The fan motor on the ac/defrost stops working leaving the operator no way to defrost the vehicle when ever the windshield either frosts or fogs over. This renders the car unsafe to drive in the winter. The a/c will continue to stay on regardless if you select it or not. There are literally a few thousand owners with this identical issue with this vehicle. All of them needed to replace this part which can cost on avg. $500 or more. The dealer states they are unaware of this issue but they stock the part. How many vehicles have to experience this issue before Nissan recalls the vehicle to replace the part?.

When the problem initially happened, I would have to push the rear defroster button hard (and sometimes wiggle it) in order to make it work. However, after a week of doing that to get the snow, frost, and fog off my rear windshield, the button no longer works (I. E. The light indicator does not come on, nor does the rear defroster turn on). After checking all my fuses (in the hood and cabin) and finding that the fuses were in perfect working order, I began to look on various Nissan Versa forum sights to see if I could troubleshoot the matter. After typing my problem in, numerous Nissan forums popped up discussing this exact problem. Many people have stated that the reason the rear defroster does not work is due to an inferior a/c controller. I understand that times are tough and companies want to make money by using cheap parts, however when it comes to safety this should not be the issue.

2012 Nissan Versa. Consumer writes in regards to several issues with vehicle and quality
the consumer stated the defroster was a major concern. In order to turn on the defroster, he must turn the knob to defrost, but also slide the horizontal switch underneath the dash to defrost as well. Then, he had to turn the driver and passenger side vents toward the glass, all while operating the vehicle. The defroster worked fair at best. It only eliminated about half the fog on the front windshield and none on the rear windshield and side windows. Half the time, when the consumer attempted to turn off the vehicle, the key did not want to come out of the ignition. He would have to jiggle the key and the shift knob to get the key out. The auto door locks did not unlock when he put the vehicle in park. The vehicle had to be turned off in order for the auto doors to unlock. Also, the transmission would emit a loud bang, when the consumer put the vehicle in reverse.

I continue having concerns with this car because the vehicle will blow out cold air continuously for about 45 minutes then it will start blowing out warm air. When I take it to the dealer to be repaired they repair something or can not seem to find anything wrong. This vehicle has been in and out of the shop since day one of purchase for the same thing and the car is still not repaired. The Nissan corporation does not want to consider it a lemon but I have had the car since September 2, 2011 bought it with 15 miles and had to take it to the dealer on September 3, 2011. The brake rotors were not set, the gas tank wire broke when first pulled. What is it going to take for Nissan to realize there is something is wrong with this vehicle?.
