1 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/16/2014

I am having two problems with the abs system on my 2013 Nissan Sentra sv. On three occasions the abs system shut off the brakes completely at low speed on slippery roads. While testing the car to reproduced the above condition I noticed that at low speed on slippery roads the car stopped about 1/3 shorter without the abs system. I am a professional engineer and was a project manager for anti-lock brake systems and am familiar with abs operation.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2007 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/11/2007

My wife was involved in an accident last night in our 2007 Nissan Sentra, she rearended the car in front of her that stopped short, she slammed on the brakes when it happened and there was no response(the car didn't slow down at all) and the air bags did not go off, she hit the car in front of her between 30-40 mph, and she hit her head on the steering wheel, luckily there was no severe injuries, but in contacting Nissan they didn't seem to care to much(expected that they aren't going to take any blame) but when I contacted the dealership they told me the car needs to be checked out to see why this happened.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1999 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/11/2002

I had just entered a 3-lane highway and was driving 25-30 mph in the rain at night, when the engine suddenly just stopped! I had no lights, no brakes, no horn, no steering. By some small miracle, the emergency brake stopped the car,and I had a cell phone. The police got there before anyone hit me. Sheehy Nissan service dept. Said that this is a common occurance with Sentras, and several years were recalled for defective components for the same kind of problems, but 1999 was not included. Therefore, the repairs as estimated would cost me roughly one grand. Forgot to mention that my son and baby girl were with me when the car failed on the highway. Aren't the dealers required to report this sort of thing to the manufacturer?.

When applying the brakes the pedal does not go to floor. However, the system appears to lock up, causing extended stopping distance. Cause unknown. Consumer states this is a very poor engineering design of the braking system that causes the brakes to lock up when they are applied beyond a very slow driving condition.
