Nissan Versa owners have reported 29 problems related to wiper (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Versa based on all problems reported for the Versa.
A critical safety concern arising from the evaporator core defect in the Nissan Versa relates to the vehicle’s inability to properly control interior humidity and prevent window fogging during rainy conditions. When the evaporator core fails, the air conditioning system cannot effectively dehumidify the air inside the cabin. As a result, drivers are forced to keep the windows rolled up in rain or inclement weather to avoid water intrusion, which causes moisture to accumulate inside the vehicle. This excess moisture leads to rapid fogging and clouding of the windows, severely impairing driver visibility. Reduced visibility directly increases the risk of accidents, creating a hazardous driving environment. Unlike a simple comfort issue, this malfunction compromises a fundamental safety feature—clear vision—making it not only a nuisance but a critical safety hazard. Therefore, this defect justifies urgent recall action to prevent accidents and protect drivers, passengers, and other road users from potentially life-threatening situations caused by impaired visibility. What’s even more troubling is that I’ve found I am not alone in this. Numerous Nissan Versa owners have posted online about experiencing the same a/c failure and evaporator core issues. This is not an isolated case. This is a pattern — and that makes it a manufacturing problem. A vehicle that cannot regulate its internal temperature in hot weather presents a real and immediate health risk. It should qualify as a safety defect under federal standards. Nissan must be held accountable, and the individuals responsible for the design, production, or approval of this flawed system must take responsibility. Consumer complaints: there have been reports from Nissan Versa owners experiencing fogging windows due to ac issues. For instance, a 2017 Nissan Versa owner reported that all windows were unclear and covered with a film and spots, creating a visibility hazard while driving . (more examples)…could not fit.

My windshield started to crack from the very bottom middle (just above the hood) and made its way up and splintered in multiple directions rapidly. I believe it's maybe heat related (probably defective) because I can't find an impact spot if it was a rock or something similar. I can feel the crack on the outside of the windshield at the very bottom (just above the hood) where the glass starts for about 3 maybe 4 inches, a nice little groove then after splintering in multiple directions I can no longer feel the cracks. Can you please look into this issue.
I purchased 2021 4 months ago. Two weeks ago on a very hot day my driver side visor broke. I called nessan holiness and told them the visor drops. It obstructs vision of driving. I called today and first was put on hold, then call was disconnected. I recalled back and informed nessan about driver side visor. As we were talking she asked me if I bought car with extended warranty. I said no. Car was sold as is. She hung up the phone on me. She did not call me back, nor did she explain why for hanging up the phone. I googled nessan Versa driver side visor faulty and found several complaints by other owners about visor dropping down while driving do to cheap visor parts. I don't believe this is my responsibility or other nessan owners to futuristic keep replacing the driver side visor. Nessan should have a recall on this problem and be forced to make a better quality visor to prevent possible accidents.

After I bought my 2015 Nissan Versa with VIN: 3n1cn7ap3fl925423 in April 2019, the water gained entry inside the car due to heavy rain a month later. The incident has continued to occur; unfortunately, I had kept blaming it on the height between the parking ground and the car floorboard. The design flaws on the Versa allow water to collect below the windshield. When the collected water doesn't drain, so it flows into the car on the front passenger side floor below the compartment gloves area. It causes visibility problems during rainy and winter seasons since the inside car is not completely sealed causing insulation issues. I had to buy different products to address the visibility problems. My car got flooded last may 2022 to the point I had to get a cup to get some of the water out. I started hearing a sloshing sound and quirking sound when pressing on the brake not too long and so on. I initially paid $1,200 to repair the electrical problems to a Nissan dealer and later found out the harness needed to be replaced due to water damage costing $7,200. The design flaw made my car unsafe due to the visibility problem during inclement weather. There is a blog where 2014 through 2018 Nissan Versa owners describing the same issue I have been experiencing. I am dumbfounded Nissan has never bothered to address this issue for so long; very few people have a disposable income to pay for repairs or constantly buy a new car in less than 5 years. The sad thing, I had to borrow money from my life insurance to pay the car off. I know Nissan will use the inspection defense. Please keep in mind all the cars that have been recalled before passed inspection, so it is not a valid point. . Read more...

It was a cold February morning when a hard frost had hit our area. I was starting my car to defrost the windshield and warm up before work. After finishing up inside I hopped into my car and noticed a crack right away!!! it started at the very top where the defrost starts and has now traveled through the middle towards the bottom. After taking it to a dealership the response gives was that it was a stress fracture. . . . There sincerely needs to be a recall on the windshields of other models too. . Like my daughter's 2020 rogue. . Hers did the same thing!!!! make it right Nissan!!???.
New car purchased 10/19/2021. Did not test drive at night. When I drove it the next night there is severe rear windshield refraction/distortion at night. Multiple head light reflections for every car behind. Unable to safely determine where cars are behind my vehicle. Contacted east charlotte Nissan and made an appointment to have it fixed. When I arrived, the tint person told me it was a manufacturers defect and I would just have to get used to it. No one can safely drive at night when their rear view looks like this. Left the dealership and called back spoke with the service manager. They are going to remove the dealer installed tint today to see if that fixes this problem or if is fact it is a manufacturer defect.
Dodge ram. Early 2000s grey with a lot of paint peeling and a gate type accessory across the back window of the truck. Lifted. They're vehicle is blowing so much black smoke I couldn't see while driving and puke to breath because I had a window open. There unsafely weaving in and out of traffic without signaling and while blowing tons of smoke. Could easily have caused an accident. Washington license plate number [xxx]. 5pm in east bremerton wa. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My air conditioning is not working. I believe wires in my care are covered with soy which is an attractant to mice and rats and causes them to climb into my car and eat the wires, causing the car to malfunction. We need to outlaw and ban the use of soy feedstuffs on car wires, this is just ridiculous for allowing this to happen, to make cars a magnet for mice and rats.
My daughter was driving down I-75 when a small gravel hit the bottom passenger side of her car windshield. Made a small divot that quickly shot across her windshield putting her in danger. See photos. Car has roughly 1300 miles.

The intermittent wipers will not speed up when adjusting the dial. They will only go one speed. They go very slowly and it's not enough for moderate to heavy rain. This happens when driving at speed in the rain on any street including highways.

I was driving on a highway at night when a car with lights as bright as a football stadium came up behind me. I could no longer see the road in front of me and had to slow down and pull off the road until the car went around me. This was dangerous and could have caused a horrific accident with possible deaths.
On Nissan motors USA website, the lower trims levels of the Versa sedan do not include backup cameras! wasn't that made mandatory!?.

While vehicle was in motion on 495 highway (approx. 65 mph) the breaks failed to work when pressed trying to pull off at my exit. Once driving on back roads the breaks seemed to be working again. This type of incident has happened a few times prior to this but not as severe. Has not happened again since then (approx. 3-5 months).
Hood latch failed, hood popped open while driving on a highway about 45-50 mph, causing damage to both front fenders & hood brackets.
Stirring is making a noise when backing up when wheels are turning. Wipers blades makes noise on drivers and doesn't clear view on passenger side. Having problems finding replacement parts. Cd player has a reading erra, want play at all. Tried cleaner but still doesn't work.

Both front sun visors have failed and hang down so the field of view looking out through windshield is obstructed. Contacted Nissan and they want us to pay $500. 00 to correct the problem, says it was not recalled and vehicle is out of warranty. Will need to get velcro and diy to correct problem until something is done to force them to comply with safety issue.
Left turn signal dims or goes out completely when atmospheric moisture is present (rain/cold). Nissan dealership fixed as "bulb issue," but issue persists. Nissan appears unable to diagnose cause. Driver concerned of potential safety implications due to problematic signal.
Front windshield wipers stall for 20 seconds and wiper controller does not fix it. Manual 1x wipe will not turn off when in use and will sometimes cause wipers to stall. Intermittent use is not functional due to constant stalling. Car has to be completely turned off for 2 minutes at least for it to reset and stop the motor. This problem gets worse when it's cold outside.
Driving to ala. From GA. Had difficult time seeing out windows and windshield due to condensation building up inside on the drivers side, passenger side, and windshield. It was raining & diff in temp. , had to stop several times and wipe off with cloth towels. Went to dealership to get radio replaced and showed them the trunk was wet (carpet showed rings) and the right drivers door had big gap between the front of the car and door frame area - it is separating from the frame on both sides. The front doors on both sides are below the back doors and the gaps are increasing whenever I drive the car. Inside the windshield seal plastic has started to peel off twice. The wiper blades has been replaced three times because they just start to tear in small areas. All of this has been brought and seen by the service dept. Even when the moisture collects inside during a rain shower (defroster won't prevent this) . They have refused to fix the leak in the trunk or the doors. I am scared that one of the doors will fall off. The gap has increased in 6 weeks you can stand 2 ft. Away and see the screws. I can hardly lock the car (manually). No Nissan dealership will fix it within 120 miles. I do not know why. The manufacturer knows this and it is under warranty. Also, there is a awful smell when I start it within the system, but they said it was me not the car.
They window shades in the front are tiny. They do not keep out the sun. They let allt eh sun enter the car so that yoy ucannot see when driving. They went cheap on the window shades in the fronrt. They don't protect the dirver. They are tiny tiny tiny and I guess cost 25 cents to make. This is a cheap car, but safety things must be fair for the drivers protection.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that there was a crack stretching from the driver to the passenger's side of the windshield. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the windshield was under too much stress. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.
The driver side power window goes down every time as expected, but does not always roll up as expected. Sometimes I have to wait several minutes before the switch will do anything at all, sometimes I only have to wait a few seconds. The auto-up function stops working frequently, and the motor for the power window has to be reset for it to start functioning properly again. The dealership's fix to the problem was to show me how to reset the motor instead of actually fixing the window. It's especially problematic when it's raining outside and the window decides it's not going to roll up, but it does it in rain or shine, so I know it's not a problem of the controls getting dripped on. I bought the car preowned with 40k miles on it, so I don't know if this has always been a problem, or if it started after I purchased it.

Dash button for rear defroster doesn't work at all and a/c button is working only when pressing it for an extended period of time or if you apply extreme pressure and wiggle the button. During a rainy period this is causing a hazard because one cannot see clearly due to the fogging of front and rear windows.
I purchased my 2011 Nissan Versa 1. 8 base model hb at the end of 2010, almost 1 year later my vehicle began giving me problems: the headlight bulbs were burning out after using the high beams for a short period of time. I've changed my bulbs over 10 times since I've had my vehicle. The next issue I have is the windshield/rear window spray pump, it suddenly stopped working so I checked to see if it was low on liquid it was I refilled but it still would not work, so I took the car in at vacaville Nissan to see if they can find any leaks. No leaks were found. So where is the liquid going? all in all I asked if my car was on recall, they said no! I go through light bulbs almost every month, and its bad that I have to pull over into a gas station every time my windshield gets dirty, this is not fair to me as to why this is happening! I then, went back to Nissan to see how much it would cost to not only diagnose the issue with my headlights but to pay for and install a new spray pump. Diagnose $250. . . I don't have that kind of money!, new spray pump + installation labor =$4500, really?!.
I own a 2009 Nissan Versa. The window wipers are designed such that the drivers side wiper blade is 2x the passenger blade. When using the wipers (rain or cleaning the windows) the drivers side blade throws water on to the passenger side and as the passenger side blade has already completed its swing thus the passenger side window in never clear of water, when driving the water builds up on the passenger side faster than the wiper can clean it due to the extra water from the drivers side wiper (for me this is right in my field of vision). This causes a problem because I can not see traffic coming out of the side street on the right. When you clean the window the only way to clean the passenger side is to run the wipers dry after you are done to finish the passengers side. I brought this up to the dealer and the Nissan district manager charles rice; his comment was this is how it is designed. To me this is an unsafe design, you need to be able to see out the passenger side of the car when it is raining.
