2oo2 olds Alero, present mileage@5/17/20-187,037. Where do I start? okay, the trunk has started to arbitrarily decide to pop open. . . Apparently during rain/thunderstorms. . . I wonder if this has anything to do with the door locks recently deciding to not lock the passenger side when using switch on dr,side door. . . And now since the trunk's been popping open for the last 3wks,the key fob won't open the trunk, and the button on interior door to the trunk won't work either, unless the car is running(and not all the time then, either) interior door locks won't respond to the interior switch anymore. . What a pain in the a**. . . . I'm keeping a bungee cord over the spoiler to the bumper to keep the trunk closed. Fyi~I keep the car on a trickle charge to the battery24/7 ,since I avoid driving the thing-the passlock bs seems to cause the battery to drain since it has to sit with the key on. Also carry a noco charger at all times in case I need a jump. . The rust is unbelievable. Rear fenders are all but crumbled off. Have to fix dr,side window now~had to fix pass. Side 2yrs ago. Regulator afu, probably need new switch, window went off the track, getting good at taping them up discreetly. The aluminium rims cause slow leaks in tires, buy yourself an inflator. . Massive power steering leak now, brake lines replaced twice. . They're under the car exposed to where they get to rust away constantly~I live in north west ohio where it snows&rains alot,so I'm hosed. Once I mastered the passlock 2step I thought that it couldn't get any worse~but in reading all the other complaints& starting to have what may be a bcm issue,I'm not driving this thing if I don't have to! I paid my aaa dues and full coverage insurance. . Oh,yeah-had that"recall" a few yrs ago and all they did was monkey around with the keys, not the ignition! I've been told a 100 times I'll need a new ignition~anybody out there have $700???.

I am the owner of a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, for the past year I've been having a lot of problems with my vehicle it's been shutting off while I was driving. Also my battery light stays on, and assuming that my battery or alternator needs to be replaced. I replaced the parts with new ones and still doing the same thing, the battery light is still on. Now my car does not turn on at all it's dead!!!!.

2001 Oldsmobile Alero ignition switch. The consumer stated the ignition switch was replaced in November 2010, due to the vehicle stalling when placed in reverse. Also, none of the gauges and dash lights worked, the fuel pressure regulator and head gasket were replaced.
2004 Oldsmobile Alero ongoing problems with turn signals and hazards inoperable most of the time. Most electrical components fail at times. Window regulator failed. Rear door locks have to play with remote locks before door opens acts as though child safety locks are on can not open door from in or out. Eventually after pushing on remote lock it opens. Brakes always grinding even after replacements. Engine has also, ticked not knock just ticking since I've purchased the car. Many times the car does not start first try after second it starts but all electrical has to reset example radio, clock ect.

My car won't start due to the security light coming on. I had my car towed into a dealership. They stated no start just crank theft light came on. They inspect and found code b2960, replaced pass lock cylinder and recode and program. This should be a recall issue, there to many complaints with this car. There was a recall regarding in fuel pressure regulators and this is similar to that fuel being cut off from the engine. And it says that when these cars reach 102,000 miles this is what happens it either won't start due to security or when you shift it locks and security lights come on. Samething. Please look into this matter it cost me $580. 00 to repair this. And they new it would happen when you reach the 102,000 mile point.
Service vehicle soon, trac off light, and abs light took to dealer, out of warranty, private repair shop, cost-$500, grinding noise before lights turned on, dinging, lights went on, it was sensor in left front wheel bearing. Also have replaced front rotors, alternator at 65,000 miles. Key fob doesn''t lock drivers door. Hood on car replaced in 2006 under warranty because of blistering 2002-water leak onto drivers floor, 5 times to dealer, replaced side door gasket, problem had to be solved by replacing windshield gasket. I'm afraid of all these complaints about turn signal failure and hazard light failure and the car just quitting. Trading in this piece of **** as soon as paid off.
2001 Alero (2 dr. Coupe) I have been on several sites and am finding many Alero owners having the same problems that I have encountered over the last couple of years. Fuel pump, wheel hub assemblies, intake manifold gaskets, power window failure(grinding/breaking clips/regulators), serv engine and traction control lights constantly on, electrical problems, brake problems etc. It is my belief that olds knew they weren't making this car anymore, and sent a sub-par product out into the market "hoping" to get away with as few recalls as possible. I have numerous complaints filed with olds and general motors. General motors has gone way out and offered me a $500. 00 certificate towards the purchase of a new vehicle. Give me one reason I should go through another nightmare like this one. Recalls have never been issued on any of these complaints because it would probably cost millions of dollars for them to fix the problems. I constantly wait to see if any class action suits involving these vehicles occurs as I will be one of the first to jump in. What's the saying. . . "if it looks like dog crap and smells like dog crap don't step in it, it's probably dog crap". There's a defined problem with these vehicles and gm should be taking responsibility for them.
Rear defroster, steering, brakes (3x's), engine, radiator, belt, security systerm, tape deck, power windows.

Left school went to the bank, came out smoke was coming from under hood by front passenger tire. I cracked the hood and smoke increased. I could smell something burning, I put the hood back down and asked the bank teller to call 911. Fire department came and opened hood, alternator was burned out entirely and there had been no warning signs at any time. Had to leave vehicle, will have to replace alternator, and pay for towing. Advised by the fire department not to turn the ignition for any reason because the alternator will ignite, until replaced.
The tires were defective. The tire pressure will not sustain. The tire pressure light stays on, and the consumer had to add air daily. The dealer refused to cooperate. The left front door body side was falling, the solder joints in the hazard warning flasher switch may crack, the coolant light had come on, there was an erratic sound when the ignition was first turned on, the driver window had a water leak, the left power window won't seal, the regulator was broken, and the key would get stuck in the ignition intermittently due to binding cylinder lock. Sc.
Oldsmobile Alero 1999 the vehicle experienced brake and rotor problems. The alternator failed. The driver's side window regulator failed. The front coils spring failed. The oxygen sensor was replaced. Left front abs sensor and hub assembly were replaced.
Problem with brakes, had to have new front brakes and front rotors put on car, still have dragging problem underneath car. Now car having problems in starting and low tire pressure lights comes on even when tire pressure has been checked and corrected.
Unidentifiable problem. Something is drawing power from my alternator causing a drop in the energy feed to the alternator. This makes the low battery light come on during long trips.

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. The car has been a continuous problem since I drove it off the lot. The suspension has failed, the fuel injector and alternator have been replaced, the electrical system malfunctions all the time, and problems continue to develop on an almost monthly basis. I contacted Oldsmobile and they could care less, referring me to the "dealer" who has been repairing this vehicle repeatedly. I see why Oldsmobile is going out of business. They're products are inferior, and border on dangerous. I'm just hoping this car does not malfunction seriously while I'm on the highway. The incident date below is the approximate most recent repair date. The dates of various incidents are too numerous to list.
I filed a complaint before odi number is 754110, and I wanted to add the latest to this complaint but couldn't seem to find it. However this vehicle is still having major problems now the passenger window fell like the drivers side did, the tires had had to be replaced again, after I took it in the a dealship for a recall notice, they repair whatever needed to be repair now the blinkers make a fast clicking sound and the light inside blinks really really fast while using signal. Yesterday the car wouldn't stay started , the engine hestiated to start or didn't start at all. Damn I'm so tired of this so I just stopped paying on this vehicle they can come get it as far as I'm concerned. I work hard to end up having someone sell me a lemon. This is terrible. Do you have any ideas on what I can do?.
The vehicle dies. While cruising at any speed, the hydraulic brakes & steering failed due to the engine dying. There is no set pattern, it might stall 6 times in one day, then twice the next day. Then go 4 days with no ocurrence, then it will stall once a day for 3 days. Then go a week with no ocurrence, then stall 4 times a day for 5 days, etc. , etc. In every ocurrence, it takes approximately 10 minutes before it will start back up. At high speeds, it is extremely too dangerous to drive. We've taken it to the dealer, under extended warranty, the required 4 times under the lemon law process. The dealer cannot ascertain, nor fix the problem. It happened to the dealer at least once when we took it in. I doubt they will admit it, however, my wife was witness. The car is a 2003. Even though I bought it in July 2003, it was considered a used car. Gm has denied our claim since the lemon law does not apply to used cars. The car has been permanently parked since November 2003. We were forced to buy another car. The dealer would not trade. This has resulted in a badluck situation for us. We cannot afford 2 car payments / 2 insurance premiums, nor can we afford $300. 00 per hour to sue gm. I stopped making payments in December 2003. I have kept the finance company abreast of the situation. They have not repossed as of yet. They want me to try to sell it. Can you help ?.
My 1999 Oldsmobile Alero has had a major problem with 1. Manifold gaskets leaking. 2. All of the windows failing by falling off the tracks or the regulator itself failing. Three times for the drivers side window! 3. The turn signals have stopped working correctly, clicking constantly. 4. The gas gauge stopped working 5. The interior leather curled up on the dash, which I notice on many other Alero's I've seen.
Alternator failed, consumer was told this was normal because alternator was located above engine. Brakes make noise due to rotor and pad failure. Air pressure light comes on due to front tire air leak.
Consumer stated the abs rotors were making a grinding noise although rotors and the pads were still new, dealer replaced rotors and pads, but vehicle was still making the grinding noise. Also the alternator went out, wheels and tires were replaced due to the air pressure light illuminating, a front wheel alignment was performed, battery light and abs light was coming on.
Consumer states that the battery and alternator were replaced in 2000.
