39 Car Stall problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/09/2016

Was driving at a speed of around 45 mph on a busy colorado roadway and the car all of the sudden stalled. Lost engine power, power steering and brakes. Luckily coasted to the shoulder. The car had to be towed to an automotive shop. It was diagnosed and it was determined the crankshaft and camshaft sensors had failed. I called Nissan on 7/12/2016 and reported this safety issue (reference number 22954833). On 7/14/2016 I talked to cody at Nissan and he said this was recalled in 2003 and an already closed recall. I asked him if he was going to report this incident to Nissan engineers department, because it is a safety issue and a recent recall issue. I stated that because the car stalled while driving that put people¿s lives at risk. I asked the Nissan representative cody if there have been any other complaints with this car's model about the fact that the crankshaft and camshaft sensors are still failing. He said he didn't know. The Nissan representative cody stated to me that with the age of the car this is expected to happen with these parts. I stated to him that because the crankshaft and camshaft sensors are still failing, therefore causing a car to stall while driving is a safety issue and should be reported. He said he was not going to report it to anyone. I stated I was going to report it to the NHTSA, because it is a safety issue and they need to know the issue still exists from their previous recall. The Nissan representative cody then stated if you want to contact them go ahead. Please take my submission seriously. If this was recalled in the past and is still happening I fear people's lives are at risk. I hope you have a database that keeps these complaints compiled and if this is happening to other people please get these recalled so the problem can be resolved and no lives are lost. Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

42 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/27/2016

I am driving in my car (2005 Nissan Sentra 1. 8s) on canal pointe blvd, new jersey on 03/27/2015 and car suddenly stopped. Luckily I am on low speed and able to pull the car to the right lane. Then tried to restart the car but not started immediately but after few minutes restarted and drove for few miles then experienced slowing down. Hence towed to Nissan dealership east windsor, NJ. After diagnosis service advisors informed about failed crank sensor and need to replace. Then I remembered the similar issue happened in 2011. I was on new jersey turnpike driving around 65 mph car suddenly stopped and luckily at that time as well, I was driving in right most lane on turnpike and able to pull the car on right shoulder. After few minutes car started and then took the car to firestone, lawrenceville, NJ and they fixed the crank sensor issue. Today when I contacted Nissan told recall was only for 2005 Nissan Sentra that has 2. 5 l engine and my car not in the recall list. Again this complaint is about cost for replacement and about safety. Luckily both the times I was lucky no other car/truck behind my car. Without any pre-notice, car suddenly stalls on the road. I believe we should not allow these cars on roads unless Nissan recalls crank sensors of their cars and ensures crank sensor failures not happens again. Cars suddenly stalls on the roads without any pre-notice is unacceptable. First time when crank sensor failed, car has 95000 miles and this time car has 141000 miles. Please help on this and make sure Nissan recalls the cars that has crank sensor failures. Nissan will have data about models they get crank sensor failures. All these cars should be recalled. Do not know what to do when engine suddenly stops on the road. Please assist customers like me not meeting with accidents because of using Nissan cars those has crank sensor failures.

43 Car Stall problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/21/2016

Car constantly shuts off while driving, steering and brakes lock up as well. It does this idling at lights and while driving making turns. Very dangerous! I have replaced several sensors (at my expense) to try to keep the car going, but I'm terrified to drive it as I fear it will stall again in traffic and potentially kill me and my family. Checked my VIN against the many recalls that would cause these problems and states that none of these recalls apply to this car! Nissan used to be a good company, now it's just a lemon factory! not to mention their dealership service is absolutely useless! I don't see how such dangerous and potentially deadly issues do not have recalls on them!!!.

44 Car Stall problem of the 2004 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/17/2016

My car usually takes two tries to start. After it warms up and I've been driving, it stalls suddenly, and I'm stranded for several minutes. When it does start up again, it goes a short distance, and as soon as the engine warms up again, it stalls again. Today it stalled on the way home, three times, in less than 4 miles. I was left sitting on the side of the road, hoping I wouldn't get hit. I have also had it stall in the middle of a busy intersection, and am very concerned about it stalling when I pull out in front of other traffic to cross a road. I am at risk of a crash because of this. It has stalled whiie driving on the highway, city streets and on rural roads. One night it stalled over a dozen times as I was passing through a bad area of time ten o'clock at night. Nissan is going to cost somebody their life if they don't get on this and fix every Nissan that is exhibiting these kinds of sudden stalls. This has been going on since summer 2015 and is getting far worse. I can't afford to pay for a manufacturing defect. This form is insufficient because it is forcing a one date list for problems and this is happening repeatedly. There are no documents to upload, I just sit in the car and wait for it to finally start again.

45 Car Stall problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/06/2016

My Nissan Sentra decided to stall out in the middle of a very busy intersection. Was able to restart the Nissan after about 15 seconds. Later that day I was unable to start my car. Battery was jumped and the car was running until I turned my headlights on. I had to be towed home. I believe my can sensor and crank sensor need to be replaced and there was a recall for this complaint before.

46 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

My son was driving thru a intersection that is when the car stalled out. I have taken it to the machanic and been told that there is nothing wrong with the car. Two weeks later the same thing happened and once again took it back into the mechanic. I just got it back and what do you know the car keeps acting like it is going to stall out. Don't get me wrong the people at the mechanic shop are nice. But after my google search today I am glad I just hope that with these issues something is done before someone gets hurt. I shouldn't be scared that my son goes places and I have to worry that he may have a car accident.

Driving down the highway in 2015 the car engine would just stop running. My husband called the towing company and me after he pulled over after ten minutes or so and the car started again, we cancelled the tow and he returned home but near the home the car stalled out again. We managed to get it started again and drove it to a firestone repair shop which charged us 280. 89 dollars for a crankshaft position sensor. 58 Car Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/07/2014

Car while in drive will stall and idle. Car also has completely shut off while driving and has continuously occurred intermittently. Multiple engine codes have came on and repairs have been completed but the issue continues. At this time crankshift, and cam sensor have been replaced. It has been suggested that transmission be replaced and is currently in process. Reading up on this issue appears there is a recall for same issue for similar vehicles of the same year and make ( NHTSA campaign number: 03v455000) but my vehicle does not qualify for the recall. Issue is a major safety as car could cause accident and occurs at any time including high speeds. I have been fortunate to not drive and have vehicle towed to mechanic for further followup in hopes of resolution. Nissan needs to address as appears to be a repeat issue.

60 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/12/2014

I pulled out of my driveway in June 2014 and the car stalled at about 15 miles per hour while I was driving and the engine light came on. I drive a Nissan Sentra 2008 that I brought in November 2011 with 32,000 miles on it. I took the car to a Nissan dealership and they stated that it was the camshaft sensor that needed to be replaced and it would cost $500. I had already replace the air sensor in 2013 for $400 at the same dealership when the car had 52,000 miles because the engine light was coming on. I contacted Nissan customer service to explore why at 72,000 miles the car needs the camshaft sensor replace and was this a common occurrence. They did not help; had limited answers and stated that they will contact the dealership in 3 to 5 business days regarding financial assistance and explanation. I decided to get the camshaft sensor replaced somewhere else. However, today the car stalled again and now the engine light is on again. I am returning the car to the mechanic that replaced the camshaft sensor. However, I belief there are more electrical/engine problems with the Nissan Sentra 2008 besides the camshaft sensor that the company is not being forthcoming about and this can put my life and others on the road in danger. Please investigate Nissan because they already did a recall on the Nissan altima from 2006 to 2012 for the same part. Thank you.

62 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/05/2014

I was turning and drove thru a intersection that is when my car stalled out. I have taken it to the dealer ship and been told that there is nothing wrong with the car. Two weeks later the same thing happened and once again took it back into the dealership. I just got it back on Friday and what do you know the car keeps acting like it is going to stall out. Don't get me wrong the people at the dealership are nice, but after my google search today I am glad (not really glad sad to see this is a problem but I thought I was going to crazy trying to figure out why) to see that others are having the same exact problem so when I go in tomorrow I have several things to talk to Nissan about. I just hope that with these issues something is done before someone gets hurt. I shouldn't be scared to take my kids places in my car.

64 Car Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/03/2014

We bought this low mileage car from a family member but after buying this car it started getting plagued with the car suddenly and mysteriously shutting off in the middle of driving. Engine died unnanounced car cuts off and the power steering and power brakes stop working. It would happen up to 5 to 7 times a week intermittently. We had taken it Nissan two different times in April to complain about the situation they were unable to diagnose or solve the problem for us or reproduce the problem during test drives. In August took this car back in after it wouldn't run at all and they finally told me it was a camshaft positioning sensor. After replacing this part it runs fine now. After looking online on the NHTSA website it seems this part is part of a recall for this make and model year however I was told it didn't apply to my VIN. I spoke to Nissan headquarters and they again told me they wouldn't cover this as it is not part of a recall. This part looks like it is problematic in this model year and make and also for other cars across the Nissan lineup. I explained that this was a serious problem and it resulted in some significant safety issues. Each time I was able to safely pull off the the side of the road but if it stalled and I wasn't able to get off the highway, or it stalled at an intersection or pulling into traffic say the consequences could have been deadly. I was also lucky that the steering wheel didn't lock up turning the wheel with the car off. Our symptoms with this car were classic. I was very surprised that they could not diagnose this problem in April as the symptoms match they have for known recalls on this and other cars. I would like it covered but more importantly I think the recall should be extended to other vehicles and vins to save lives.

67 Car Stall problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Recently while on the highway my car died for about 3 - 5 seconds while driving 60 mph on the highway then resumed. My car has stalled a few times in the past but usually while accelerating in first or second gear so it wasn't much of a concern. But if my car just dies while driving 60 -70 mph I think there are some safety issues and it should be taken care of. Research indicates it is an issue with the crank sensor and there is a recall for it. For some reason my VIN is not included.

68 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/13/2013

When purchasing my used vehicle from el monte Toyota, notice sensor for tire on, was told be fixed, months later learn rim missing sensor. Light in car also don't work. Driving car immediately was stalling out shutting off when idol. Took car back week later since within 30 day warranty spoke to customer service on recorded call and she didn't thoroughly document conversation. Upon waiting four hours next week, tech drove the car never do a diagnostic. After warranty expired car regularly shut off triggering transmission codes. Out of pocket I paid for transmission flush twice, throttle body replacement, brakes, learning there was transmission recall 2010. Falling behind in payments due. To excessive repair expenses took car to fix at Nissan to get a list more of defects I couldn't afford. I filed a claim with Toyota and was denied by the manager. Had they ran the diagnostic when I brought it in all be avoided. However was advised dealership's are aware of recalls and sold me the car anyway? and refused to fix when I returned and dismissed a claim die to their neglegance. Never buy a car from that dealership and will let anyone looking know of my costly experience. Expect that from a car lot not a reputation like Toyota.

69 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/14/2013

Took off from a stop sign and my car stalled. I turned the car off and on again and it ran fine. This isn't the first time this has happened to me, but the others were when it was pretty cold outside and I deemed that the reason for the stall. Now I believe it has to be something more.
