Takata recall I went to grey daniels Nissan in brandon, mississippi last year (I want to say August) after reading an article on a financial column I follow in regards to the takata air bags. I was not notified in anyway prior to that. I bought my vehicle used from someone which is what I blamed for not being notified. (however I know that is quite possible that a large company such as Nissan keeps records of vins and could track their vehicle's ownership through that) they replaced the passenger side air bag and broke part of my dash in the process. I was notified that the driver's side air bag was unavailable for replacement and would not be until the beginning of this year. Even though I know that they make replacement air bags for vehicles, I made an excuse and told myself, "maybe it's a certain company they're going with. " I have been trying to get the driver's side replaced since the beginning of this year. Their website would not allow me to schedule anything more than two days in advance until last week, when it allowed four days in advance. I made my appointment and clearly stated why I was coming in. I was informed that it would was not available at that time and they would have to order it. I know people who have other manufacturers who have gotten a rental car while they were fixing the air bag. I was told to contact my insurance company so the insurance company would pay for the rental, not Nissan.
Nhtsa recall 17v-449 my local Nissan dealer has not replaced my drivers side air bag. I have been on a waiting list for 6 months!!!!.
Takata recall - I found out about the driver side airbag recall on August 10th from social media and called my dealership on August 12th (ferman Nissan in tampa, FL) expressing my concern about the recall and asked for it to be repaired. I was told that repairs were not available at the time, nor did they expect them to become available until mid 2018. I expressed my discomfort at driving around in a potentially fatal vehicle and requested a loaner vehicle until my car was repaired. I was denied a loaner vehicle from the dealership, and was told to contact corporate about it. I did, and received an email on August 22nd denying me a loaner vehicle, and was told to contact my dealership. I don't feel safe driving my vehicle every day, but have no other choice.

Awaiting repair of the takata passenger-side airbag, I noticed on the NHTSA website that Nissan had published a fix for the issue. I drove to my local dealership this morning to start the repair process but I'm told that there's no recall on my vehicle (despite proof that I'm in the first of three groups listed for dealers). So I'm more aware of Nissan's documented recall than Nissan itself?.
