The contact owns a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While backing out of the driveway, several lights illuminated on the instrument panel, including the antilock brake and traction control lights. Currently, the lights remain illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealer and they stated that the hydraulic unit failed. The contact researched recalls on her vehicle and discovered that she was experiencing the same failures described in NHTSA campaign id number 00v114000 (service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components). The dealer stated that her VIN was excluded from the recall and she would be responsible for the repair costs. The vehicle has not been repaired. The speed was unknown. Consumer states has had several steering malfunctions while driving. The steering wheel vibrates excessively and a "knocking" noise is heard from the steering column. When the brakes are applied they vibrate also. Consumer also states that intermittenly while driving the vehicle will skid w/o warning and experience loss of steering control. Vehicle checked by dlr who replaced steering shaft on 11/27/01. The problem reoccured. Nlm.

When first backing away, consumer states brakes drag and rub, consumer was informed that is normal brake noise.

Brakes were repaired at 10k 18k 22k 32k and 54k olds will not admit there is a problem.
After starting vehicle then reversing could hear noise coming from front end, brakes had gone out and had to be replaced. Air conditioner had blownout hot air instead of cool air. Had to be repaired.
While driving on rough surface roads and making turns the vehicle's steering rack makes noise and brakes fail intermittently.
While driving out of the driveway consumer proceeds to step on the brakes to stop the car, there is no brake pressure. Consumer has to step on the brake really hard for the vehicle to stop.
As the consumer moves his car down his drive he depressed the brake pedal but there was no brake pressure and the pedal sinks to the floor.
