1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

Exact same issue as on NHTSA campaign # 10v075000 is applicable to my 2007 Nissan Xterra as well. Nissan must recall the part on 2007 Xterras as well. This is a widely reported issue by other customers on the internet as well.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2019

Fuel sensor.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2019

When I fill my 2007 nisan Xterra SUV with gas the gas register on the instrument panel will not show full until I have driven it approximately 30 miles and then it will register full. The check engine light will also come on when I go to fill it up.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2018

Aprox. Three years ago, I reported a problem with the fuel gauge not giving true readings. After taking the car to be tested, I was advised that the sending unit was faulty, and the mechanic believed that there was a recall on the matter (he had heard of many people having the same problem). After doing online research, I came across hundreds, if not thousands of Xterra owners reporting the same problem. I called Nissan, and I was advised that there were no recalls on this matter. That does not make sense, for it seems obvious, based on my research, that this--among other common problems (such as the airbag light coming on)--are very prevalent, and seem to be due to a manufacturing/design problem.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2017

I kelp vehicle regularly mantianced shut it off one evening next morning it would start when finally started it wouldn't pull in 1st gear. Took it to transmission shop and found out that a crack had accured and there was coolant mixed with transmission fluid . So 3 days after I pd it off on a 3 yr payment plan it broke down on me . Very hard to find d a placement and someone who will do work on it bc it's so commo.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2016

Leak from radiator to transmission.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

I brought this car in 2007 and have had electrical issues, and have maintained the car regularly. I was driving recently and only had 91k miles and the transmission just suddenly went without warning.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

For over a year we have had a check engine light on with code p0463, the fuel sender unit needs replaced. Our gas gauge never reads correctly and has said we have had gas when we do not. Sometimes it also reads empty right after I fill it up. After more research this is a highly common and expensive issue for Xterra owners. I believe that a recall should be issued for customers with this vey common problem.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2016

Transmission appears to have coolant mixed into it. Also the fuel send unit has failed.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2016

Transmission failure: while driving car began to sputter like engine or drive shaft was stuck, speed and power decreased rapidly in traffic nearly causing me to crash vehicle looking for a way to get out of driving lane. I pulled in a parking lot turned vehicle off, to inspect tires, engine and transmission fluid. Checking fluids noticed transmission fluid thick like a milk shake, checked coolant, it too was the same. All this out of no where. I googled problem and found many with same issue and that car wouldnt start also due to wet electrical parts in transmission that pops a breaker not allowing restart. I check 10 amp fuse, it was broken. Got car towed to near family home, began researching and find out that Nissan was aware of trans cooler problem that will cause transmission failure. Also, that this issue most likely happens after 100,000 miles, which I also found out Nissan only covered this under an extended warranty with CO-pay to that amount, which I never was notified of this issue. My car was financed with a major us bank, same emails since purchase. I went to dealer, called nissn north America and was quickly dimissed with my vehicle has to many miles and campaign is over and wont speak futher due to some lawsuit. Really?? I live in illinois where its cold, what happens when you break down in the middle of no where? this should not happen to a car like this, me being the only owner and just had Nissan inspect my vehicle due to engine light being on previously. This is a dangerous thing. Thousands of people been affected. Dealer quoted me $4900 for repairs and stated this was a common issue. They should be responsible and pay for total repairs regardless of miles. What happens while traveling at highway speed and thebtransmission stops? I'm a commercial driver, seen many accudents. This could have been fatal. Recall this please, their liable.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

Fuel level malfunction causing false reading of fuel in the vehicle.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2015

My coolant system has leaked into my transmission system causing malfunction of both. This causes my car to hesitate when accelerating and will eventually cause the transmission to give out completely while in motion. This appears to be a common problem that Nissan is aware of and has not adequately addressed.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2015

Gauge said I had gas ran out in bumper to bumper 75-80 mile an hour traffic narrowly missed being crushed by semi tractor trailer.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

It has same problems as all the 02-08 Xterras but you wont issue recalls on fuel sensor, radiator leaking into tranny, air bag sensors, control arm. Thanks for letting loyal Nissan owners down!!!!.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

This is one of the many transmission issues with 2007 Xterras where the coolant leaks into the transmission and destroys it. The repair cost is 8500 dollars if the 100000 mile extended warranty has been passed. I contacted Nissan and they told me that this is my responsibility despite the hundred of complaints regarding the exact same issue. When driving at any speed, when the Xterra changes gears there is a rough vibration that keeps getting worse the longer it goes for. Had I not learned about this on my own accord this could have resulted in a very bad accident.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2014

Transmission failure in my 07 Nissan Xterra. A complete loss of motive power and needed to be towed. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a failed transmission fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid, resulting in damaged internal transmission components and a damaged internal transmission computer. Was told that this is a huge problem with these vehicles and the Nissan corporation is well aware of this problem.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2013

My radiator went out in the starbucks drive-thru. I had it towed to a shop & was told it is a known design flaw by Nissan where the fluids are mixing & the only thing I can do now is replace the radiator & "hope" the fluids did not go into the transmission. Got the new radiator & had a trans flush 3 times & paid about $1800. It is now a month later & my service engine light is on. Today, I am told I need a new transmission which will cost $3800. This is our only car. We do not have the funds to pay for a new transmission. For safety reasons, we urge you to please issue a recall on this poor design by Nissan where the fluids are mixing & causing safety concerns to the consumers.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

Fuel level sensor was malfunctioning on my Xterra, seems to be an ongoing thing with Xterras since people keep posting about it. . Read more...

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

Fuel sending unit failure. Appears thousands of other consumers have been having same part fail in their Xterra's.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2013

Check engine light is on. Took car to dealer and they came up with code p0463 regarding the fuel sending unit. Needed a new fuel sending unit & gauge assembly installed for about $430. 00. Nissan had issued a warrenty notification regarding this, extending the warrenty to 72 months (6 yrs) / 72,000 miles. We were beyond the revised warrenty period so we had to pay for the repair. Nissan should be made to issue a recall and pay for the fix. To the NHTSA!! please investigate and require Nissan to do the right thing!.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

After filling the SUV up with gas, the gauge moves to empty for a while then slowly moves up after 40-45 minutes of driving.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that after refueling, the low fuel warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Experienced intermittent fuel gage operation and inaccurate fuel level reading with check engine light on. Diagnosed as p0463 ecm error code (fuel level sensor). Nissan has confirmed the error code and refuses to repair/replace the fuel sending unit because vehicle is out of warranty despite previous recalls on other year models for the same issue.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2012

I've noticed that Nissan has been under investigation for receiving a number of complaints from consumers in regards to sudden, catastrophic transmission failures in 2005-2010 Nissan pathfinder, frontier and Xterra's. Well I am writing to tell you that my 2007 Nissan Xterra has fallen victim to this. It has been diagnosed with the problem of the transmission fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid, resulting in damaged internal transmission components and a damaged internal transmission computer. I had no warning signs leading up to or just prior to the failures. What is Nissan going to do about this???? recall ??.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2012

At around 75000 miles my fuel sending unit failed on my 2007 Nissan Xterra. This is a very common issue with this vehicle and has been documented by Nissan in ntb07-069b. This condition causes the vehicle to show improper fuel levels and throws the following check engine code. By not knowing exactly when this vehicle will be out of fuel it can be an unsafe condition for my wife and granddaughter to ride long distances in this vehicle.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I own a 2007 Nissan Xterra with a faulty fuel senor service bulletin #ntb-07-069c. Called Nissan several times and the corporate office called today 11/14/2012 and refused to repair warranty part. It is a known issue and they just flat out refused to fix a sensor they admit is faulty. I feel helpless against this giant corporation. Thanks you any help you could provide.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated after refueling the vehicle the check engine and low gas indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the fuel sending unit had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure and current mileages were 82,000. Mh.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2012

While driving, the fuel level indicated it was empty and the check engine light went on. This became an issue weekly from that point on. The problem would go away, and then come back on. There is no way to tell the fuel level in the vehicle during this. Nissan issued a warranty extension for this known problem, but not a recall. This should definitely be a recall situation. They know it is bad, and it is a very expensive fix. Nissan confirmed ton 10/3/2012 at regal Nissan in roswell, that the problem is the fuel level sending unit. They need to replace it with updated parts.

29 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

My check engine light came then my fuel gage went to e then back to half full I stop to put gas in then went to full for about 2 miles then to e now its on e and light is on all the time. Plus check engine light is on all the time. Had my friend check to truck connected to gage to it and it read error for fuel sensor error. I called Nissan consumer affairs they said even through there it a recall for certain Xterras not mine even through the same semptions are reported on recalled trucks at Nissan.

30 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

Nissan Xterra 2007. P0463 service engine soon warning display started on the dash and inaccurate fuel reading. Only 39,800 original mileage on speedometer.

31 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2010

Have experienced this failure on my current 2007 Xterra im at 53000 miles and they refuse to repair it. Warranty on this item is 36000 miles. They even tried to bs me when I said there is even a service bulletin out for this commmon repair. This is how it went: me - is there a current recall or service bulletin for a fuel sending unit failure or dtc p0461/2/3 dealer - let me check sir. Me - thanks dealer - no sir me - I find that hard to belive because I have it in my hand it is Nissan service bulletin ntb07-069b dealer - I do not have that information on me me - service bulletins are created for common repairs so I know im not that only one with this problem.

32 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2010

I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra truck. Check engine light stays on and fuel shows empty. Researched this and there seems to be alot of others with the same defect. Could run out of gas in the middle of driving and have an accident. Fuel level sending unit, p0463 diagnostic code. There should be a recall by Nissan.

33 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2010

Error code p0463 on Nissan vehicles (mine happens to be a 2007 Nissan Xterra) anyway, I am seeing on many forums that this issue is a known issue and is quite common and to complain here in order to encourage Nissan to issue a recall.

34 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

P0463 fuel level sensor circuit high input.

35 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2010

I discovered I have a faulty gas gauge on my 2007 Nissan Xterra two to three months ago. The gauge does not correctly show the remaining amount of fuel. Every time I fill up the gauge either "sticks" where it was at when I filled up, or it will bottom out and the fuel light will come on. I find it necessary to keep track of mileage using my odometer rather than risk trusting a faulty gauge. Nissan has recently issued a recall for this issue but has only recalled six months worth of Xterra vehicles, even though there is proof that this is a widely occurring problem as witnessed by the number of complaints online from consumers. The production date on my Xterra was Nov. 2006, right in between the two three-month recalls issued by Nissan. I am writing to bring this "bookend"-type recall philosophy to your attention. Solving a problem goes beyond issuing recalls. Companies such as Nissan are too focused on limiting the numbers of vehicles recalled rather than keeping customers safe by including all impacted vehicles. I believe such companies should be held accountable for such widespread safety issues.
