37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/24/2024

I was driving on the highway and saw that my rpm was fluctuating a lot even though on cruise control, it was losing its power. It started slowing down and even though cruise control was off, I was indeed in drive and not neutral. When I fully pressed the gas it did absolutely nothing. I was close to home 10 minutes so I had to just put emergency lights on and keep going but at the stop signs and lights sometimes it would stop completely and get stuck at 0 even though I was pressing the gas pedal all the way. Once I was going - it let me go, seemed like it allowed it. Then but never past 25 but anytime I slowed it almost shut off or did shut off. This is a safety issue since I am not able to drive the speed limit. I risk getting rear ended. There were no warning messages on my dash when this happened. I took the car to a mechanic, who stated I needed a new transmission. I bought a transmission and the mechanic replaced it. It was fine for a couple days then started having the same problem. I took it to Nissan to get it diagnosed and they stated that it was due to the transmission. Nissan stated the recall expired so they could not help me.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/21/2024

Upon purchasing the vehicle on December 21, 2024, I immediately noticed a delay in acceleration when pressing the gas pedal, particularly after the vehicle had been idling for some time. This delay creates a significant safety risk, especially in situations where quick acceleration is needed, such as merging onto highways or avoiding accidents. Additionally, the vehicle displays incorrect fuel mileage readings, leading to poor fuel consumption and inaccurate fuel gauge readings, further jeopardizing safety due to the potential misjudgment of remaining fuel. During the test drive with the service manager, he almost got into two accidents because of the delay in acceleration. He acknowledged that the issue was caused by the updated cvt transmissions and stated that it would be best to return the car. Despite this, the dealership was unable to fix the problem after multiple visits. I was advised to contact Nissan consumer affairs, who were aware of the delay in acceleration. However, after following up with Nissan, I was directed to file a complaint with the better business bureau (bbb). The issue has been replicated by the service techs, two sales managers, the service manager, and the dealership owner. The service manager confirmed the acceleration delay during the test drive and recommended returning the vehicle due to its unsafe nature. This delay continues to pose a serious safety concern, and I am deeply concerned that it could lead to an accident if not properly addressed.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/11/2024

My 2016 Nissan Sentra malfunctioned while driving on the highway three separate times. The car suddenly lost its ability to accelerate and seemed to power down while becoming more difficult to steer. It seemed to start shuddering and I thought it may have been a front end flat tire. After pulling off the road and putting the car in park, when I waited a minute or two, I placed the car in drive and there was no problem until a month later and it hppended again except on an interstate while driving over a long bridge. Two different Nissan dealers could not diagnose any issues and kind of threw up theirs hands with no suggestions except to bring it in again if it happens once more. The auto has become hazardous to drive for two seniors, and no one seems to be able to diagnose or fix the issues. I read online about Nissan cvt transmission recalls for these Sentras, but never received any recall notifications.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/22/2024

I got this car from rocky mount dealership in 2020, I mentioned less than 30 days it drove funny, then less than 6 months the car had recall, which with everything going on in the pandemic it took a while to get the piece for the recall…again which I reported that the car drove funny less than 5 days of my purchase. Nothing… when the car was service for the recall, I mentioned it drove funny but no lights were on and nothing could be determined due to the recall fixed. Fast forward to now 4 years later the car shakes, jerks, slow to accelerate and the rpm is jumpy. As well as when you switch gears as I’m looking at 3-5k to get this fixed.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/22/2024

The cvt (continuously variable transmission) failed, preventing the vehicle from driving forward. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The transmission failure caused the vehicle to lose power while driving, which could have led to a serious accident if it had happened on a busy road. This failure compromised my control over the vehicle, especially at higher speeds and I was stuck on the road till an officer helped me push the car off the road. Naples Nissan service center has confirmed that the cvt transmission requires replacement. Nissan consumer affairs has been contacted, and a mechanic has inspected the vehicle. However, Nissan has declined to provide any financial assistance or coverage for the repair. No warning lamps or messages appeared before the failure. The transmission gave out suddenly, accompanied by a loud noise while driving. The issue began immediately after this event.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/10/2024

This vehicle was bought back in Jun of this year. Since purchasing the vehicle with only 49,933 miles this Sentra has broken down 4 times, been in the shop for 1month 2weeks consecutively. The first incident was 4. 5 hrs after purchase. The passenger side tide rod snapped in half on the highway causing the jam and slow down along with leaving me in fear for my life. The passenger rim was inverted facing the driver. The second time happened to be the same issue but at a different dealership. The car went to moss bros san bernardino where it was bought and was there for about 25days . Later it was sent to Nissan of san bernardino and was there for 2weeks. The same day it got picked up from Nissan it was taken back the same day. Had same bumpy and shaking throughout the car. When the tie rod snapped in half it had destroyed the durability of the belt and pulley systems as the vehicle weight was slammed abruptly onto the passenger side of the car leaving it slanted and slid for 2-3 mins on the freeway this caused the engine to become weak which led up to the defective parts breaking over time of driving regularly. The alternator pulley, serpentine belt, axle, and balance to become uneven. So as of 09/10 this vehicle has broke down 4-5 times. Been in the shop since. The vehicle has powertrain warranty but as usual they denied coverage. Total cost is around $2,700 in damages due to the original recall. This tie rod recall has destroyed the vehicle. Congratulation to me cause I still owe 22k. This hazardous, and dangerous vehicle has also been deemed unsafe by chp as of 06/11/2024. This particularly Sentra is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode on the freeway.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/28/2024

To whom it may concern, I am writing because there has been transmission issues that my 2017 Nissan Sentra sv has been experiencing since I purchased the car brand new on 04/22/2017. I have documentation of me taking it back to Nissan within the first year due to shaking, overheating and a problem accelerating. Nissan has continued to put a bandaid on the cause and has not addressed the real issue in which is the transmission. There are many articles and court documentation of the Nissan cvt transmission giving people problems in which have bought their cars from 2013-2017/2018. I have taken my car to Nissan and they refuse to address the faulty transmission or pay for any of the repairs. I have documentation over the years from accredited mechanics in which report that the transmission needs. They are trying to charge me over $7,000 for a transmission repair when they are the reason in which it went out to begin with. My car continuted to jerk while driving and stopped while driving in which put myself and others at risk. The dealer acknowledged the recall on cvt transmission and their faulty parts but did not fix it. There was no warning light or lamos that went off prior to this going out and leaving me stranded on the side of the road. My car was looked at in April of 2024 at Nissan and was told there was no transmission issues then I come in and all of a sudden they state it needs to be replaced.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/28/2024

I took my car into the dealership for a recall repair and the following day, I started having situations where the I push the pedal down and the car would not initially move but then would "catch" and begin driving again. What is happening now however is that while I am driving, the car appears to shut off (headlights turn off and all of the lights come on the dash) and then all of the lights on the dash go off, headlights turn back on, and then the car "restarts" and continues to drive.

When driving, the car started to stutter when accelerating and while driving any speed below 60 mph, while trying to get the car home it would not accelerate up a hill after I stopped at a light and I was in the middle of the street stuck on a blind spot. My husband had to get out and direct the traffic before they came pst the blind spot and hit me.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/23/2024

Our Nissan Sentra with 106k miles the car lost nearly all power as my son was turning onto the freeway. He could only drive 16 miles an hour and it was hopping and jumping through a 8 lane freeway/highway intersection while he tried to get into a parking lot off the road. He turned it off, waited 5 minutes, and turned it back on, but it was still slowly hopping and jumping. After another 10 minutes my husband drove it for about 10 minutes and it operated normally. This same behavior happened in 2019 with 82k miles at a large intersection. It suddenly lost power and slowly hopped through the intersection. At 60k the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel quit working. When we asked the Nissan dealership about it, we were told that was typical and it would slowly lose all the functionality of the steering wheel controls. All the functionality was gone by 70k miles. We have learned that Nissan's transmissions are very problematic and these situations are typical as you get closer to 120k miles. We planned to have this car for several more years. If we sell it and buy a different car we are out several thousand dollars or if we keep it we will likely have to pay for a new transmission also several thousand dollars.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/28/2024

My 2017 Nissan Sentra s has a very serious problem whenever my rpm reach 3. 5 to 4. It starts jerking and I can't accelerate anymore,in one occasion after the jerking stop I couldn't drive no more than 5 miles per hour. I have checked for any visible issues but none. No warning lights come on, I carry a scanner with me obd2 but it doesn't have any codes. I have gone online to find a solution but I'm coming across hundreds of people with the same issue but no solution. I called the dealer and I was told that since the car is salvaged there is nothing they can do the car still jerking I just to keep it under or at 3rpm but I can never get on the freeway due to this issue.

64 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/28/2024

Feb 26th, 2024 I drove my car for the first time since having surgery on Jan. 11, 2024. I was going about 35 mph when extremely fast the car radio turned off it felt as if the engine was also turned off but within a blink of your eye the car was turned back on , all by itself, a tiny jerk, nothing major. I instantly looked at the temp gauge, made sure the key was in ignition correctly. There was nothing to signal a problem. The next day I didnt leave my home. On Feb. 28, 2024 I drove the car about 7 miles and it did this same glitch twice . Again all gauges read normal, I got out of the car this time popped the hood. No smoke , no burning smell or any smell at all. I checked the fluids, the belt, the battery connections everything was fine. Later that night a family member had someone try breaking into their home. Very upset I decided to leave my home and drive over to be if some comfort. I drove a total of 21 miles, as I was turning into the driveway the car fid it again however this time I had to get it in park and restart my car. Again no over heating no smoke no burning or fuel smells. I parked the car went inside. About 7 minutes later , definitely no more than 10 minutes, I heared a loud bang. I look outside and my entire motor was on fire and the tire had already blown!! in under ten minutes!! I tried putting the fire out with the water hose but 911 dispatch heard the second tire blow and repeatedly asked me to stop and go inside the home that fire fighters were on their way . I had let my insurance go since I had emergency surgery and was unable to drive or work and pay for it. I bought this car in Aug. 2020 and had to replace the cvt transmission Nov. 2022. And now no car. This could have been a tragedy if anyone had small children and had ran back inside because they forgot a coat or a book bag, please look into this for other customers safety. Firefighters said it was so burnt they couldn't begin to tell how or where the fire started.
