Latent defect (casting void) present at delivery, discovered by independent mechanic at 45,209 miles on 03/08/2002 during routine service and inspection. No safety defect listed. There was an oil leak at the left rear corner of the head gasket and the gasket was replaced. The consumer believed the cylinder head was defective.

The consumer has experience the following: noise coming from the rear brakes, noise when starting the engine/uneven idle, the check engine light had come on/burned #5 exhaust valve-removed head/replaced valve/reassembled engine, the engine is knocking/internal rod knocking-engine had an oil leak/replaced gasket & the rear main seal is leaking (the vehicle is going thru 2-3 quarts per month), and when engaging in gear, the engine moves hard.
