The fuel gauge is giving incorrect reading.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. While refueling the vehicle, it was discovered that the fuel gauge was inoperable. The service engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
The fuel gauge failed and the service engine soon light came on. After each refueling, the gauge registers empty for a while and then reports erratically on the fuel level and is not reliable. I see on-line that this is a known problem and was addressed with an extended warranty up to 72000 miles. If this is a known part failure, why wasn't it/ isn't it handled as a recall?.
2007 Nissan Xterra fuel sending unit failed. The service engine soon light came on and the fuel gauge is not working properly. The vehicle was near empty before we realized the fuel gauge was not working properly.
Traveling on bumper to bumper traffic and almost was hit by a tractor trailer due to fuel gauge not working properly. Check engine light had not come on yet. Several hours latter it did come on. This is afety I was luck to not be hit at high rate of speed by tractor trailer.

1/4 tank of gas in car service engine light came on went to gas station on filled up and the fuel gauge would not read. After 2 day gauge for fuel level worked and ses light went off 2 days later ses light back on and fuel gauge not working went and had tested said that this is a common problem and has been recalled on other years but for what ever reason Nissan did not recall this year. Company need to recall and fix this issue.
Gas in car was at a 1/4 tank and service engine light came on went and filled tank up and gas gauge not working after driving the car twice the light went off and the gauge was working 3 days latter same issue. I do see where there was a recall for the 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 Xterra for the same issue but they failed to recall the 2007 year for the same issue. This should be recalled and fixed.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated the fuel level indicator would read inaccurate gasoline levels when the fuel tank was less than one-fourth full. In addition, the indicator would intermittently become stuck on empty. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnosis of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 50,100.
The check engine soon light came on after several incidents with the fuel gauge not registering properly. A po4630 code came up and a malfunctioning gas sensor was apparent at this time. Four times the fuel gage failed to register--then check engine soon came on. The failure has not been corrected yet because it just occurred but after seeing the outrageous cost and I cannot afford that--not at this time. A recall is necessary.
My check engine light came on back in January 2010. I had the code run at a local auto parts store. Code is p0463, definition: fuel level sensor circuit high input probable cause. 1. Open or short circuit condition 2. Poor electrical connection 3. Faulty fuel level sensor since the light has come on, I'm getting a faulty reading from my fuel gauge. It gives inaccurate readings and I'm now forced to use my odometer to prevent running out of fuel. I read online about a potential recall so I waited to have the repair done. I contacted my dealership and they said to expect a letter in the April and may timeframe. Nissan issued a recall for 2006 and 2008 Nissan Xterra's. I have a 2007 and I have the same problem as the other years included in the recall. I would like the 2007 to be included in the recall since it has the same issues.
Upon filling my 2007 Nissan x-terra (with 42000 miles) I noticed that my fuel gauge was not reading full. Soon after my service engine soon light came on. I called the dealer and was told that this sometimes happens and my needle would work itself back up and after a few trips my ses light would go off. I have since done a little research and come to find out that this is a widespread problem not only with x-terra but with other models as well. There is are multiple sites such as Nissan help. Com ,x-terra world. Com where people all over are have this same issue and asking for help. There is also a service bulletin reference number for this problem (ref #ntb07-069) so obviously someone has acknowledge its existence. I also have picture proof that Nissan has since fixed the problem in the modification of the replacement part changing the original part because the fuel gauge is not working properly my concern is that should I run out of gas in the middle of traffic or at a traffic stop not only could there be an accident but possible if not probable loss of life. Also, in California we are required to smog are vehicles every 2 years and with my ses light on this will be impossible without extremely expensive repairs and as a single parent would leave me financially bound. My warranty of course has just expired at 36,000 miles however the problem still exists and existed before the expiration of the warranty. I am also in the midst of writing the national board of consumer affairs as well as Nissan customer affairs and my congressman ken calvert.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was broken. The check engine light remained illuminated continuously and when the fuel tank was full it would register different levels. The vehicle shut off because there was no gasoline in the fuel tank on occasion. Nissan was contacted and stated that there was a recall for model year 2005 and 2008, but not the 2007 and the repairs would be at his expense. The dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 80,000. The mileage was 90,000.
