My gears started slipping. It wasnt safe to drive but my engine light didnt come on until a week later. Revs up to 6 or 7 before struggling to get up to speed.

The problem that occurred, was driving on the highway and the cvt transmission slips slowing my car down in front of a big truck while my kids are in the there. That is not safe at all, so I take it to a shop who tells me it needs new transmission. Gets new transmission put in there and not even a good two weeks later it is doing it again. So I go and research and see that this is a big issue and Nissan has not did a recall on it yet. What are they waiting on, to harm a whole family. They need to get their stuff together.

The transmission is slipping on this vehicle and isn't part of the models that was recalled but is the same year as the other recalls.

Noticed transmission slipping when going into first gear, specifically when taking off from at a complete stop. If in eco mode it is worse. So far only doing it in 1st gear, worried it will give out on highway like I have seen others. Took to Nissan to have diagnosed recently and told I need a new transmission with just over 110k miles. They do not want to cover it as it is out of warranty. There are recalls in other Rogues for this exact issue, of course not mine.
My Nissan Rogue's transmission starting slipping around 70,000 while accelerating from 20 -30 mile per hour.
Automatic cvt transmission has been slipping and unable to shift to 3rd and 4th gear. I have to place it into "n" when moving then shift to "d" then it would move but still slips when driving only in 20 to 30 miles per hour.

Takata recall. This would be my second time changing this transmission. First time was when my car didn't wanna accelerate and got stuck on 40 mph instead of 70 miles per hour. My Nissan at the time had only 50,000 miles. My Nissan right now has over 150,000 and the transmission slipping again. Did a transmission flush and nothing. I've also notice now when the weather is over 96 degrees the transmission acts up by stalling on 40 mph while driving. Even my ac compression also takes a high effect as well. If it's not one, it's the other.
While taking extended drives, the rpm's begin to increase and the vehicle begins to loose power slowing down to the point where it completely loses power. This has happened at least six times on the road, five on busy interstate highways. All instances the speed of the vehicle was traveling in excess of 60mph. Nissan knows of the problem with its cvt transmissions and has issued a technical bulletin. Nissan's technical service bulletin ntb14-002d, which describes the issue as the cvt going into fail-safe after continuous operation under the following conditions: 1) high rpm and/or driving speeds of 65 mph for 1. 0 - 1. 5 hours or more, 2) driving in ambient temperature of 96 degrees or higher, 3) climbing steep or extended hills for 6 miles or more, and 4) whine or rattle noise occurring during reduced engine performance (vehicle speed decrease). In the case of my vehicle, these conditions were present in most of the cases (four of the six times), in two instances ambient temperature was not a factor (November and February travel) and in one instance, climbing steep or extended hills was not a factor. Now the transmission seems to be slipping during short, local, trips. This began occurring at approx. 36,000 miles and the vehicle now has 90,000 miles (this report to nhitsa is for the most recent incident on 5/20/19). I don't take long trips frequently (10 is probably the maximum number of long trips I have made in this car). Nissan has identified a problem with 2008-2010 cvt transmissions and have extended the warranty on the Rogue to 10 yrs. /120,000 miles; the same should be done with this model as well. It is unsafe and unacceptable. I've talked to three Nissan service departments and all three have wildly different answers (and prices). I don't which dealer to trust, and I don't know if it's better to repair it or trade it. Either way, I can't afford it.
While driving my car to work, the transmission has been slipping out of hear. The speed will decrease as I can't accelerate. The rpm's shoot up but the car will go nowhere. It has happened and both high and low speeds but normally after the car engine is warm. Sometimes when it happens, after 10-15 seconds, the gear will go back to drive on it's own and I can continue on my way. Lately, as it's gotten worse, the car will come to a dead stop (as I can't accelerate) and there is nothing that I can do to get it back into gear. I have tried turning the car on and off, putting it in neutral or low and it can take up to 20 minutes before I can get the vehicle driving property. After research, it is a common issue with the vehicle however after taking the car to the dealership I purchased it from twice, they will not fix it. They state it hasn't happened during their test drive and there is nothing they can do and they are releasing the car to me. Even after multiple phone calls and asking them to perform other tests- they won't. They have only run diagnostic machine tests and did a short test drive (even though they lied and told me it was longer). After taking the vehicle home yesterday- it happened to me twice today. This is unsafe to drive.

This happened backing onto a public street. The vehicle wouldn't move in a continuous movement forward or backward. The vehicle moved as though the transmission was slipping.

As I was travelling on a major freeway, my brand new 2016 Nissan Rogue began to feel like it was "jumping. " at that point I noticed my rpms were high for the speed I was going. Not even 30 seconds after, my car completely stalled. I was in the fast lane of the freeway and barely had time to react. I ended up stuck on the median of the freeway. I ended up having the car taken to the dealer down the road. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I refused to drive it and began seeking further help through Nissan consumer affairs. After nearly a month, an engineer from Nissan took 5 minutes to look at it and noticed the transmission was slipping. The previous week before this major incident, the car is stalled a few blocks from my home on a residential street after accelerating from a complete stop. The dealership had told me there was nothing wrong with it and it was safe to drive. Now here we are 2 months later, and it feels as if the transmission is slipping again.
Cvt transmission is slipping and shacking violently at low speeds.
I was driving on an interstate highway in heavy traffic, at 70 mph, when all of a sudden the rpm went to 5000, and the speed of the vehicle suddenly dropped. I left up on the gas peddle, and gradually pressed it, and moved over to the berm; as the car would not go above 45 mph, at the highest; without the transmission slipping too much that it would lose speed. It also it had an odor. Once I stopped and every thing cooled, it seemed to run alright. That was a week ago and it started to do it ,but not as bad today; but I was on regular highway and didn't travel near as far. I took it to a garage when I left the interstate, and to the Nissan dealer today; and both said it was a defective cvt transmission, but with 76,000 miles on it, the dealer told me Nissan wont do anything about it ,.
Loss of power goes into limp mode intermittent pull feels like transmission is slipping and failing I was on a major interstate doin 65 mph I am absolutely sure that there is something wrong withe the transmission been whining since I purchased it wit 49000 miles kept taking it back and said nothing was wrong.
For the third time my Nissan Rogue 2014 failed to accelerate as the cvt transmission slipped and would not re engage. To make matters worse I was stuck on a mountain on a 95 degree day with no cell phone service. The vehicle has 28,000 miles currently. This first time is happened it had 9,000 miles. There is a lawsuit for 2013-14 pathfinders but the Rogues should be included in a recall for vehicles unfit for operation. It is a safety hazard to have a vehicle traveling at 70mph lose acceleration capabilities and stop moving forward. I was almost rear ended and drove off of the road. I've filed a complaint with the bbb as well as the corporation and requested to be able to return the vehicle with no further costs. This request was denied so I am forced to own a vehicle that is unsafe and the company refuses to take responsibility for. There were no fatalities this time but I can't say the same for my next drive to the store. Many people have filed complaints on these models and nothing is being done to ensure safety.
I have been having issues with my 2013 rouge. When the car warms up it starts making a humming sound. The rpm go up quickly and experience loss of power. It feels like the transmission is slipping. I brought it to the dealer and they confirm the noise and everything else I described. They told me that the transmission was burnt. They asked me to contact Nissan for assistance since I had 64,000 miles on my vehicle and the warranty expired at 60,000 miles. After talking to the Nissan representative he informed me that they couldn't assist me because the warranty had expired. My previous car was a 2008 Rogue. I experience the same issue at 90,000 miles. Back in 2010, Nissan extended the warranty's for the 2008-2010 Rogues. They said "Nissan is taking these actions to demonstrate our confidence in the cvt technology and to show our commitment to stand behind our products. " after my phone call Nissan demonstrated that they are not confident in the cvt technology and that they do not stand behind their product. I brought the car to provide an safe traveling vehicles for my kids to be in. Now, it has slowly become dangerous vehicle with this issue not knowing when the transmission is going to fail and leave us stranded.
Transmission slips after about 200 miles on long trips. You have to stop and let it cool down before you can go on. Sometimes it may take 10-15 mins. Sometimes you have to wait over night before driving it. . When it happens the transmission will wind and you lose power with no warning. I caught myself in the middle of jacksonville FL on 95 when it happened I thought I was going to get in an accident.
When the outside tempature is above 90 the transmission fluid gets hot and the car will stop moving forward as the transmission slips. It also rolled backward down my steep driveway as I was trying to drive forward.
Is Nissan the next Toyota?? we were pulling out of a shopping center and the vehicle failed to properly accelerate. The gas pedal was pushed to the floor, acceleration was at minimum and the rpms revved up extremely high. Thank goodness no one hit us. Finally, the gear caught and all was well. It seemed like the transmission may have slipped. Then we got to my parents' home and parked. Then we went to move out of park and the gears wouldn't change (automatic cvt transmission). We had the vehicle towed to the nearest certified Nissan repair facility. . Read more...
