The rear axle seals were replaced with oem 2 years ago. They are now leaking again allowing gear lube to run down the tubes onto the rear brakes and tires. Rendering the rear brakes and parking brakes useless and unsafe to drive. This makes the parking brake useless putting the whole trucks weight constantly on the park pin of the transmission. This rear brake loss caused brake fade of the front brake coming off an interstate nearly rear ending another vehicle. I saw on the forums and your own complaint search that it is a very common and dangerous issue and needs to be resolved. The problem must lay in the axles and not the seal themselves to be going so often. I tow sometimes and this is my daily driver so I must fix the problem ASAP. I have to replace brakes and rotors all the way around along with parking shoes axle seals and bearing retainers. This is very expensive.
Rear wheel seal out on 2004 Nissan Titan 4wd. Oil gettin on brake could cause fire.
Rear axle seals began to leak at 75000 miles. Vehicle has been driven on highway at all times. The Nissan dealer notice the leak during an inspection. Numerous forums have complaints of the axle seals failing due to improper venting. Leakage of gear oil onto rear brakes presents a safety hazard to my family. Request Nissan replace axle seals and do a recall to reengineer a new venting system for axle seals.
2004 Nissan Titan spider gears busted, working on getting it fixed now.
I was driving in loose gravel and I felt an unusually feeling in my rear axel, so I drove the vehicle slowly home never felt it until I arrived to my home and then I parked it. I then called a transmission mechanic and had the vehicle towed to transmission repair shop. The repair shop called and tried to get replacement parts for my rear axle and where unable to. So they had to get a hole new rear axle not just new parts but a completely new rear axle. The new rear axle is completely different from the original, which makes me and the mechanic that owns the repair shop believe that the original rear axle was faulty. Other wise why wouldn't the rear end be the same and be able to get replacement parts for the old rear axle like you can with most vehicles.
Hello. I recently bought a 2004 Nissan Titan. When having the vehicle checked for safety, we noticed that one of the rear axle seals on the passengers side were leaking. The seal looked to have lead a fairly large amount of oil that was saturating the rim and also soaked the emergency break on the passenger side. After looking at the car fax in noticed that this same vehicle had a rear axle seal replace in January. I cannot be certain this seal was the same seal as the one in January. The vehicle has 68000 miles on it. After doing some research on Titan talk. Com I noticed that this is a common problem from this truck. I am not sure if anything can be done about it but I do feel like this could turn into a safety issue considering not only that this seems to be a common problem, but that when this problem does occur, it saturates the rims, tires and brakes with oil.
Rear axle oil leak requiring replacement of breather and right rear axle at 45,385 miles. Reoccurred 9-26-11 at 54,718 miles. Internet sites indicate this is a common recurrence and the part was subsequently redesigned. Nissan refuse to stand by their quality and hide behind the warranty terms for a design failure.
Front and rear drive train not properly vented leading to axle seal leaks onto brakes.
My rear axle seals on my 2004 Nissan Titan pick-up truck leaked and cause the rear brakes to fail.
Took 2004 Nissan Titan pickup with 53,479 miles to dealership for oil change and service under recall ntb 352 w93 service manual reference pb081. At completion of work service manager mentioned that rear axle seal service at a cost of approximately 500. 00 should be considered. I did not know at the time that the service should have been covered under warranty. Later on 10/14/2009 took vehicle in for oil change now with mileage over 60k service manager recommended the axle seal service at the cost mentioned above. At 66974 miles I took the truck in to the dealership and I scheduled the axle service on 12/14/09 when slip and abs warning lights turned on, the dealership ordered parts. Further research by me found that this service should have been performed at no cost under 60k warranty period. I believe the dealerships service manager waited until my vehicle was over 60k and therefore out of warranty.
Rear axle seals are leaking causing difficult braking, grinding noise and take off problems. Vehicle is an 2004 Titan with 58500 miles. All stock, no towing. Dealer will look at it but won't warranty work.
Axel seal leak on a long 2,500 vacation drive that could have caused a bad accident if all the gear oil would have been lost. Luck it was discovered soon enough that I could fill the diff back up. Seals have been replaced previously as well as the whole axel on a different occasion. These axel and axel seal problems may cause a deadly accident one day. My truck only has 54,000 miles on it.
Rear axle is leaking on both rotors as of now.
Rear seal on 2004 Nissan Titan leaks.
Rear axle seal leaks; 2004 Nissan Titan.
The rear end is making horrible clanking sound and took to a shop, they said it was going out.
2004 Nissan Titan rear axle seal failure. First notice oil leaking from both axle seals when changing shocks at 41,000 miles. Brought to dealer was told axle seals had failed and were going to be replaced under warranty, at 44,400 miles went to get inspection sticker and the parking brake failed, upon further investigating this was due to the fact that the seals had failed again and slung oil all over the rear brake system I would think this is a huge safety issue. This time they fixed the seals but I was told that they were failing due to the fact of a problem with the axle, now I am over the 5 year warranty and there telling me it my not be covered still waiting to hear. This seems to be a common problem and should be recalled to be fixed at Nissans expense. One time this is going to happen and someone's brake are going to fail from the oil and cause a serious accident resulting in injury or death! something need to be done before its to late.
My 2004 Nissan Titan recently started leaking gear oil from both axles in the rear. Concurrently my brake pads starting absorbing the oil which in turn ruined my rotors, brake pads, and now is costing me a pretty penny to get it fixed. My mechanic said the local auto parts stores do not carry these bearings and seals and therefore must contact the original dealer to order them. After reading and following up on the additional complaints by many other Titan owners, I am curious to find out what steps in Nissan taking to recall these bad seals and bearings? why should us the owners have to fix costly repairs when Nissan knows their production efforts were not properly tested before fielding the dealerships? please inform me how to get it fixed free of cost to me.
2004 Nissan Titan rearend failure just after extended warrenty!!no parts offered from dealer aftermarket parts are tring to pick up the slack . So far no luck!!.
Rear axle seals leaking and spilling onto disc brakes.
I own a 2004 Nissan Titan and in October of 2008 I was told that I needed to replace the rear axle seals and bearings and the front pinion seals. The parts were available and the rear end was fixed on April 15, 2009 but not able to get the front done yet. This problem come about a year after owning it and about 12000 miles after the warranty was up. I have files a complaint to Nissan north America.
Nissan Titan rear axle seals leak.
During routine inspection, I found that the right rear axel seal was leaking so much that it had actually moistened the brake caliper and rotor. This is causing my truck to pull to the left during normal braking applications.
Rear axle seals leaking - both sides.
Rear axle seals defective. Leaking is bad whereas it is covering brakes. I have had it checked twice by 2 separate mechanics and the dealer and it was verified. I also conducted my own personal survey and found that 3 out of five Titan and armadas owners had to have this repaired.
Rear axle seal failure passenger side of the truck. Currently at 59k miles.
Failure of rear axle seals on 2004 Nissan Titan xe resulting in abs brake failure. Seals were replaced by private service garage.
I bought a 20004 Nissan Titan used and within months both the front and rear diff. Have gone bad and had to be replaced. Now when it gets cold my door handles freeze. The handles can not be opened ,then they will not close you need to hold them closed and lock the doors to keep them closed. This is unsafe.
I hear a clunk from the rear end whenever I shift from reverse to drive, kind of like if a u-joint was going out. I also hear a low pitch whine at acceleration 50-60 mph, but don't hear it upon deceleration. I also have a rear axel leak on passenger side, and noticed that my rear diffs paint is peeling which looks to be from excessive heat.
I nearly rolled my truck yesterday at 75mph. The rearend locked up and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. I have since done some research only to find out that this is a huge issue with the 04 Nissan Titans! this could have cost me or another innocent person their life! now I am left to face a repair bill of $3500 for a new dana rearend, Nissan and dana corp need to be held accountable for these cheap, unreliable rearends!!! please help!.
2004 Nissan Titan rear axle seal leaking at 60,000 miles causing oil to get on brakes.
2004 Nissan Titan. The rear end is about to fail or has failed. There seems to be play in the drive line when you accelerate causing a slight bump. No thing has been done at this time.
2004 Nissan Titan - rear end axle seals failed and the rear end is about to fail.
2004 Titan pickup; I had front end alignment problems from the time of purchase and four alignments and three sets of tires later I finally got the alignment right with a private business. The rear axle seal began leaking I think before the warranty ran out but the dealer servicing the truck did not make me aware of the problem until the warranty expired.
First time pulled a trailer and rearend burnt the gears up 12-13-04. Second time 12/12/05 pulled away from stop sign and rerend just broke if I had ben in traffic I probably would have ben hit because the truck just stoped they replaced the whole rearend but dont seem willing to show the old parts or the oil out of the thing.
