1 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 05/25/2012

Experienced hard brake pedal (lose of braking) and brake / abs lights illuminated on the dash board. This was the second failure in the last two years after approximately 14,000 miles of operation since the last repair and for at least the fourth time since we have owned this vehicle (bought new). Previous repair involved replacement of brake accumulator, dual pressure switch, brake actuator piston assembly, and the pump motor assembly, the last two of which are subject to a lifetime recall. Dealer refuses to repair/replace warranted parts without agreement that other parts are replaced at a cost of approximately $900. Given that it is likely that warranted part failures are leading to the failure of the other components and that the last repair only lasted for 14,000 mile we requested that Chrysler cover the entire repair. Chrysler refused. In addition, it has been our experience that each time we have had the brake system fail, it has included the need to replace other brake system components beyond the parts subject to the lifetime recall. Thus it would appear that the lifetime recall should have been expanded to cover all of the components impacted by the failure of the warranted components.
