The issue first started last summer. I had a car full of 4 teenagers and we were heading out of town and the engine began a loud whistle sounds and then the gas pedal quit working - we limped off the highway after almost getting hit and got a tow truck and rental car. The mechanic had us pay for a whole new motor. We thought the issue was fixed. Then a couple months later I again had 4 teenagers in my car heading out of town and the whistle noise started about an hour into the trip. Then it got louder. Then the car would decelerate going uphill. Then, as we got to the next exit, the gas pedal stopped working completely. We again almost died, barely made it to the gas station and realized there was an auto zone next door. So we went and had the codes read as the check engine light had just popped on. . . When I turned the car back on, everything worked fine but it had sat for 30 minutes. Research led us to the cvt issues with an extended warranty that had passed. We tried a transmission cooling device and did not drive the car over an hour. But this past week I tried again with 2 teenagers in my car. . . One hour in to a trip, it happened again. This is not ok for a car transmission to decelerate and put my children and my life at risk.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 06v242000 (engine and engine cooling). Approximately two years after the recall repair was performed, the contact noticed blue smoke accompanied by a rattling noise from the exhaust pipe and system. The check engine warning light was also illuminated and the vehicle would sporadically lose power, causing the vehicle to become hesitant upon acceleration attempts. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,700.

1st incident with our new 2013 Nissan Sentra occurred @ 247 mi. , in our possession less than 1 week, going 50mph (2 children in car with me), car just shut off. Dealer reset computer symstem. It has been down hill since, I took it in today for the 5th time since it was purchased 3. 5 months ago (it now has 3700mi). Repeated issues with rpm's running high anywhere between 2,000 & 4,000 or at an all most stop will flutter down to 0 like it's going to stall. Crackling/rattling noises from the driverside dashboard. Now also coming from the a-pillar (?). Issues with speakers (static/crackling noises) had the same break and airbag light issues. There is now growling noises coming from front, car seems to "buck" around 2-4k rpm's. Oh yeah my driver door handle is now falling apart. Did I cover all the problems I have had with a $20+ brand new car???? I think so, but then again we haven't owned it all that long! I did open a claim with Nissan consumer affairs when it was in on it's 3rd visit, I was denied a repurchase, but rest assured a Nissan certified repair shop will fix any problems. Waiting on dealership to decide if they can do anything?! next step attorney!!!!!.

I have a 2007 Nissan Sentra with 53,000 miles. Started making loud rattling noises when turning to right and when cold to start. Started to get very scary and took into mechanic, since Nissan charges $120 just to diagnose, even if under warranty. Mechanic said it was the right motor mount and was extremely unusual to see with such low mileage. I spoke with a friend that worked at Nissan dealership and he said it always happens, and should be a recall. I spoke to corporate, and they refuse to help at all. This should never happen when you take good care of your car and have low mileage. I will never buy Nissan again.

While driving to florida from DC for vacation, the engine started making a rattling noise. Since we were on a trip, I figured I would top off the engine oil just in case. The engine was bone dry. The noise seemed to go away after adding oil at first, but then the noise became louder, and the engine light came on. We took the car to the nearest dealer we could find. When they lifted the hood at the dealer, the oil had exploded and was everywhere. We were told there was catastrophic engine failure in my 2008 Sentra, but they could not determine the exact cause. Since I did not have my maintenance records with me (I was on vacation), they refused to even contact Nissan warranty without proof of all oil changes. They claimed the engine failed due to lack of oil changes. I could not afford a factory engine, so the purchase of a used 2008 Sentra engine voided my extended warranty. At the time of failure, the car had a little over 35k miles. Further research online indicates a possible oil consumption issue, which the dealership denies.

Engine is making a rattling sound during acceleration, stops when vehicle reaches 40-45 mph. Taken to 2 dealer who said to wait and see if it stops doing it, since vehicle has a 5 year warranty. The dealer acknowledged that something was wrong within the engine, but could not determine what it was.
