Major engine problems. The engine has loud knocking noise. While driving the car it shakes badly. When the hood is open you can see the engine jumping and it’s not properly secured. The engine can fall out causing a safety hazard and accident. Vehicle is not safe to drive. When driving the car loses speed immediately going over 55 mph.

I recently experienced “safe mode” in my 2022 Nissan Rogue while driving on the highway at 80mph. My car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate or brake. I had to have my vehicle towed off the side of the highway as it was not drivable. My car is currently under diagnostic at Nissan where they are unable to reproduce the error codes. They notified me of $4,000 in repairs that would be covered by Nissan but they are unsure that will fix the problem. My car is knocking while driving, vibrating upon attempt of acceleration and shuttering at idle.

After driving the vehicle, the rpm will skyrocket and the vehicle will not move forward. We have to turn the vehicle off and let it sit for a few hours before it drives normally again. Lately the vehicle has been bucking when shifting from reverse to drive.

When adaptive cruise control is in use at set speed of 75mph, suddenly vehicle breaks to slow down to the speed of 55-60 mph and within seconds accelerates again to the set cruising speed. This happened at least three time in the last three days with no other vehicle ahead of me.

While driving home from work, the Nissan went from 50mph, suddenly down to 4mph. (literally 4mph) pressing the gas down all the way would not allow the car to move any faster. It would occasionally get up to 15mph, but wouldn't stay. I was lucky beyond belief that a car or semi didn't hit me at highway speed before I could move over in rush hour traffic. Both the local dealership and Nissan USA executive offices concluded that this does not fall within the extended warranty forced on them by the nthsa for many, many similar incidents. The dealer, asking like it was an oil change, asked if I wanted a new $9k transmission. As I can't afford anywhere near that, nor is the car worth it, I was required to drive it home from the dealership, again putting my life at risk. In addition - a recall repair was requested (the driver door wiring harness) - and the dealership told me that it was completed. They did not complete this recall either. Nissan should not be allowed to make vehicles in the USA. If they actually stood behind their product and made repairs and replacements when there are manufacturing issues, I would feel much better about the situation. For now- I want to ensure no one I care about actually dies from driving a Nissan.

The main and most dangerous issue is first hearing high pitch whining/winding sound while driving as the rpm's start to spike and stay high resulting & causing vehicle to lose power and speed for no apparent reason. Subsequently, as you attempt to depress the gas pedal to increase speed to try to mitigate the issue, the vehicle continues to lose power and speed regardless of how depressed gas pedal is (even completely depressed to floorboard). Within seconds vehicle is forced to a stop from lack of power and acceleration and will not continue to drive at all. This issue is nothing less than terrifying and incredibly dangerous especially while on the freeway with heavy traffic speeding and whizzing past you at 70+ mph. If this is happening to people at night, it's only a matter of time before someone will be killed by the speeding and oblivious traffic coming from behind if that has not already occurred. I was travelling with my child and our dog in the back and wonder would have happened if I couldn't have merged into the slower lanes in heavy traffic and off to the shoulder to "safety. " what will happen to a family in the fast lane that is not able to merge to safety or when they find themselves forced and stuck in the middle of the freeway between the median and the fast lane?? in addition, upon starting, vehicle will also idle higher than normal and stay high with slight fluxuation even while in park. While driving, rpm's continue to spike with every gear shift and vehicle is slow to respond and keep up with desired speed and will continue to worsen as time progresses. The longer the drive, the more (tired) and sluggish it seems with both lack of response, lack of power, and lack of speed. First signs of issue were while idling at stoplights, vehicle will shake and seem to idle very low as if going to die while at idle. There is also a noticeable shake while driving especially at higher speeds with this problem remaining and lasting the duration of drive.

Unknown I was driving to st. Louis on the highway and was going 70 mph and then I hear a winding noise and loss acceleration and had my foot all the way down on the gas pedal and it would not speed up I was only going 40 on a highway that I was going 70 mph on and kept losing speed.
I have reported to my dealer (the marlboro Nissan/MA on may 24, 2024 2:00pm) thedangerous situation that keeps my Rogue (VIN: jn1bj1crxkw322671) at a lowergear (the car cannot go more than 20 mph. . . In the highway this is very slow) afterstanding still in a traffi c jam for a while on a hot day (specially after a traffi c jam iscleared). I'm concerned this can cause an accident and Nissan is doing nothing toresolve this risky car issue. There is no indication in the dashboard and even thoughwe have reported this problem to the dealer twice, they have done nothing. Nissanshould be held accountable for not resolving this design/manufacturing issue. Additional.

The forward collision warning sensor went out while driving. Took it to granite Nissan in rapid city, sd. They replaced it after a year of waiting on the part. The day after it was repaired, it went out again. They said they have no idea on how to fix the problem. This issue is very dangerous when it is icy outside. When the sensor goes out the car is very unstable. You can only drive at 25 mph and that's pushing it. It seems like the car is trying to apply the brakes to all four wheels at once. The cruise control goes out and it is hard to maintain your speed with the pedal.
I was driving my car to appointment up a hill and the transmission completely gave out, additionally, since I bought it, it has consistently had problems accelerating, and getting above 45mph. The problem cannot be pinpointed.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle began to jerk. The rpm increased, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The rpm decreased, and the rpm went to the correct level. After reaching an approximate speed of 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate further. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, who informed the contact about having a transmission flush and adding transmission fluid. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

The cruise control and safety driving system shuts off and the message “forward driving aids disabled. Front sensor blocked” comes on. This happens every few miles now. Pulling over, shutting off the engine, and restarting it resets the system, but it cuts out again. Sometimes if I just keep driving, it will reset itself in a few miles. This has been dangerous at highway speeds due to it coming on a d vehicle decelerating suddenly. It's also dangerous because it shuts off the vehicle avoidance system. In a 4 hour trip it can happen up to 6 to 8 times. We've taken it to dealership, but they have not found an error message etc and said they cannot do anything about it unless the issue gets worse or a recall is created for the lane camera, which has had reported issues of overheating. The following web link has more information of other drivers with the exact same issue as I described. . . Read more...
The car will not go in reverse and it does by waiting up to 20 minutes car goes in reverse but the car goes by itself while driving accelerating on its own without me pressing on the gas, I have processed the break for acceleration to stop and go the speed I wish to drive. I took it to the mechanic and was told it was the shift lock solenoid the mechanic could not fix the car the mechanic said the part is on backorder with Nissan and there is no release date for when the car car part (shift lock solenoid) will be available to repair the car. I do not feel safe driving the car.

I was caught in a snowstorm, driving about 5 mph. Suddenly, the vehicle swerved to the left and I lost complete control; the brakes locked up. The vehicle spun about 145° degrees before coming to a stop perpendicular to the road; subsequently rear-ended from behind. The moment was surreal; I’ve never felt closer to a life-threatening incident because I had zero control over the car: I was spared only because there was no oncoming traffic. My biggest concern is why the safety systems failed to intervene. During the incident, the abs did nothing. Traction control, nothing. No warning lights came on. It’s mind blowing that the car skidded about 145° degrees without any intervention from the abs and traction control systems. With modern 4-channel abs and advanced traction control (vehicle dynamic control) safety systems, the car should have attempted to correct itself. Because I was at a standstill, I was braking the entire time; I didn’t jam the brakes or steer the vehicle. To make matters worse, the car was in snow mode awd. One hypothesis is a glitch where vehicle dynamic control won’t operate in snow mode to give maximum engine performance. But at the cost of reduced safety and traction. Or perhaps the safety systems are not working as intended. The emergency brake malfunction light occasionally comes on when idling and several malfunction messages once during a long trip. However, these were sporadic and did not appear before this incident. Moreover, the maintenance person at my apartment recently experienced the same issue. While on the road with his new 2021 Nissan Rogue, his car spun out of control four times. He's driven in the snow in other vehicles without a problem, and will never drive the Rogue in snow again. Because this vehicle failed in a critical safety scenario, I’m requesting Nissan carefully inspect the safety systems, including the anti-lock braking system (abs) and vehicle dynamic control free of charge. Will escalate this further if needed.
Unknown I fell victim to a wiretapping incident that is still under federal investigation that began in my vehicle on June 23rd, 2023. This concern is in regard to life safety and loss of control of the vehicle on or around the same time, due to radio transmission feedback beeping coming from the passenger side speaker, as well as what sounded like an emergency response unit radio. The noise would not stop until I pulled the plug on the battery of the car as well as the fuse panel to the head unit. While driving the vehicle in converse TX around August 1st, 2023, I noticed the speedometer locking at a higher than average speed for the area I was in, like it would go into cruise control automatically, without my consent. I then hit the brake to slow it down, but the speedometer locked again and would read what I believed to be 5mph over the speed limit, but I could hear the engine revving and feel myself speeding up. I parked the car and pulled the majority of the fuse panel after this event, barely used it, reset the firmware version on the head unit and do not have this issue today. I reported this to Nissan twice in person, once on the phone and twice in writing. Nissan refuses to look into it until I pay for them to plug up their equipment to determine what happened and that there is nothing wrong since there is not yet a recall leading to my event.

I have been having a problem with the forward collision warning on this car since I have had it new . It has been to the local dealer and still has not been fixed. The problem is when it get colder 35 to 50 degrees f out site it will stop working for about 30 to 45 min then start working again for 45 min to an hour then stop working again. During the time it does not work the speed control stops working and forward collision sensors do not work. I have reported this to the local dealer and it has been in the shop over 5 times about this. I was told it is a software problem.
On December 18, 2023, on the masspike, inbound, at the morning rush hour, the traffic was in a hard stop for more than 1 hour (moving very slow bumper to bumper), after the brighton exit, whatever the reason of the traffic jam cleared and all the car speeded up. . . My Nissan Rogue sport accelerated a bit but them came to a very low speed (~ 10 mph). I checked whether I was in the right gear (it was: d), checked whether there was any dashboard error sign (there was not!); the car was very slow at a moment when all the cars near me where rushing. I truly though I could get rammed in the rear by cars trying to get to their destination. All cars were honking because I was at a very low speed (and I put on the emergency lights). I took the car for service at the marlborough Nissan (740 boston post rd e. Marlborough, massachusetts 01752) today (December 26 2023), but they claimed there was nothing wrong with the car. I can tell you that if Nissan does nothing to solve this problem, other cars of their brand will have a big problem. I don't know what the problem is, but there are several post in internet claiming this is a big issue: https://forums. Nicoclub. Com/problem-with-accelerating-t534026. Html https://forums. Nicoclub. There was about a handful of incidents in the almost 3 years that ive had this car where I am driving and suddenly the vehicle stops accelerating . The rpm shoots up and the speed stayed at 20mph. I took it to the Nissan dealership service center for a diagnostic and was told that there are no problems with my car.

My wife and I were returning from a thanksgiving trip to relatives in virginia southbound on I 95 she was driving and we both felt the car shudder as we began to lose speed. There was no acceleration even though the tachometer was in a high range. We limped into a rest area ,shut down the car and called a tow service. We were towed to deacon jones Nissan in golsboro, n. C. Where we were told we needed a new transmission. The service manager told us this cvt transmission is supposed to be serviced every 30 k miles . We were at 87734. There was never a dashboard warning light to that effect nor any notice from Nissan. Our expenses were: transmission=$6619. 34; towing=$155; 2 nights at hotel=$201. 38.

As I accelerated the car, the car suddenly slowed down. As I accelerated it would barely move no matter how hard I pushed the accelerator. The was a major safety risk because cars were behind me and if I was on a highway, someone could easily slam into my back. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic. There was no warning on the dash.
While driving home from work, my wife was attempting to merge onto the on-ramp to the highway, and the vehicle jerked violently and rpm's skyrocketed but the speed was barely climbing. The speed didn't rise above 20mph until rpm's reached 4k. We had to creep all the way home with the engine whining and juddering and couldn't go above 45mph. This is extremely dangerous and the mechanics are saying there's nothing they can do other than buy an entirely new transmission because the cvt is complete trash, ,there was all kinds of debris in the bottom of the pan and Nissan is acting like they have no idea what we are talking about. I'm at a complete lost as to why there aren't any recalls for the 2016 Nissan Rogue cvt transmissions!!!!!! this is unsafe and I will never purchase anything affiliated with Nissan!.
While driving I started to notice my rpm increasing and my acceleration decreasing. I have stayed up to date and proactive on maintenance. At 110000 miles my transmission has started to have gear slips, my rpms increase and my car will randomly lose the ability to accelerate at random times leaving me vulnerable to an accident car crash.

About 50 miles in during a road trip, cvt transmission failed. Sluggish when accelerating, would not accelerate past 40 mph. Gear would not release to reverse or put into park to shut the vehicle off. Had to find an open field in order to turn around and drive back home due to not being able to reverse. Proceeded back with flashers on at a low rate of speed. When I reached home, I pushed the button to power off the vehicle, it gave a warning that it must be in park first but I was able to put the gear in park at this point. During the time of the incident and returning home, there was no warnings present on the dash. If I had been on the highway at 75 mph during this incident it might have been catastrophic! I called the Nissan dealership and was told to bring the vehicle in on Monday. It is still under warranty and just hit 50,000 miles. Upon researching, this seems to be a known issue with Rogues of certain years, mine included in 2020, with Nissan.
In September 2023, my 2016 Nissan started vibrating with noise. It was not shortly after that a warning appeared on the console. The warning, "chassis control system error" caused research as the vehicle worsened. As I was driving, a warning of the brakes shutting down appeared. I returned home in time, and parked the vehicle. The truck was then sent to the mechanic where I was told that the transmission failed. The cvt failed at 83,000 miles. The vehicle is currently at a Nissan dealership service department, while I'm in the process of litigation with Nissan north America, inc. Nissan offered just $1500. 00 towards an estimated $6000 cvt repair bill. This problem is an extension of the 2022 class action lawsuit that needs to be re-established. Nissan manufactured the vehicles with the knowledge of the defective cvt and did not make the consumers aware of the defect. Nissan dealerships also needs to be held accountable for their knowledge of the fraudulent act of Nissan to the consumers. Dealerships sold the vehicles also with the knowledge of the defective cvt. Nissan manipulated the law with a bogus extended warranty that protects Nissan from having to correct the wrong.
I was parking car. Car unexpectedly accelerated, hit object in front of me & continued accelerating off road into a field until I got car into neutral. Car has not been inspected for cause. At time of accident I assumed I made an error. Danger is car was going extremely fast with no control to stop. Drive off road maybe 20 feet after hitting a manual water pump (at campsite). There were children playing in area.
The car has never been in an accident or flooded. Mechanics have been unable to computer diagnose the problem. Warning lights depend on what is happening at the time. However the rear camera light remains on as that feature ceased to function within days of the warranty expiring. Vehicle has begun to intermittently shake violently. Other times the rpm’s are highly erratic, revving up and slowing down or bouncing like crazy. Car sometimes looses power and acts like it is going to stall. Driving on the bridges in charleston, especially the tallest, the car operates dangerously and unpredictably. The car cannot manage the incline without stuttering or stalling and loosing power. Again, this is not an all the time issue, but an unpredictable occurrence. The rpm gauge will hit 3-4 but the car cannot go over 20-40mph with rpm’s tacking & check engine light comes on. Stalls happen without warning and while operating at normal rates of speed. Meaning it is not a stop & start issue alone. It may happen at 70 mph on the freeway. You never know. On one occasion the push to start feature failed for hours leaving me stranded. The rear back up camera light is on and the feature no longer works. This is dangerous, not an occurrence that is exclusive to me - according to the dealership it is “a complete head scratcher. We keep seeing it. Hearing the same stories but Nissan is non-responsive to the volume of complaints on this issue. ” they went on to explain that this will stress the engine and transmission and cause damage to other parts of the car. So they are aware but don’t care? that’s the translation. Moreover, Nissan is aware that this problem has a domino affect that becomes incredibly costly to their customers and that “you can fix one issue and more often than not, another occurs because of the preceding damage. ” the transmission failures know to Nissan and known in the industry are life threatening.
On 6/27/22 we were driving roughly 35 mph and all of the sudden the warning light engine malfunction power reduced service now warning light came on and the car immediately slowed to 20 mph with no warning. It was a Sunday so we couldn’t take it to the dealership that day. We turned the car off and in about 20 minutes turned it back on and the warning light had cleared. We took it to the dealership the next day. Since the car only had 14,912 miles assumed the warranty would cover. They didn’t find anything but still charged us $168. 53. Then on 8/30 it happened again while backing up. Called Nissan and they instructed me to turn it off and back on. I did but it still had the warning light and reduced speed. I was roughly 30 miles from the dealership and they wanted me to drive it in. I told them that wasn’t safe. They said at my expense have it towed. After the car was turned off awhile it cleared and went back to normal. I took the car in the next day. Again they said they couldn’t recreate the issue and had no solution. They indicated Nissan knew there was an issue but didn’t have a fix yet. They said it might mean a new engine. I filed a complaint with Nissan asking for them to buyback the car because I felt it wasn’t safe. They denied it. If at some point you are driving 70 mph on a 4 lane interstate in busy traffic and it happens and the speed reduces from 70 to 20 with no brake light coming on or warning to the driver. It could be catastrophic. On various complaint sites you can see that this is a large issue for Nissan.

A friend and I was driving out of town we drove approximately 3 hrs before vehicle stalled on us at a stop sign. The car had no power after driving 60-70 miles on highway. We exited access road & once we stopped at stop sign car acted as if it had no power/gas. Although foot was on pedal all the way to the floor. Transmission has been replaced a year ago. Vehicle did not want to go over 50 mph after car stalled. This is so dangerous we turned around & went home we did not feel safe or comfortable driving this vehicle out of town.
Forward driving aids disabled, front sensor blocked, malfunction issue confirmed by dealer 3 sensors replaced problem continues.
Transmission jerks. Cvt transmission causing significant issues. Have already changed faulty valve body, mass air flow sensor, and idle control sensor.
Dangerous and terrifying vehicle malfunction. I have done extensive research on the vehicle and I am beyond upset that this has not been resolved for everyone who owns any Nissan vehicle experiencing this problem. While driving either on the highway or local streets after approximately 10-15 minutes of travel time at any speed there is a loud whining noise while accelerating and total power loss. My 2013 Nissan Rogue sv has almost complete power loss while driving just a few minutes at any speeds and especially during or immediately following highway travel. While driving with my 3 year old son in the back, operating at the posted speed, the vehicle suddenly loses power and the ability to maintain or increase speed, the accelerator can be fully pressed and there is little to no response. We have nearly been involved in multiple accidents with semi trucks, other cars/suvs, and objects due to this issue. This has created a massive risk for us while driving daily routes to school and work. I have read hundreds out of thousands of forum threads, youtube comments, and tweet, etc. . And as a whole every single post has the same issue for many Nissan models but little to none have been fixed or addressed. This issue is extremely hazardous and life threatening, I am terrified to have my child in this vehicle for any reason. I am extremely disappointed in the fact that there has not been a single positive response from Nissan to repair this problem and save the lives of the people and there families who paid extremely high prices to buy these vehicles to only be very tragically affected by these problems after the purposely designed warranty is expired and then cost in the thousands for repairs are being handed to the owners. I am not going to stand by and allow this to go unaddressed until it causes serious harm or injury to my family and I. The thousands of people who have experienced this can agree. There is a manufacturing defect related to the cvt transmission system.
