36 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/03/2010

I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra. The transmission had vibration intermittently. Transmission finally went out due to a faulty radiator. This vehicle is equipped with two coolers one air and one water cooled. I have read of many complaints for this. Nissan knows of the problem and should recall it. I bought this vehicle used from pat peck Nissan with a warranty. At 6mos I received a letter that the warranty was not valid on this vehicle and they reimbursed the cost of the warranty. I feel that they knew this was a problem.

37 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/04/2010

1. Vibrations coming from rear of car at 35 mph. Vibration get worst when accelerating to 40 mph, shifts hard, rpm's increase then decrease(jumps all over the place). Occurs all the time. Faulty lines between coolant system and transmission. Coolant mixed with tranny fluid. Replaced, radiator, flushed engine, flushed tranny 2 times. Installed external transmission cooler and bypassed radiator, so this wont happen again, my have to replace transmission in future because of the damage done to it by the coolant mixing with tranny fluid. Out of pocket expense $1463. 12 parts and labor at a local Nissan dealer. I was told that this is a common problem with Nissan 4x4 vehicles. This should be a recall. And if my transmission goes I feel that Nissan should replace it free of charge.

39 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 01/12/2010

I bought a new Nissan Xterra from sloane Nissan in 2006, after 70+ miles, the car vibrates at around 40mph while shifting automatic gear (I did not know why it was vibrating). Finally aft 80+ miles, I took it to the dealer to only find out that the radiator blew the transmission. That is a shame, I just finished paying for the car and now I have to spend more money to fix it. It seems to be a very common problem with Nissan Xterra, pathfinder & frontier. The radiator is junk and needs to be recalled.

40 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2000 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/12/2009

Coolant is leaking at the head gasket on my single owner 2000 Nissan Xterra xe v6 4wd. I had this checked by 3 different certified technicians and they all pointed out the same issue. The car has only 65k miles on it. The cost of repairing this is more than $1200. Seems like lot of Nissans has similar issue, yet no recalls on this problem. I have owned cars that had more than $100k miles and never had to replace the head gasket. Currently, a temporary seal is put in place, yet, I see few drops of coolant on the garage floor.

Internal radiator failure that led to a transmission failure in the middle of the highway. Failure Date: 04/08/2009

I own a 2003 Nissan Xterra 4wd. It has 55,000 miles and only been serviced at Nissan dealership. I noticed a sweet smell coming from the engine when the car was warm so when I took in for oil change asked them to check it out. Told me the heads were warped and needed to be ground down, new gasket, belts and sparkplugs d/t the head leaking. This is the second head gasket problem I've had with a Nissan I've owned. The other one was under warranty and was told it was a freak thing. I believed them, and had no problem buying another Nissan. Now same problem and I have to pay $2,250. 00 for replacement. No one can tell me why. I contacted Nissan corp for reimbursement on this. Im still waiting for a reply, but after searching the net I see that this is a familiar problem with Nissan. I will not be buying another Nissan product.
