1 Transmission Failure problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/18/2021

During normal driving conditions, the vehicle's transmission failed to move forward in drive. This happened after stoping at a gas station. I reversed the vehicle to pull out of the spot and switched to drive. Thats when the vehicle failed to move forward. Checked the vehicle reverse, and the reverse continue to work. The vehicle was towed to the house and the nearest Nissan dealer was contacted regarding this issue. The service department supervisor informed me that that issue was well know and the only way to fix the problem was to have the transmission replace at a cost of about $3,750. The vehicle currently has 79,258 miles only. As of right now the vehicle is not drivable.

5 Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/12/2021

I realized I was losing power while driving down the sagtikos parkway. I pulled to the side of the road, turned off the car, and attempted to restart. The car would start, but would not change into drive, nor reverse (or would not register). I was effectively stranded along the parkway. It was determined that my car experienced -- what I understand to be -- transmission failure. I purchased the car only six (6) months ago.

6 Transmission Failure problem of the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/26/2021

The car had been running ok but then out of nowhere the car just stopped and the engine light came on. It could not be driven due to the cvt transmission failing. Had to pay $225 to get it towed to my house at 1:00 am then another $150 to get it towed to the dealer to get a diagnosis for Nissan. They told me that the vehicle was given an extended warranty for 7 years/ 84,000 miles. I am still within the 7 year timeframe but I have 86,439 miles on my car. One original owner before me. Clean car fax report and the car was driven mostly highway miles. I have had it a little over a year and a half and barely put 10,000 miles on it. This car stopped while my 17 year old daughter was driving on a busy highway. She is very lucky that nothing bad happened to her. I have done research and Nissan has nothing but problems with these cvt transmissions and eventually something bad is going to happen to someone because of this. I feel that they are responsible for the cost of this repair as they knowingly are selling these vehicles with transmissions and they have caused more problems for more people. I have an open case with Nissan but I don't know if they will take responsibility for this or not.

8 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/14/2021

Vehicle started having issues with rpms going up, but losing power, jerking, and then on 01-14-21 it completely shut down in the middle of a street intersection and I almost got t-boned. I was told by Nissan to take to dealership for diagnostic testing and they would review the warranty issue if it was the transmission failure that they have been sued for. The mileage was 108,000 when it was towed to the dealer because I did not feel safe driving it. Dealership confirmed transmission needs replaced for just under $4000. Called Nissan corp back who sent the info up for review. On 01-19-21 I received a call from colleen who stated she is the district manager and the vehicle is no longer covered under warranty and they have fulfilled their obligation. Each question was answered with the same verbatim response. I asked to have the case be escalated above colleen due to the fact the transmission went bad early due to their faulty cvt system they continue to sell and have not recalled. After being told she does not have a boss, colleen stated they will give me the same answer as she makes the decision and they have met their obligation. I asked she escalate it anyways. I have yet to hear from anyone else at the Nissan corp.

9 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/07/2020

The cvt in the transmission is failing. When I was driving on the interstate I tried to go 75 and my vehicle would not get up to such speed leading me to drive under 60 until I made it to the nearest exit. When stop my car smelt as if it was a burning smell coming through my vents and under my hood. I then stopped so my car could cool for about a hr then proceed driving home during 40 in the slow lane back home. My vehicle is now parked and Nissan is saying due to my car not being listed by VIN that my car isn't apart of the cvt transmission lawsuit even though it's in that category. I was never notified by mail phone nor email about the issue regarding the issues and wouldn't have known if this problem did not occur.

10 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/18/2020

Transmission started failing, out of Nissan's class action settlement extension to 84,000 miles as my car had 95,000 miles on it. I bought this car brand new and maintained it for my daughter to drive and was hoping it would last her through college. I drove it last Friday, traded it in on Sunday as cost to repair exceeded the value of the car. Was not informed of recall which is odd as only owner of car but regardless the vehicle not safe due to known issues of cvt drivetrain. Car would jump, hesitate, no power then it would catch and lunge when gas applied. Going downhill seemed to cause loss of power and would actually slow car down causing me to have to accelerate to go downhill and thus pull off road to stop and let the car seem to rest prior to interstate driving. Thankful weather not bad when this happened or that my daughter not in a wreck because of this known issue. Will boycott Nissan products rest of my life. Spoke with Nissan rep who informed me nothing can be done by Nissan to help me. I helped myself and bought a Honda.

My transmission failed while I was driving down a main road. I brought it to the dealer twice before. The first time they told me I had to keep driving it until it got worse. The second time they said nothing was wrong with it. I brought it to a transmission expert 5 days later who took pictures as proof that it was failing. The next day is when it broke down. Nissan is producing cars with faulty transmissions and then making their customers pay for it. This cvt transmission needs to be recalled. People's lives are in danger.

18 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/06/2019

Driving home the other night and when I got on the highway the transmission failed. First it started revving really high and not shifting, then it stopped working all together. No matter how hard I pressed on the gas it would not go. It was very dangerous to be stuck on the highway with a car the would not go. Fortunately I was able to crawl to an offramp and onto a side street. I had to have towed to the nearest dealer. After examining it, they said it was making a wining sound and had to be replaced.

19 Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra

20 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

My transmission failed on a major highway. I could not accelerate and narrowly avoided a terrible accident. Prior to this incident, the car was making a small kind of clicking/shuddering sound when I would accelerate. I thought it was an issue with the tires. The dealership told me the transmission was failing, but I thought they may have been mistaken because I was having no issues with moving at the time. Now I understand that the dealership knew it was a transmission issue because Nissan is aware of a major defect with their cvt transmissions, but will not order a recall to correct the problem. My children and I could have been killed on the highway that evening; we barely made it off the road. I am terrified to try to drive the car. There is no reason why a car that I purchased brand new should have transmission failure less than two years after I bought it. This issue needs to be corrected immediately before lives are lost. I'm assuming a family will have to die on a highway before this company will correct their flaw.

23 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/19/2019

We bought our 2013 Nissan Sentra in 2015 from a Nissan dealership. The price tag was somewhere around 20-22 grand. I was expecting that we would be keeping this car for 10+ years. Unfortunately, Nissan failed to tell us about the cars failing transmission when they sold us the car. While driving on a daily basis, the car would oddly pull. But when test driving the car we were assured that this was normal and caused by the cvt transmission. 3 1/2 years later while I was running a normal errand in town, the car failed to accelerate. I tried pulling out into traffic on a heavily trafficked road and had to swerve to the side of the road because I was pressing on the gas and it was not accelerating. I managed to get the car to move again, but I slowly drove on backroads to get the car to the Nissan in our town. Once there, they did a diagnostic test to see what is wrong and guess what? the transmission has failed. Now tell me, why does a 5 1/2 year old car already have transmission failure?? we have only owned the vehicle for 3 1/2 years!! and our warranty ran out at 100,000 miles. We are at 113,000. I believe this car had transmission issues from the first day that we bought the vehicle. I think these cars are not reliable and should be recalled! this car looks perfect and is now worthless.

24 Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/11/2019

Starting around 75,000 miles, my Nissan Sentra started stuttering, stalling, and losing power because of the transmission. My 2013 Nissan Sentra's transmission failed on 4/11/2019 at 83,975 miles (1 year and 23k miles over the warranty). Over the past year, this transmission has been a public and personal safety hazard. I was not comfortable driving this with my children in the car, or on highways in fear of what happened on 4/11 would happen on a major highway. The fact that something so important and expensive would fail on a car so fast proves that this part of the vehicle needs to be investigated and recalled.

Was going down the highway with cruise on at 70mph. Rpms started jumping and lost power. Took to Nissan had it checked snd its a cvt transmission failure at 99,798miles on car. Contacted Nissan USA about it and with a 8 day reply got that its not coverwd under warrenty for a known defect due to they only cover 5/60000 miles not 10yrs/120,000 miles on that vehicle. Car less than 1 1/2 yrs old. So when I took it to dealership like Nissan USA told me to do so they would know whats wrong with it for sure. They tell me they wont fix it. So cost me $130 tk have it checked. And another $270 for a loaner car while dealership had my car. And to get car fixed it will cost me $4000.
