Failure Date: 08/05/2005

Consumer states that 1999 Plymouth Breeze caught on fire and burned completely. Consumers parked the car and turned off the engine, and 5 minutes later consumer was notified that vehicle was on fire. The fire started under the hood around the engine compartment. The battery was severely burned and it looked like the fire may have started there. A week earlier NHTSA recall 04v021000 repairs were done. The fire department came and extinguished the fire. Fire and police reports were issued.

2 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2000 Plymouth Breeze

Failure Date: 06/01/2005

Automatic transmission lever can be moved without keys in ignation. Has moved from park to reverse while sitting at idle.

3 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 1996 Plymouth Breeze

Failure Date: 03/01/2005

Problems getting repair work completed on 1996 Plymouth Breeze. When the consumer returned to pick up his vehicle, he was told no work had been performed because there was a special part that needed to ordered. The dealer still has not contacted the consumer. 4 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 1998 Plymouth Breeze

Failure Date: 11/01/2004

Two weeks after recall repairs were performed for the floor shift ignition the part failed again. As a result, the consumer was unable to release the key from the vehicle.

The consumer had a hard time finding out whether or not her vehicle was included in the park interlock recall. After numerous attempts to see if the consumers vehicle was recalled, the vehicle was finally repaired.

While parked on a slight incline with no keys in the ignition, the gear shift of the floor console was able to be moved. The vehicle rolled and hit a house. 9 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 1999 Plymouth Breeze

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

1999 Plymouth Breeze high pressure steering hose defect. The consumer believed the fire and the accidents that occurred, where due to a direct result of the two recalls that were issued. An inspector was sent to examine the vehicle and concluded the problems were not a result of the recalls.
