3 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/19/2020

My car is still under warranty and I have had to take in in to the dealership 3 times because the aeb sensor light comes on. They have replaced it all three times and I bring it home and once I start driving on the freeway, the sensor comes on again. As I'm driving, the vehicle slows down even though I'm pressing on the gas. I have to let my foot off the gas and then press the gas pedal hard to kick it back into running correctly. I have a 2018 Nissan Sentra and it has 30,000 miles. The warranty expires at 36,000 miles and I'm afraid that I will have to take it in and pay for the repairs if they can't figure out what's wrong. I've owned Sentras before and never had this much problem!.

11 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

On 12/16/19 I reported an issue with the automatic brake system warning it's unavailable. I've had the vehicle in 3 times to fix the issue at metro Nissan in montclair California. They can't fix the problem and know about it from other vehicles. They have now chosen to blame me for the issue. This dealership is the worst possible. Nissan is well aware of the issue and doesn't have a fix. The sensor has been replaced, the sensor has been calibrated, etc. Problem is the system is going to cause an accident and possibly more. Nissan wake up and fix this problem for many of your car owners. Buy the cars back if you don't know how to fix it. Keep our safety priority #1. I've only had the car 3 weeks and it's been at metro Nissan the majority of the time and still broken. Since the dealer can not fix the problem I'm contacting Nissan corp directly. Lousy dealership. Stay away from them.

12 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/07/2019

Automatic emergency braking system sensor frequently lights up with a warning radar unavailable while driving on the highway and local streets. I just got this car and after one day I had to take it back to the dealer. First they said they would replace the sensor. After four days in the shop they said they cleaned the sensor and cleared the codes. They also calibrated the sensor. The next day it happened again twice. I have an appointment to take it back to the dealer in two days. In reading the NHTSA website there are many reports of this problem with this year and model car, with the forward collision avoidance system. Many owners have reported this issue. Nissan has failed to issue a recall or fix the problem. These cars are lemons. The failure can cause an accident or something a lot more serious. Action needs to be taken.

Emergency breaking system sensor seems to say there is something obstructing front car its faulty/bad sensor just purchased vehicle.

14 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/17/2019

Driving on freeway less than 35 mph, car made loud noise for 1-2 minutes at same time I felt under floor board something pulling. I tried to slow down, brakes didn't work. I rear ended a car. The car gear shift popped into reverse; I pressed harder on brakes & they finally worked. I noticed a big light on the dashboard saying malfunction, check owners manual there was a gray symbol near these words. Inside the speedometer circle that same symbol appeared in bright yellow. At some point within an hour 2 more yellow symbols appeared on the far left of the dash, a yellow triangle with an explanation point, and a car with 2 curved lines behind the back tires. When the car was returned to the dealership I purchased it from, the staff immediately attempted to blame me for the incidentasking why didn't I bring the car in for service? and that I have to get a rental car and my car repair through my insurance company. He pushed the idea of getting the car repaired. I stated I just barely got the car 3-4 weeks ago brand new. I left the car to be checked by service department. The next day the service manager denied any malfunction saying there wasn't any current codes just past codes; I asked what that meant he said a brake sensor and some other data I didn't comprehend. He said get my insurance to fix the car. I said no sir, I want more information on why the car malfunction first. Once I explain to him again what happened he said he would have his forman check out this car the next morning; however less than an hour the service manager me back to say he talked to a field tech engineer and was advised that I had a right to call Nissan corp to make a report. I went by srvc dpt to get something, they tried to get to take/repair my car. I didnt. Once I spoke to Nissan corp they said it take 6-8 weeks for investigation etc to be completed and for me not to get car repaired.

15 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The front bumper sensor is detecting things in the road that aren't there and automatically applying the brakes on my car. When this happens, there's a loud almost grinding sound and the car brakes very hard. The other issue I'm having is the car will sometimes detect someone in the passenger seat when it's empty and turn on the buckle seat belt light and turn off the air bag off light for the passenger seat.

18 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/11/2019

Traveling in traffic about 35 mph all of a sudden traffic came to stop. I applied my brakes and did not grab right away I turned the steering wheel to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. I hit my front left corner in the back right corner of the other vehicle. My air bags did not discharged,my frontal brake sensor gave no warnings . I just had my vehicle inspected last week. I filed a claim with my insurance company, made a police report. Two weeks ago I was at the dealer asking it there was any recalls because my sensor lights comes on when nothing is in front of me. I was told that there is no recalls on my vehicle. That the recall on the front sensor was for the Nissan rogue where the vehicle brakes on its own.

19 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/09/2019

I was in the parking lot stationary, attempting to leave the store, and my vehicle would not start due to the brake sensor malfunctioning. I drive a 2018 Nissan Sentra and it is push start. At the time it was mid day and the weather was about 102. My eight month and a half pregnant girlfriend had to wait in the parking lot for approximately 20 minutes in the heat until the vehicle started to work again. After one google search I was able to find out that this issue is quite frequent and needs to be addressed. This is happened on four separate occasions prior to this and all of them happened between 21,500 and 23,500 miles. This isunacceptable for a one-year-old vehicle and could've led to something way more dangerous in the event we had our newborn child with us.

20 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

I was driving my vehicle about 30 mph, before I even approached another vehicle my sensors began beeping quicker as if I were about to hit another car. No vehicle near me close enough for sensor to begin alerting me. As I tried to slow down , they began beeping very fast and I was unable to stop, I went around a car that was sitting at the stop sign to avoid rear ending them, and still rear ended a parked car. Police were on the scene and witnessed the accident. My car was totaled due to a malfunction.

21 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/06/2018

I purchase 2019 Nissan Sentra on 11/6/2019 with 15 miles at Nissan of muskogee. Since purchase the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system deactivates and shows a warning on the dashboard front radar unavailable due to obstruction. a crash icon also on dashboard at all times. No cruise control. The car is out of balance. The sensor comes on at all time wether or not there are other vehicle near the car. The dealership and service department alleges that I am the only one with this problem and the parts not available. I brought it in to service. The dealership service barely look at the car nor check codes. The balance is worse. This is cause by a faulty defective radar sensor in the front grill. Service is now waiting for parts that Nissan can't get anywhere.

22 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/28/2018

Just before I hit 1000 miles, the front collision sensor started beeping at random times whether the vehicle was stopped or in motion and ultimately, it had to be replaced. Dealership told me they have seen this happen a lot on the 2018 model Sentras. Also, the guard in the inside track of the driver door came off twice and I had to fasten it back on. I did buy it off the sales floor so a lot more people were in and out of it but I still do not feel like that should happen on a brand new car. Last, my 2017 Nissan never had problems with the bluetooth but this one constantly kicks me off of calls but was told nothing could be done until dealership catches it in the act. Overall, I love the safety, comfort, and feel of my car, just wish the bluetooth would work right.

23 Brake Sensor problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

"takata recall" my check engine light keeps coming on and off. I've had the sensor replaced once for over $350. 00 two years ago. However, now the check engine light has reappeared and went off twice in the past 30 day. I've kept up with maintenance since my initial purchase of the vehicle. Firestone asked me to check with the Nissan dealerships to find out if the mass air flow is covered under some sort of warranty before I pay them to perform anything because they see this issue occurring in many Nissans they've performed on.

25 Brake Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/13/2015

I was driving east on i494 near a major interchange, in very heavy traffic. I was in the center lane going approximately 60-65 mph when my engine suddenly quit. I quickly checked the lane on my right and it was clear so I moved over and onto the shoulder. My brakes and steering were going quickly, but I was able to bring the car to a full stop next to the guard rail. I was right next to a two-lane exit to i35, where the traffic was flying past me; several cars almost ran into me, with one extremely distracted driver crossing the line onto the shoulder and heading right at me. If he had not looked up in time I doubt I would be here to report this. I was able to get a tow truck, but traffic was not even slowing or yielding for the tow truck driver. It was an extremely dangerous situation. While waiting for a tow, I was able to restart my car after about 10 minutes, but was too afraid to try driving it in those traffic conditions. The repair shop I went to diagnosed a faulty O2 sensor caused by a leaky flex pipe and wanted over $800 to replace the pipe w/ catalytic converter, gaskets, O2 sensor. And spark plugs. Since my car would start but I did not trust it, I decided to drive home (25 miles) by city streets and back roads. On the way the engine again failed while waiting for a light to change. After 10 minutes it started and I was able to get home. I took it to my mechanic, who fixed the flex pipe. A few days later the engine died again and restarted after another harrowing wait on the side of the road. This time the car gave a code for the crankshaft sensor, which my mechanic replaced. Since then my car has not quit while driving, but does hesitate and I am afraid while driving it. I may have my mechanic replace the camshaft sensor as well, since that is also a known issue. I am supposed to move to California, but don't trust my car to make the trip safely.

26 Brake Sensor problem of the 2009 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

Brakes make loud squealing and grinding noise starting as little as 8 to 10 thousand miles even when pads and rotors are fine. The steering column pops and jolts slightly when turning starting at 27 thousand miles. The car makes a clunking noise when taking moderate to hard right or left turns at any speed. One tire sensor has already gone bad at 20 thousand miles.

28 Brake Sensor problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/23/2013

The passengers seat air bag sensor does not recognize when there is someone sitting and will not activate. I took the car to service and the guy told me that maybe it was because I was too skinny and maybe the sensor did not recognize that there was someone is actually sitting in the passengers seat. It is very dangerous because in a car accident it will probably not work. The car also have an annoying noise each time I hit the breaks in the back right side of the car. It have been 3 months and 3 service visits and several calls to service, distributors, etc. And I have not received an answer on how or when they will fix the problem. They told me to keep using the car because it was not a safety issue, but the brakes have gone blank twice making me very nervous of using the car. Still no answer from Nissan.

29 Brake Sensor problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/29/2003

While driving at 35 mph vehicle stalled and shut down in the middle of the highway. Before total shut down steering wheel and brakes locked up, almost resulting in an accident. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who in turn informed the consumer that the crank positioning sensor was defective. There was a recall on this vehicle, but not for consumer's VIN number. The dealer wanted to charge consumer for recall repairs. Manufacturer was notified of the problem.

32 Brake Sensor problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/15/2002

My engine failed again while driving 70 mphs on the freeway, the very day after the car had been repaired for yet another defect sensor. It was a miracle I did not crash and kill anyone including myself. Each and every time I have taken the car in, I have requested it be checked for a short in the wiring. Each time I was told no. I later learned thar meant if it didn't show up on the computer, then they wouldn't look for it specifically. Following the latest hazard, I got in Nissan's face. Nissan found a defect oxygen sensor this time. Upon retesting the vehicle, the emc (the brain of the vehicle) was found to be defective. I was also told had I driven the car any longer, the air conditioning unit would have blown too. Well, that explains all the lousy gas mileage this past year. So, here it is a week later and my vehicle remains in the shop with a back ordered emc with no available stock date in sight. I am renting a vehicle and am receiving very little assistance from Nissan as to getting a rental vehicle in the meantime. I am quite concerned I have purchased a brand new spanking yellow lemon. I am quite concerned this vehicle, even with a new emc, will produce other defective sensors once the warranty has expired due to wear and tear from the old one. There are 45 sensors in the vehicle and only 5-10 have blown so far. I am quite certain others are close to failure too. I am just as concerned when both the Nissan representative and the service manager told me this part has been on back order for a very long time as so many vehicles have endured this problme, that the vehicle has not yet been recalled.
