warning signs in safety recall 25v-437 for defective engine bearings that can cause progressive degradation, engine damage, or failure. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Nissan dealer, who performed the recall inspection (oil pan drop) but reportedly found no metal debris. The dealer then diagnosed separate issues—oil temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor replacement, full oil pan replacement for minor seepage, and other warning lights—and quoted approximately $1,900 in customer-paid repairs, claiming they are unrelated to the recall or warranty despite the symptoms aligning precisely with the recall's description of bearing-related limp mode. This created a safety risk due to sudden loss of motive power while driving, increasing the potential for a crash. As a full-time cancer researcher and phd student who depends on this vehicle for daily lab commuting and time-sensitive experiments, the breakdown and repair dispute have caused major hardship: over a week without transportation, extensive time coordinating tows, appointments, and escalations with Nissan consumer affairs, and disruption to critical research. The dealer confirmed the limp mode and warnings, and inspected the vehicle under the recall procedure. Warning lamps/messages appeared suddenly prior to towing; no unusual noises noted earlier. The affected components (engine controls/sensors potentially stressed by the bearing defect) remain at the dealer for inspection. The recall should provide free ecm reprogramming, oil change, and gasket replacement even without debris, yet the dealer is charging for diagnostics and repairs from the same defect.
The most recent incident the emergency brake locked on and the dash flashed system malfunction , maintenance needed, , emergency braking system shut down and several indicators were shut down . This continued for 90 minutes while I was on the phone with Nissan and was waiting for the tow truck when arriving at Nissan 72 miles away , they were not able to find any codes and the car was fine no issues . Luckily I have video to back my story . I have pictures and videos of other times it has done this , but no one will look into why it keeps doing this and it’s done it several time over 2 1/2 years . They changed the stop /start button and it helped but now it’s starting to flash the emergency braking system is off again which is a build up to a major episode again. My Rogue has less than 40, 000 miles on it and has been one issue like this after another with them slapping band aides on it and not finding the source of the problem. They even claim it cleared the bearing failure test but the test was preformed while it was on route to Nissan on a tow truck .
I was looking at the fact that this car has 2 recalls for problems that I never bothered to check, but it's better to have everything in order. Everything is in order.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle and walking away with the keys, the doors of the vehicle automatically locked as designed; however, the rear doors of the vehicle failed to unlock, preventing the contact's sister, who was occupying the rear seat, from exiting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that upon returning to the vehicle, the contact became aware of the issue, and the contact also noticed that the front driver's side door failed to unlock as intended. The contact stated that the failure required the contact to enter the vehicle through the front passenger's side door to get the groceries out of the way for her sister to exit the vehicle through the front passenger's side door. The contact had briefly lost the keys and was able to unlock the doors after finding the keys. The contact stated that the rear doors' failure to unlock did not occur due to the child-lock system. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start on another occasion. A mobile technician from a service contractor was able to jumpstart the vehicle. The technician also recommended that the battery be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The doors unlock or lock on their own. Some locks then don’t lock or unlock. Sometimes they have to be unlocked manually. The trunk does not unlock at all. I can’t open the trunk.
Once a year my car won't start, I get it towed to a dealership and they always say nothing is wrong but recommend getting a new battery even though the battery is not failing. So every year they try to get me to buy a new battery and warranty won't cover my battery because its not failing. I've had them run other test like parasitic draw and they say they find nothing. Every year I deal with this issue and have to deal with getting my car towed and usable for a couple days then magically starts working.

And the engine light on and 3 other lights was on to, I bring my car back to the dealer and they told me it was the oil cooler thermostat and bled system they charged me 1203. 20 for the fix. And they keep my car for 3 days. Finally , they returned the car to me on 12/2/25 I drove it for short time and it happened again same problem same engine light on, lost the power and lot of smoke come out of the muffler, my family and I ran out of the car because I thought it was to catch on fire, people around also saw the smoke and ran. I bring my car back to the dealer on 12/4/25 they keep for 3 more day they told me it was code u0652 tested power and ground tested pin fitment at emc and egr sensor on 12/6/25 returned my car back to me.
The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for the state inspection, the contact was informed that two unknown sensors had failed. An independent mechanic reset the unknown sensor codes and advised the contact to return after 100 miles. The contact followed the instructions and returned to the state inspection; however, the contact was informed that the failures persisted, and the vehicle failed inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
My car caught fire, and it fits the description of the recall from other 2017 Rogues but wasn't not listed on the recall list. They are fixing the body harness, and it was an electrical fire.

On November 17, my 2025 Nissan Rogue caught fire after my hour commute to work. During my commute, there were no warning signs on the dash for the entire duration. Got to the office, parked the vehicle, and within a few minutes a coworker called me to let me know the car was up in flames. The fire quickly intensified and got hot enough to melt the hood, and made its way into the interior after it shattered the windshield. The fire started in the engine compartment, near the battery. The insurance company has a fire investigator attempting to determine the cause of the fire. The car had approximately 12,000 miles.
The engine failed while driving on the interstate at 65+ mph. The malfunction indicator lights came on and beeped loudly, including engine malfunction and awd malfunction (which I don't have). The vehicle lost power, and the engine began making a frightening noise. I had to get over several lanes with no working gas pedal, and I'm lucky nobody was hurt. I had to be towed thirty miles to the nearest dealership. The dealership, who didn't answer when I called ahead to let them know I was coming, was unhelpful, and employees made jokes about just trading it in instead of fixing it. They said it could be months, and that there's no remedy for the recall. I have to wait until they re-open on Monday to speak with anybody. The only symptom prior was that sometimes the vehicle wouldn't recognize my key fob being near/in the vehicle, but I thought it was a battery problem. I thankfully knew about the recall and mentioned it to the dealership, but they don't seem to be agreeable to loaning me a vehicle in the meantime, so this will be a difficult repair process.
The cvt transmission in my 2018 Nissan Rogue sport is malfunctioning and poses a serious safety hazard. The vehicle hesitates, loses power during acceleration, and displays warning lights while driving. This failure creates extremely dangerous situations, especially when merging into traffic, accelerating from a stop, or crossing intersections. Despite the widespread cvt issues in Nissan vehicles and identical symptoms reported in other Rogue models, Nissan refused to repair my cvt because they claim the Rogue sport is not included in the extended cvt warranty. I also requested goodwill assistance due to the clear safety risk, but this was denied as well. The dealer quoted me around $1,500 just to diagnose the cvt problem, with repair costs likely much higher. It is unreasonable for a critical safety component to fail at this mileage and for Nissan to reject all support. This issue continues to occur unpredictably, and the vehicle can suddenly lose power during normal driving, putting me and others at serious risk. Nissan has refused responsibility despite this being a well-documented, safety-related cvt defect. I am filing this complaint because the malfunction poses a risk of crashes and injuries, and Nissan has declined to address a known safety problem.
While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost all engine power without warning and rapidly decelerated in traffic. This created a severe safety risk, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue was later connected to open recall r25a8, involving engine bearing failure and sudden loss of power. The dealership confirmed that no inspection procedure or repair remedy exists and stated that they have no timeline for when Nissan will provide one. Despite this, the dealer returned the vehicle to me and claimed it was safe to drive, even though the problem remains unresolved. Nissan consumer affairs refuses to communicate in writing and only provides verbal phone calls. Each time they call, they state that they will “provide an update in three days,” but no real progress or written documentation has been provided. Meanwhile, I am left with a vehicle that experienced a complete loss of power on the freeway and remains unsafe to operate. Independent diagnostics showed multiple critical fault codes involving the engine, ecm, abs pump motor, and brake control modules. Warning lights appeared only after the failure; there were no warnings prior to the incident. The safety defect is ongoing, unresolved, and there is currently no available remedy from the manufacturer, leaving the vehicle unsafe and posing continued riski am requesting a full buyback of the vehicle with compensation for all related losses. I have already communicated this request to Nissan, and as mentioned above, they only call with delayed updates and do not resolve the issue.
Engine malfunction power reduce service now wed Aug 20. My 2023 Rogue was at the dealership debating that thye can fix the recall because there is no remedy for the inspection for the recall. My truck stayed at the shop until October. This passed Friday October 31 while driving and picking up donations I began to get on the freeway and the same message happened. I couldn't go over 25mph the dealership was 28 minutes away. My safety was a risk it was the on ramp of the freeway and it was all freeway to get to the dealership. The food donations I picled up were at risk of not be able. To be served to shelter residents. I receibed and email stating that the fuel injectors and egr valve need to replace immediately totatling almost 5,000 after just paying $1700 last month. This is the second time since August with this message but the check engine light has been going on and off with alerts in my car amd Nissan app for over 6 months.
The car would not start after it rained all day. I had it towed from my job at walmart to firestone and they said it was an electrical problem and that I need to have it towed to the dealership . So I had it towed to the dealership and they called me the next day and said it was an engine harness. They also told me that this car was bought in March the 12th by the previous owner for the same problem. I brought this car from drivetime on July the eleventh and they did not let me know that this car needed major work. Now they refuse to help me solve the problem.
This is a supplemental complaint to NHTSA id #11604939. On October 25, 2025, passport Nissan in alexandria, virginia diagnosed my 2016 Nissan Rogue with fault code p17f1, which indicates a known cvt transmission failure. The technician documented drivability issues including hesitation, slipping, and pulsing during acceleration. The diagnostic sheet recommended full cvt replacement. The dealership submitted a warranty request to Nissan’s diagnostic validation team, and internal documentation shows a full transmission job totaling $6,996. 44. Nissan classified the failure as warrantable under goodwill. Despite this, Nissan later offered only a partial valve body repair with a 50/50 cost split and a 3-day deadline. This contradicts Nissan’s own technical service bulletin, which states that if fault code p17f1 returns after reprogramming, the transmission must be replaced. The dealership’s own technician confirmed the failure was warrantable and recommended full replacement. This misrepresentation minimizes a known safety defect and compromises consumer protection. The issue has been confirmed by a dealership technician, documented in service records, and submitted to Nissan’s internal warranty team. The vehicle experienced hesitation and loss of power during acceleration, which posed a safety risk while driving. This reflects a broader pattern of concealment and avoidance of full liability for transmission failures across Nissan vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential safety defect and deceptive repair practice. The component is available for inspection upon request, and all documentation has been submitted to the virginia attorney general’s consumer protection section and I am prepping for other filings.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue sport. The contact stated that upon entering and closing the door, the message "door ajar" was displayed. The dome lights failed to turn off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined there was a failure with the electrical system for the crumple zone; the occupant sensor, ignition, and that the voltage was low. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
Nissan chime speaker unbelievably loud at car start up. The seat belt chimes and any chime that comes from the dash speaker is louder than normal. The speaker is “ inst panel speaker 24832-6ra0a. “ I have only had this car for one year this November. It happened for a few days during the first month or two having the car then it went back to normal, now it is doing it again and has lasted a month. Seems to happen only when it’s cold outside. Sometimes chime will start normal then grow increasingly loud.
To whom it may concern, I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a sudden and complete failure of the body control module (bcm) in my 2015 Nissan Rogue. This failure has resulted in a complete "no-start" condition, rendering the vehicle inoperable without warning. The problem occurred on or about [date of breakdown, if known]. The vehicle would not start, despite the ignition powering on. A professional diagnosis was performed, which confirmed that the body control module had failed and was not sending the required signal to the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) to allow the vehicle to start. The technician's notes state: "found no signal from bcm to ipdm to start vehicle. " I have since learned that this is a known manufacturer issue, documented in Nissan technical service bulletin (TSB) ntb16-024, titled "no start, mil on, dtc u1000, u1010, c110a, p1614, p1615, p1630, p1631 (reprogram bcm or replace ipdm). " the diagnosis and attempted repair on my vehicle perfectly match the procedure outlined in this TSB. Safety concern: while a"no-start" condition may not seem like a traditional safety hazard, the sudden and unpredictable nature of this failure presents a significant safety risk. A vehicle that becomes completely inoperable without warning can strand drivers and passengers in potentially dangerous situations, such · in the middle of intersections or busy roadways. · in isolated areas with no access to help. · during extreme weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, storms). · while transporting individuals with medical needs. The failure of a critical electronic component like the bcm, which is responsible for numerous vehicle functions, at only 50,000 miles indicates a serious and potentially widespread defect in materials or workmanship. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this failure pattern in 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles. Existence of a TSB and numerous complaints from other owners online suggest a major defect.
On oct 17,2025. While driving 35 mph on my to drop off my niece to her doctor appointment. My new 2024 Nissan Rogue started to shake and engine light started to blank and cut off power and stopped on the road. Putting our lives at risk for accident on the road. Error code : p2563 and p2565. I took it to the dealership antwerpen Nissan in clarksville, MD. Were I purchased the car brand new in 2024. The system check showed that Nissan turbo had failed a defective safety recall and I need a new engine for my car after less then 1 year. The dealership would not honor this dangerous safety recall issue from Nissan has on the turbo engine as there is a active recall on 2022 - 2024 Nissan Rogue on the vc- turbo engine. Nissan and antwerpen Nissan have not given me any help to fix this defective turbo engine that is putting a lot of drivers like myself at safety risk for a accident on the road. I would like to file a complaint in this matter to get it resolved and fixed on my 2024 Nissan Rogue sv with a new turbo . To fix the defective recall vc- turbo from Nissan.
