Service Brakes Problems of Nissan Versa - part 1

I pulled up to a stoplight that was on a hill and tried to put on the brake. The brake pedal was highly resistant and wouldn’t let me push down fully. At that moment, all of the warning lights on the dashboard turned on. When the light turned green, I tried to hit the gas pedal but the car wouldn’t move forward. The car started rolling backward and I almost collided with the car behind me. I had to stomp on the brake as hard as I could to get the vehicle to stop. I then had to put on my hazards, put the car in park, turn it off, and turn it back on again before the vehicle worked like normal. My spouse said he’s had the same thing happen to him twice in the past year. Each time, the brakes and accelerator pedal freeze up and all the warning lights come on. But after turning the car off and on again, it goes back to normal. I don’t think this is a battery problem because the car battery is less than one year old.

Good afternoon this is [xxx] the car wholesale auto naugatuck CT number we got a Nissan Versa 2020 picked it up on [xxx] the car is having same issues twice it is drifting to one side mostly when braking I first got it fixed myself with new control arm in the front because the car was favoring the the passenger side and wheels would get locked we got it fixed form the dealership first then the bolts came off three weeks later the tire got dislodged we had it fixed again they extended the warranty but same problem show up again it’s safety issue seems the car was in an accident on passenger side which damage the wheel rod which is wearing out the bolts and joint in the control arm and the steering and suspension. Brake's grind and squeal at a slow stop even with new brakes and rotors and electric problems like it's blowing headlights with in weeks of installing and tag lights as well.

2021 Nissan Versa s on Aug 26th 2023 driving back from NY heading toward MA. When a malfunction sign came up on the dashboard of the car. We pulled over trying to figure out what was happening and took a picture of the warning sign also the break assist showing something just happened. Turned the car off and the driver turned the car back on. Continue driving. 20 miles down the road the car brakes locked up the car skid a bit jerking driver and passenger forward. The driver stopped the car. A warning sign was on the dashboard showing a yellow square in front of a car and above two cars colliding. Monday I called the Nissan dealership and explained it and how that is very dangerous and a safety issue. Lady said yes it is and we need to get you right in and said she was going to connect me with the service manger. After learning what happened he said yes that could be an issue and we need you to bring it in. Then said you did purchase the vehicle here said no in vt then changed his tune now said we cant get you in right away don't have any opening. Made an appointment for sept 7th 11:00 am. I called Nissan corporation and reported the issue and the way I was treated and how this vehicle is a safety risk to us and the public. Was connected to Nissan consumer affair. Explained it to the lady she was going up the chain and get this taken care of. We emailed. I have the emails. Called another Nissan dealer where we purchased it. Took me in the next morning. Ran a test then explained the test showing there's been a number of malfunctions happening. Said vehicle isn't having the issue at this moment so it passed. Said it was ok to drive. Happened again appointment day came the 7th. Service manger called me saying he can't get me in needs to reschedule. That afternoon happened again causing a crash. With a utility pole. Showing emails and pictures to police. The police report reads mechanical issue. I've tried uploading won't let me. But can email if need be.

Traffic stopped suddenly when I hit my brakes they failed to work and the airbags didn’t work either so I ended up hitting my head on the roof of the car when I ran into the truck that suddenly stopped in front of me at speed of about 50mph. I don’t feel good but have no way to get medical attention right now. And was just released from having some head trauma the day before the accident. My car was totaled in the accident so I don’t need additional recall information on it, and no insurance to fix it so now I don’t have any way to get a new car.

For ten days my car suddenly loses 90% or more braking power—after moving at above 40 miles per hour for five minutes or more. Incredibly dangerous and no war I g lights and hard to diagnose. We are replacing master cylinder as they were investigated on this year and model. I want them to reopen that investigation and I want compensation.

I carry my family with me and in traffic the traction control light would come on and the car would loose power and not accelerate almost causing accidents I was told it was the speed sensors malfunctioning and the brakes would not work properly when trying to stop.

I carry my family in the vehicle and the lights would come on for the traction control and check engine light and speed sensor light and the car would stop moving and shut off while going down the road and the brakes would barely work and the transmission would stop pulling or slip and the engine would not rev up that is really dangerous when your traveling with traffic something needs to be done about this and I have read alot of other complaints about the same problems that other people are having.

2019 Nissan Versa sedan has a transmission issue where you stop and immediately or within up to 3 seconds, there is a clunk. The engine is jumps forward, causing the engine to rock. In a range of years, up to 2017, there is a recall on the transmission. For 2018, which is just for that year, is a recall for that transmission. How can I find out if 2019 recall is in a preliminary stage at Nissan and will be released later this year? I feel it's a safety issue because the transmission can stop working while I'm on the highway which could cause an accident at high speeds. The mechanic at dealership said that they do not get any codes when there is an issue within cvt type transmission. He stated basically there are no way to open transmission, to exchange parts, due to, no codes for inside of transmission. He stated Nissan altima transmission was fixed for the year 2019. Then the made the fixes for 2019 Versa. Seeing the pattern with 201? to 2017, & 2018 recall on transmission.

While in reverse the automatic braking system locked up. There was nothing behind me or in my camera visually. Then I went to pull forward, the panel lights lit up, and, crash lights front can't up and the radar front light. My car has stayed in the shop at Nissan since January 2022 to present except for 4 weeks. Nissan refuses to deem as a lemon, yet everything is pointing to what other owners have experienced with this particular car. When those brakes locked up my car is no longer stable to drive, yet Nissan is saying it's a shock on the right side. A shock doesnt go out at this early in a brand new car. Nor does all of the components mentioned. We take meticulous care of our vehicle. I have a case opened with Nissan USA consumer affairs currently. Car is still in shop.

After I bought my 2015 Nissan Versa with VIN: 3n1cn7ap3fl925423 in April 2019, the water gained entry inside the car due to heavy rain a month later. The incident has continued to occur; unfortunately, I had kept blaming it on the height between the parking ground and the car floorboard. The design flaws on the Versa allow water to collect below the windshield. When the collected water doesn't drain, so it flows into the car on the front passenger side floor below the compartment gloves area. It causes visibility problems during rainy and winter seasons since the inside car is not completely sealed causing insulation issues. I had to buy different products to address the visibility problems. My car got flooded last may 2022 to the point I had to get a cup to get some of the water out. I started hearing a sloshing sound and quirking sound when pressing on the brake not too long and so on. I initially paid $1,200 to repair the electrical problems to a Nissan dealer and later found out the harness needed to be replaced due to water damage costing $7,200. The design flaw made my car unsafe due to the visibility problem during inclement weather. There is a blog where 2014 through 2018 Nissan Versa owners describing the same issue I have been experiencing. I am dumbfounded Nissan has never bothered to address this issue for so long; very few people have a disposable income to pay for repairs or constantly buy a new car in less than 5 years. I was driving along and I went to stop but the brake didn't stop the car so I put in the car in park. Then the brake and engine lights started flashing at me so I turned of the car. I wasn't driving very fast at all, probably less than 20 miles per hour. Then when I restarted the car the brake and engine lights cam back on and the brake still wasn't working, and the car rolled while it was in park. I was not able to move the car to a safe spot. I had to sit partially in a traffic lane near a dangerous, blind curve. A sheriff's deputy saw my car and pulled in behind me to help protect me while we waited two hours for the auto club. My mechanic said the transmission totally failed and caused the problems.

1) when at red light with car in drive and brake pedal pressed the car occasionally begins to roll forward and then the brakes suddenly depress even more. 2) all brake lights intermittently go out and if hit will come back on for an unknown time until u realize they're not working again. 3) I have already had to replace the fuel pump twice with only 60k on miles on the car.

Brake pedal is to small my right foot keeps sliping off the pedal I fell like it might cause a rear end accident.

On several occasions while driving on minor icy or snowy roads (not extremely slick) when I depress the brakes the car does not stop or slow. I hear a rattlling noise in the front of the car that I am told is the vehicle dynamic control system engaging. I press down on the brake and the rattlling continues but the car does not slow or stop. I have narrowly missed having two serious accidents when I had to pull of the road or into another lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I was not following closely, the car failed to brake on each instance for 80-150 feet. The flashing icon comes on showing the vdc is in use. During the last most serious instance the icon showing that the system had turned itself off came on. I know you are not supposed to pump the brakes with the system, and I did not until the last moment when I had to turn sharply to avoid a collision. Pumped, turned and brakes finally held. In each case I was travelling at 25-30 mph on level two lane highway in snowy, icy, but not severly so,conditions. I have been driving in colorado for 40 years and have never had an accident, or difficulty controlling my car in ice or snow. On two other occasions under similar circumstances the brakes held but the car pulled sharply to the right or left. I am scheduled to see dealer tomorrow.

The fuel doesn't pump correctly as it should. The fuse burnt out. The automatic braking randomly activates for no apparent reason while driving. It also doesn't activate at all. The front end of the car lifts upward like a wheelie from a stop light. There was smoking and burning smell from under the hood.

The front airbag is not functioning properly. Because of the steering I almost had an accident, my wheel didn't want to turn. The brakes always make noise.

Have had to have the roters, brakes and tire changed about every 2 months, I only drive maybe 2000 miles monthly. Within 2 months the car is shaking.

When I drive in the winter time and apply the brakes on a slippery road the car doesn't want to stop no matter how many times I try to use the brakes. Instead, the brakes pop and click until my car slows down on its own. I ended up sliding literally in the middle of the street at a busy intersection. Other drivers were aware my car was having trouble stopping and allowed me to proceed. That happened in the 1st time in December 2017. The following year I had my brakes check and the service station claimed the couldn't find any thing wrong with them. I had my brakes serviced before the winter of 2018. My brakes still do the exact same thing all winter long on the slippery streets. Also I'm having trouble trying to turn the key in the ignition because it's locked. When I finally managed to get the car up and running a little while later it wants to stall. This just happened the last 2 days. I'm going to get that serviced ASAP. That day was November 23, 2019. This vehicle has several issues and it's only 3 yrs old. That's not a good sign.

Having problem stopping my car in wet or snowy weather. Anti-lock breaks not working correctly. There is a recall for my year but when I do a search it says there are zero recalls for my vehicle. Transmission does nit shift properly.

Car cuts off while driving without warning lights or engine lights. In the middle of traffic. Car was in motion but in slow traffic. Also, brakes almost stopped working.

First issue was a defective brake system. The part that compressess air to make a hydrologic had a hole. You could hear what sounded like a basketball being deflated near the brake pedal. They fixed it this was at about 25k miles. And now the persistent problem is the transmission. It makes my car jerk or run with reduced power, or sometimes more power. Its very annoying and a burden. Also the fuel oxygen intake ratio has to constantly be reset by me either switching the car to neutral while driving or by turning the engine off then turning back on 5 seconds later, then turning it off again. And turning it back on 30 seconds later, and repeating the 30 seconds on and off until the engine sounds stable. Also the Nissan dealership totally took advantage of me. And they still treat me average at best when I get my lio changes there. And always make comments about the mileage. I don't even complain to them about the car.

Shaking brake pedal, difficulty slowing the car down while driving.

When car is in motion the brakes will not work and it slides. The abs and traction control lights come on and the speedometer jumps. I've had 2 mechanics look at it and they say its because the axle nut backs off. Took it to gunter Nissan on 6/6/19 and they refused to service it saying I had to contact Nissan corporate but Nissan corporate says I have to take it to a dealership.

Whenever I step on the brakes slowly the car wants to turn off. It pushes itself. Also when I step on the gas it lags to speed up.

While driving, noticed mostly after exiting the highway, the brake pedal will be spongy. This happens intermittently and cannot be predicted in advance. The vehicle does stop, but braking takes longer than normal.
