Vehicle was taken in for recall for ignition interlock, and was not repaired correctly. Told the service advisor the ignition interlock was inoperative. They installed the incorrect part, when according to the recall, if the interlock was inoperative, the shifter was to be replaced. They did not install the shifter, rather they installed the load limiting pushrod which did not remedy the failure of the interlock.

Vehicle was switched out of parked gear and rolled with consumer's 3 year old son in the driver's seat. Transferred to ovsc. There were no keys in the ignition. The vehicle rolled backwards across a street and hit a tree. The child was not injured. The consumer feels that the vehicle interlock system failed causing this accident.

Good evening, I wanted to obtain more information about the class action suit against Chrysler. I have a 97 Plymouth Breeze that has had a head and a transmission replaced at 2 separate times. The head was replaced because of head gasket and the transmission after if overheated on highway use (5, 2003), got stuck 200+ miles away from home. Finally I sent my last payment last month but to my surprise my transmission is acting up again and the only services I get from the shop is for my to drive to them (200 miles away). Other issues brakes do not last and suspension is on the fritz. . Thank you daniel rodriguez rbdaniel@bellsouth. Net miami, FL.
The key could be taken out of the ignition, when the gear shifter was in any position. The "ignition-park" interlock failed. Ref ie03013.
At 65mph and and with no warning transmission will kick out of gear and will go to 2nd gear. This could cause an accident. Cause unknown. Dealer notified.
I brought the car in 2000. I only had the car for a year and 5months and the transmission went out.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Alot of these problems seem to be persistent with the Plymouth,Dodge, and Chrysler. This should be dealt with and resolved to gratify the consumer. No safety defect listed.
Started car up, air conditioner on, backing up, put in drive and instead of drive being highlighted on the dash, all letters were highlighted and the car drove in the lowest gear possible, car dealer unable to find the problem. When care was turned off and restarted in was ok.
Ongoing problem with tie rod and ball joint failures. Dealer had replaced both tie rod and ball joint three times each, and problem appeared to be reoccurring. Dealership denied recall 97v201 stating that all parts were okay, the initial problem was an ongoing front end noise and vibration. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter. Vehicle also experiencing an oil leaking problem, the head gasket has been replaced 4 times. A chipped drive chain caused motor vibration.
Transmission module was replaced, headgasket was leaking oil, and was replaced as well. Head gasket was leaking due to cylinder head failure.
While driving on freeway at about 60mph, vehicle decelerated to 20 mph. Consumer felt it was a transmission problem. Also, engine check light came on.
We hav ehad numerous problems with our vehicle. We have had starters, transmission modules, fuel pumps, head gaskets, and a leak detection pump replaced so far. All Chrysler can say about this is that your out of luck. The dealership threatened to use force to beat me up (pat terhar teh gm at the dealership) all I want is Chrysler to take responsibility for the number of problems I have had, instead they keep changing me hundreds of dollars for repairs. My understanding is that there are numerous cars with similar problems as I have had. Please investigate. I am running out of steam. Thanks!)( dot number: ).
After an oil leak was detected, was told the engine head gasket/motor mount support, and transmission needed replacement.
Able to shift through gears while driving or parked without applying brake.
Purchased car in July taken back first of water leaking through floorboard and windows seals replaced and under dash sealed next incident was while traveling down ptsm blvd at 35- 40 mph attempting to slow down for stop light, car geared up I had two feet on the brakes and blowing my horn so the women in front of me would either move or get out of the way, popped car into neutral to attempt at getting motor or transmission to gear down , standing in seat just about car lurched forward, light changed and normal operation resumed parked car in parking lot and had towed in chyrsler damler notified by dealer and sent special investigator dick perkins down from dtroit who said he would be back in touch with us after he had the car looked over, that was last week. Picked up my caron wendsday dealership said they were to stay out of it but they believed there was nothing wrong. Took car home that day without any documentation that the car was safe they stated that wouldcome from detroit. Next day had to go out of town for school vechicle then according to dealeship blew a transmission hose, which still at this time was not replaced. They had to "order the parts" thought transmission hoses were available any where. The problem is I am afraid to drive this vechile at this point I don't know what is going to happen with it next or where I was very lucky each time. The first I could have seriously injured my self or someone else the second time I was lucky again to be in an area where people were to help get it off the road any suggestions would be appreciated thank you jmcollins.
After driving transmission didn't shift correctly. When accelerating from a low speed transmission doesn't find the right gear mainly in heavy traffic. Dealer contacted and cannot remedy the problem. Warranty exists. Problem still exists. Provide further information.
Gear sticks between park and reverse when shifting to park, causing vehicle to roll backwards. Dealer has acknowledged there is indeed a problem.
Transmission lockups in drive and reverse gears.
I'm so disappointed in this car. I bought it new in 1996, and it's been constant problems since I did. The first time the head gasket went out, the car was still under warranty, but has gone out twice since then. I've spent so much money on repairs, that I could have bought a whole new car if you add it all up. The brakes are always squeeking and wearing out quickly. Whenever one thing goes wrong, it's quickly followed by several other problems. My transmission had a massive leak last year (2001) that took the dealer two times to fix. But now it's leaking again. I went and bought a new kia two days ago--but I'm reluctant to try and sell this lemon to anybody. It has no trade in value whatsoever. Now that I'm aware of the major head gasket problems, I wonder if there's any sort of class action lawsuit against the makers of Plymouth? I want my money back!!!.
Gear also moves into third. This has happened so many times I can't count them. This happens because the shifter will show drive but really be inbetween gears. I have taken it back to the dealer many times. They say it is a part of the safety procedures that allow you to move from drive to neutral but not reverse without depressing the button. I am not the only driver of my car that this has occurred to. If it is a part of the "safety" mechanism, I contend that it is not safe. Please help me make sure Chrysler gets the message. No one else seems to want to do so. Thank you.
Transmission can be taken out of park without using the key. Can also shut the engine off and remove the key without placing the transmission in park. I reported this to the dealership where I purchased the car and they supposedly replaced a cable to the transmission but told me that this is suppose to be this way. I called the Chrysler customer center at 1-800-992-1997 and explained the problem and again was told that this car was manufactured this way and that this is the way it is suppose to be. To me this is a safety concern because anyone can get in my car and pull it out of park withuot using a key and sometimes when I get out of the car I remove the key while it is still in drive. Should I not have to place the gearshift in park before I remove the ignition key? and shouldn't I need to use the ignition key to take the gearshift out of park?.
Vehicle lunges/surges at idle. Acts like it doesn;t go out of gear. Must press firmly on brake to keep vehicle from lunging ahead. Very rough idle. Shakes steering wheel violently. Must place transmission in neutral at stop to control vehicle. When shifted to neutral engine races momentarily and then slows down. Vehicle is hard to control when stopped, performance unpredictible, unreliable and dangerous to other persons and vehicles.
