Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the fuel gauge did not indicate the correct level of fuel in the vehicle. The contact stated that when the fuel tank was filled up, the gauge registered "empty". There was no warning. The contact called the south colorado springs Nissan dealer (719-493-9586, located at 1333 south academy blvd. , colorado springs, CO 80916) and was told that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not in the recall (NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline) because the vehicle was purchased from a broker, not the dealer. The contact also stated that the manufacturer told her that there was an extended warranty, however, the contact did not receive the warranty. The contact was told by the representative that Nissan does not makes mistakes with recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Fe.
A couple of months back I reported this fuel level problem I believe in July, my wife was driving this Xterra 2007 (we have two a 2005 and this 2007) she driving in the center lane on the I-30 interstate when the Xterra just cut out, looking at the dash she said it has fuel about a 1/4 tank , she said she just made it to the shoulder of the safety lane when stopped. I went to her aide to find the check engine lite on and it wouldnt start, I took a two foot piece of two by four and wrapped the tank and it sounded like it was empty and whats funny the gauge inside now reads empty. . Got her gas and I drove it home. I report this to you guys and never heard a word back about this. In fact the complaint doesy show up in your listing explain that! I'im a mechanical engineer and done my fair share of failure analysis in my career and whats going on with this Xterra is a heat related condition. 1. The pump is spring loaded to be able to keep contact with the tank to pickup fuel. 2. The tank being made of poly material plastic expands causing the the pump to jack screw in he direction of the spring which rotates the sending unit pick arm to lodge it self against the the tank embossment and not allowing the arm to come to rest at the bottom of the tank. I found out this confirm the problem with a recall notice for 2006 and 2008 bnut why not the 2007 its same dam confguration ,same parts ,same tank, ,07,08 part number17202-9bm2a, sender 25060-zz00a, pump is the same 17040-zs00a, so why wasnt the 2007 included in the recall a typing error :summary 10v75500 reads":Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 " should have read models 2006,2007 and model year 2008. How could you guys miss this? dont you ever do a check on "where used" with xxxx models? if a part is used by the same type of unit it will also have the same failure occure .
I filled up my gas tank and it did not register to full it stayed on empty and the gas light came on and the service engine light. I looked this up and seen that there has been a recall on this exact problem for this make year and model with the fuel sendor.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the fuel tank meter read empty when they filled the tank. This happened with no warning and the fuel tank meter stayed on empty. The check engine warning light illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,761. Jw.
The fuel gauge goes to empty even when the tank is at least half full; it does same when vehicle is standing idle for a short while too. Airbag dash warning light flashing. There are recalls for both these issues, but Nissan claims my VIN is not included. The date assigned to the "when did this happen" is an approximation.
The fuel gauge is functioning improperly sending inaccurate readings. With a full tank of gas the gauge sometimes reads empty and sometimes reads quarter tank full. Often accompanied by a "service engine soon" light. The problem can occur at any time in motion or after refueling.
Transmission fluid in radiator in 2016, had to rebuild radiator. 2018 gas gauge fuel sensor not reading accurately. Only registers 1/4 tank even when filled.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that while his wife was driving about 70 mph, the vehicle ran out of fuel, however, the fuel gauge showed that there was a quarter tank of fuel. There was no warning. The vehicle was towed the contact's residence. The contact put in some fuel and was able to drive the vehicle. The contact visited the mclarty Nissan of benton dealer, located at 19960 I-30, benton, ar 72019 and was told that there was a recall (NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). I searched the VIN and advised that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000. Fe.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, the gauge would fail to register the proper fuel levels. The contact mentioned that due to the failure, the vehicle shut off due to no fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel sensor and the flow in the fuel tank was not functioning correctly and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated the vehicle failed the state inspection due to an issue with the flow gauge. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 89,000. The VIN was not available.
Fuel gauge has been or radically dropping to empty when fuel tank is more than half full. Service engine light came on with code 0463. Fuel lever sensor high output. This is a common issue with this make and model and not part of any current recall.
Nissan Xterra 2007 fuel tank quantity sensor is misreading quantity of fuel in tank causing the quantity to show empty when full and showing 1/2 full when empty. This cause "check engine light" to illuminate, which causes immediate failure at vehicle inspection site. That in turn causes the vehicle to not be registratable.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. While driving at an unknown speed, the fuel gauge improperly displayed that the fuel tank had over 1/4 of fuel although the tank was nearly empty. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel sending unit failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system). The failure mileage was 80,500.
The fuel gauge in our Xterra does not read accurately. We were told it needs a fuel sensor. Even when the tank is full we have to track the number of miles traveled because the gauge floats or reads "empty. " I have read over 30 similar complaints just on this site. An investigation should be launched since this was a problem for vehicles up to 2006 as well. Obviously it wasn't fixed for 2007.
Went to the gas station to fill up and the gas hand stayed at the same position. When starting the ignition the fuel gauge dropped below e. When restarting the car the next day, the fuel gauge said I had 1/4 tank. The vehicle stayed at 1/4 tank and changed back and forth to below e. The car then ran out of gas in the middle of the road.
We were driving on the interstate and the check engine light came on and the fuel gauge dropped to empty. We stopped to get gas and the tank was only half empty. We had the mechanic check the car when we got home. He said it was a fuel sensor problem that was common in Xterras. We have not fixed it yet. We are concerned that we'll run out of gas on the road, especially on longer trips when you can't keep the tank mostly full. We are also concerned that our check engine light won't reveal other problems to us. I don't know why there isn't a recall for this issue.
Fuel gauge is giving an erroneous reading. Problem started at around July 2014 with mileage at around 75,000 but corrected itself then it happened again few months after with the service engine light on and has been on since. Empty light is on even though there's gas in tank or it will read full even though there's less than full in tank. Either way it is erratic & not giving you the correct reading. Apparently this is a known issue with Nissan and a recall in a form of a warranty extension specific to that part and problem has been sent out and of course it happens to my car after the warranty has expired. It's Aug 2015 and mileage is now at 82,650 and way past the warranty even with the extended one that they had put out. Contacted Nissan consume affairs but was just told they couldn't help and to file complaint with NHTSA and/or bbb which I am doing and hoping this would be attended to as repairs are too costly for something that is a known defect with these vehicles.
Apparently, this is happening to large number of Nissan vehicles. It started with my gas meter getting stuck on a quarter of tank. And twice I ran out of gas, thinking I still had some gas left in tank. Now my empty tank light cuts on usually after I get around a half of tank. When I fill up it may take 2 or 3 trips before the sensor gets off of reading no gas. My check engine light is on as well. Very frustrating not knowing how much is in tank, especially on long trips. Frustrating as well, having to put gas in Xterra every 2-3 days not knowing how much is actually in tank.
My fuel gauge registered only 1/2 of the last quarter so I completely filled up. When I started the car up the fuel gauge now read totally empty, with the yellow empty light on. I knew it was full so I reset the odometer to track mileage to estimate fuel content. After about two driving cycles the gauge eventually made it to the full mark and seemed to come down normally. This has happened now three more times. I understand there has been a recall, but my vehicle is outside the time (sept 2013) and distance (72000) miles allowed for the recall. It's now may 2014, with 76000 miles. The dealer, and the Nissan 800 number just blew me off as being outside the recall warranty limits. One of the times the gauge hung up at the last quarter tank, you could run out of fuel in traffic or an intersection. I feel it's serious enough to rate as a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the service engine warning light illuminated in addition to the fuel lev el gauge inaccurately indicating that the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,200.
Fuel gauge sensor is not working - shows on empty even at full tank. Check engine light permanently on due to this issue.
I filled up my gas tank and when I left the gas station and started driving home the "service engine soon" light came on. The gas gauge did not read as a full tank either and I also full my tank up every time I get gas. I also reset to odometer so I know how many miles I get with each tank of gas. I took my Nissan Xterra 2007 to have them read the code to me and it came back "p0463". This is the fuel sender unit sensor. Apparently, this problem seems to be an long ongoing issue with Nissan. It should be a recall defect but it is not. The sensor part goes bad and they want the customer to pay out $600. To fix the problem. This is s problem that needs to be fixed by the dealership!.
I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra. At about 61000 miles I filled the gas tank. When I started my car I noticed the fuel gauge was still sitting on empty. Soon thereafter the "service engine soon" message appeared on my dash instruments and has not gone off since. I notice there have already been about 156 of the very same problems reported with many of the people running out of gas because of this. There should be a recall for this item.
1/4 tank of gas in car service engine light came on went to gas station on filled up and the fuel gauge would not read. After 2 day gauge for fuel level worked and ses light went off 2 days later ses light back on and fuel gauge not working went and had tested said that this is a common problem and has been recalled on other years but for what ever reason Nissan did not recall this year. Company need to recall and fix this issue.
Gas in car was at a 1/4 tank and service engine light came on went and filled tank up and gas gauge not working after driving the car twice the light went off and the gauge was working 3 days latter same issue. I do see where there was a recall for the 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 Xterra for the same issue but they failed to recall the 2007 year for the same issue. This should be recalled and fixed.
Gas gauge does not work and the ses light stays on. I did research that turned up that the 2006 and 2008 models are effected by a recall for the gas tank collapsing and crushing the level sensor. This is potentially the exact situation that I am seeing with the 2007 model and its hard to believe the design changed, then changed back to the faulty design over the three years with out the recall being issue until 3/22/11. This problem should be investigated.
Fuel sender sensor not working . . . Gas tank registers empty when full . . I have gotten stuck a few times . . Engine light on.
I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra that I just bought in sept. '10. It now has about 39,000 miles on it. I was a little under 1/4 a tank of gas the other day so I went and filled it up. When I restarted my vehicle, the gas gauge went right back to the position it was in before I filled up. I turned the vehicle off and then back on and it still read the same. Thinking my float was stuck or something, I just went on driving. After awhile, the gauge went to empty and the warning light came on. I went to put more gas in but it would only take about 2 gallons. Then the 'service engine soon light' came on and now it won't go off. The gas guage will sometimes go up to full (even if I've drove 100 miles on that tank) and sometimes it will go all the way to empty. It fluxuates up and down with no rhym or reason and it will do it in a matter of seconds. I have put sea breeze fuel cleaner stuff in the tank but so far it has not helped.
I own a 2007 Nissan Xterra it has 70,000 miles on it. The fuel level sending unit does not work properly. When I have 1/4, 1/2 tank of gas, sometimes 3/4 tank of gas the gauge drops to empty and the service engine lite comes on. I have read on line that his is an ongoing problem with the Xterra dating back to 2003. Should this not have been a recall by Nissan? should we wait until someone get killed before something is done.
The gas gauge no longer registers the accurate gasoline level in the tank and the service engine light comes on. There was a recall for 2006 and 2008 models but not for 2007. There have been numerous complaints on the web from other Nissan owners on this exact same issue.
My gas tank registered 1/4 of a tank, which meant another 50 miles. I live in the country and work 45 miles away. I set my trip meter but only made it 15 miles and was left stranded on the highway. . . Again. I did make it to the exit ramp. Had to wait an hour for help in a high crime area at 5:50 in the morning.
I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra that started to have problems with the fuel sending unit when is full shows empty and light comes on and after 50+ miles the gauge starts working till it gets to 1/4 tank aprox and stays there till get out of gas (happened to me, thank god was on a light and not on the hwy). Took it to the dealer and they told me that there was a recall on this issue and after an hour they came back to me and told me that my Xterra was not cover and they will fix it but there will be a charge of $500 aprox.
Fuel sensor failure. Always tells me my gas tank is empty when it is full. When on 1/4 of a tank, it will drop to "e", so I'm not sure how much gas I really have left. Check engine light always stays on. Once in a great while it will turn off, and when the gas gauge drops to "e", the check engine light comes back on. I have been stranded not knowing if I have fuel in the 2007 Xterra or not. Was told I did not have the year of Xterra for recall even though I'm having the problems all other Xterra's are recalling. I do not know if there is something really wrong with the Xterra or not since this light is on all the time.
Faulty fuel level sensor in my 2007 Nissan Xterra does not give an accurate reading of the fuel remaining in the car. I have run out of gas while driving at 40+ mph even though gas gauge indicated that there was 1/4 tank remaining. Nissan has issued a recall for some 2006 and 2008 Xterra's with the same problem but has refused to correct the issue in all Xterra's. I called Nissan consumer affairs and was told that I'd have to wait and see. I called the dealership and was advised to buy an extended warranty, drive the car for 30 days and then have it fixed "for free" and, when I indicated that the fuel level sensor prevents me from getting the car inspected, was advised to drive it illegally. I have been told that repairs cost between $600 - $800 and that depending on the conditions of the recall I may not get reimbursed for repairing a malfunction that Nissan has acknowledged exists in the Xterra. I would encourage you to pressure Nissan to extent the recall to all vehicles experiencing this issue as it seems they are trying to limit their cost.
I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The fuel gauge reads 1/4 of a tank even after fill up. I've done some research, it seems that this a very common problem with a lot of later model Nissans. My wife drives this car transporting our newborn baby to and from daycare, doctors appt. Etc. This needs to be resolved in the form of a recall by Nissan of north America. Thank you for any help you can give us.
