The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Sentra. While driving at a low speed, the contact noticed that the temperature gauge began to increase as the vehicle overheated. In addition, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnosed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). My car (2005 Nissan Sentra 1. 8l engine) began overheating terribly in February of 2010. I brought it into a mechanic, who had trouble diagnosing the problem. When I brought it into a Nissan dealership, they advised that it was a broken headgasket. . Read more...
For the past four years, I have been having a recurring problem with my 2004 Nissan Sentra. Suddenly and without warning, the engine stops working and simply fails while I am driving. Several times, it has happened when I am driving on busy roads and the highway. Most of the time, it has happened while I am driving in and out of parking lots, at low speeds. I have taken the car to Nissan service stations in both California and oregon, but the problem continues to occur. The computer chip has been replaced several times and in August 2009, the computer was replaced. However, it happened again. Nissan said that all was fine, but again last week on Friday oct 2nd the problem happened. The car overheated and had to be towed to beaverton Nissan (oregon). They are replacing the wires to the computer, but I think that there is a manufacturing defect with this car.

2005 Sentra 1. 8 s. Heater would be hot then cold, have replaced thermostat 5 times. Car never overheated. Gauge would go just under 3/4 of way and then suddenly drop to normal. 69,000 miles, check engine light came on, reading multiple misfires. Bringing to dealer for fuel tank recall. Running very rough, rpms 2000 before vehicle will move max out at 5000. As soon as you remove foot from gas, suddenly drops to almost 0 rpms. Dealer said blown head gasket, oil pan gasket bad. Had to have head in machine shop due to 2 plugs stuck. When I picked up vehicle, mechanic said head was warped. I asked what I needed to watch for being that it never did overheat. The response was, with this gauge goes just over half, it is overheating. Ended up costing 2,000. 00 for a 3 yr 4month old vehicle that never overheated.

Thermostat froze shut causing car to overheat and blow the head gasket. Luckily I caught it before it was to late. Im also a mechanic. I had a lose of heat in the car so I knew what it was. This should not be happening to a car with 67k miles. I had to pay 900. 00 for Nissan to fix it as I was in the middle of a move and didn't have access to my tools. All of these listings with sever engine trouble is caused by this overheat issue. The thermostat is defective in many Sentras, then other damage occurs. This will be the last Nissan I buy. In the beginning Nissan told me they would cover this, then after the fact they would not. Also the fuel pump has always been weak and now needs replacement (same mileage) and the cd player quite working. They knew what they were doing with limiting the warranty to 60k.
