Power Steering Light On problems of the 2007 Saturn ION - part 1

The power steering light keeps coming on and it is hard to steer and the key keeps getting stuck in the ignition. Car was stationary when the light turned on.

I was starting my car getting ready to go to church, and the steering wheel wouldn't turn, then my power steering light came on. I had my granddauther to call a mechanic and they said that it might be a electrical problem. My car was in a parking space where I live. I did get the chance to move the car. I can drive the car but I'm afraid that it will lock on me while driving it.

I was on my way home just getting off highway with speed limit of 65 mph, when I parked at local grocery store near my home. Parked in stall fine but about 10 minutes later I found upon attempting to drive out of the stall, I could hardly turn my car to make it out of the parking lot. I was able to slowly drive it home hoping it would correct itself then noticing powered steering light on dash. On arrival to my home I parked backwards in fear of getting stuck. I then tried numerous times to turn on and off the car with no change in steering or dashboard light. Fortunately this happened literally a mile off the highway which I could have easily gotten into a serious accident with much higher speeds and no control to drive the automobile.

Had a problem with gas line about a year ago took to dealership cause there was an extended warranty but was told mine wasn't covered even though it should of been cost me 900 dollars. Only recall I received was for ignition.

Powering sterring light on agaagain very hard to drive had to use flasers to get home from church this went onm Saturday and sundaty by moday it corrected itself however it icalled holman cadiilc were I get it serviced they never called me back wwith a straight answer on what they wamt me to do.

I turned right at a light and as soon as I began to pick up speed my sterring wheel locked and the power steering light indicator came on. I was unable to control my car. This was very frieghtening yet since I was not on the freeway yet I was able to merge over to the side of the road. I turned my car off and back on yet the steering warning light was still on and I could not move my car. I called the tow truck and after my car sat for about 30 minutes and I restated the vehicle the power steering light was off and my steering wheel was movable. Due to the dangerous nature of this event I am contacting gm because I am afraid to drive my car at a high speed with chance I would loose control of my car.

Was driving when my car dinged and I got a power steering light on my dash and my power steering failed. This has happened several times in the last few months.

I was driving home on Saturday night and I heard a chime noise and the power steering light appeared, I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off and turned it back on the light went off and didn't come back on. Well driving on the freeway this afternoon, I had to pull over 3 times to get the light to go off but the 3rd time it didn't go off. I was able to continue to drive my car. This is my only vehicle and I am a college student that really needs their vehicle. Could someone please assist me with this matter.

I have a problem with the power steering lights goes on and it is difficult to drive, the car has less than 60k miles and really bad that the manufacture doesn't take care of this malfunction. I need to know how to get it fix this problem because it seems that the problem came from the manufacturer.

I was driving on 95 north 12-15-2011 and the power strrng warning light came on and automatically my powersteering shut off completely to where I was unable to turn the wheel at all. I turned the car off and on and low and behold the wheel as fine. Thought everything was fine unti lthe next day 12-16-2011 I was driving on 95 north again and it did it a second time this time my two year old son was in the car with me (not safe at all) and it was rush hour luckily I was able to turn the car ff and on again and it worked so I could get home, this needs to be fixed and recalled as I have done my research and it seems that this is a major issue with this car.

2007 Saturn Ion 3 manual sedan 1. ) fuel pump delivery system recall and has been repaired after a serious fuel leak was detected. 2. )purge flow solenoid- engine light came on after the pump delivery system was detected but was not repaired because it was not included in recall. Car gets very little gas mileage because the fuel to oxygen ratio being off. Every time I go to the gas station I cannot get my car to start. It doesn't matter if I have half of a tank of gas or almost on empty. It takes several tries and only starts after I rev the engine because the fuel to oxygen ratio and the fuel pump floods my car as soon as the fuel pump is engaged. I know that after this happens so many times that it will cause the starter to burn up in my car. 3. ) ignition switch- cannot turn key on as if the steering wheel is locked/ cannot turn key off/ take key out and car is still running! disconnect battery to shut the car off. 4. ) electronic power steering- acts as if the power steering has a short. While driving with speeds as little as 15mph in a residential neighbor hood or 70mph on the interstate. The power steering light comes on and all power steering is lost and becomes almost impossible to drive. After shutting the car off and restarting the car the power steering works but shortly after it fails again. This happens every time I drive my car. The first time this happened I was on an exit ramp on the interstate with a very sharp curve. I could barely control the vehicle. Needless to say my children are no longer allowed to ride in this car until it is repaired.
