40 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/06/2016

Sporadically, water leaks from the ceiling air vents/rear view camera/ a-braces/ airbag covers and basically any other place water can come out of. I have had it to the GMC dealer 2x to look for the issue but they cannot replicate. In viewing information online (specifically edmonds. Com) it appears that this has been a well known problem since the auto was manufactured - I am just lucky that mine has been sporadic. It has not effected components of the vehicle yet, but if it keeps happening I have little doubt that there will be issues - parts corroding, electrical issues, etc. As mentioned earlier, it baffles me that there are 18 pages of identical complaints, yet the manufacturer has never been made to do anything about it - an idiot can tell that there has to be some manufacturer defect to have that # of occurences. I really don't expect anything to come of my issue, but wanted to document what has happened in case there are more serious issues later such as an accident caused by equipment failure due to water damage - it is only a matter of time before this defect causes serious harm to someone.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/05/2016

When I was entering moving traffic from a completely stopped position, a car was coming faster than I realized so I floored the accelerator and this is what happened: 1. All power to my car shut off and the car rolled forward slowing down. 2. All of the dashboard lights and symbols lit up. 3. My car jolted strongly once, sputtered (many times), and hiccupped (many times). The jolt was so strong that it threw me forward and made my seatbelt catch me. 4. At the same time as # 3, the gps rebooted itself 3 times in a row and all of the car door locks unlocked and locked themselves 3 times in a row. 5. I gently pressed the accelerator and the car accelerated but the car felt weak and I felt uncertain. I was not sure what would happen if I tried to accelerate normally so I put on my emergency blinkers and slowly drove home.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/27/2016

After a heavy storm rainwater leaked into the cabin of my parked and unoccupied vehicle through the factory installed sunroof, which was fully closed. The water also leaked into the cabin behind the glove box, under the dash, and through the headliner. This resulted in rainwater getting into the fuse box causing electrical corrosion and the rear wiper to malfunction. Besides the potential safety issue, an electrical malfunction while driving or fire, there is also a health issue of mold in the headliner and under the carpeting. As a result of the water getting inside the car the headliner is now permanently water stained and the carpeting was soaked. The dealership "blew out" the drain tubes but could not guarantee this would fix the problem. I was further advised of a GMC customer satisfaction recall on this car (08207a) which expired on 09/30/09 and that this repair was never done on my vehicle, based on a check of the VIN. I contacted Saturn directly on 04/04/16 who refused to pay for this customer satisfaction recall since it expired 7 years ago. I've gotten more water inside my car since my trip to the dealership and was advised that the approximate cost to extend the drain tubes, as recommended on the customer satisfaction recall, would be at least $500. 00. This price does not include replacing the headliner, the carpeting, possible mold removal, or repairing/replacing the fuse box. My main concerns are for the safety and well being of my small children while riding in this car.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/16/2016

Roof leaks and passenger side window and door locks do not work.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/06/2016

While driving in the rain, water comes in from the sunroof running thru the airbags and has shorted my speakers and played havoc with my electrical system in general. The radio/car wouldn't turn off which drained the battery (which I've replace three times in a three year span) after the key was removed. I've had the drainage tube replaced several times but it still happens. My driver's side carpet stays wet and now it has a mildew smell and I've had to replace the floor mats twice. 3/6/16 was the latest occurrence.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/20/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated while driving the vehicle while driving approximately 55mph reduced engine power. In addition, the vehicle had trouble shifting and began shaking violently when the vehicle's check engine and stabili trac warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed the throttle body had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 118,000. Kh.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/18/2015

The sunroof leaks when it is closed, and this is causing water to come in to the roof of the vehicle. Water is coming in from the front air bags, the windshield, under the dash, out of the garage door opener, the visor, and the back seat belts. I now have to replace the body control module which is related to the water damaging the unit. I am fearful the with the water getting in by the airbags that if I get into an accident they will malfunction. I have also been receiving messages about servicing the stabilitrac, but when I have had it looked at the mechanic can't find anything wrong, so this could also be related to the body control module.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/14/2015

When it rains my 2008 Saturn Outlook will continue to run even after the key is removed from the ignition. My battery drains down for no reason and my radio will not turn off when the driver door is open. I have recently started smelling an extremely fowl smell that comes and goes. The speakers in my car work when they want to. I believe there is a short in my car that is causing these problems.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/21/2015

For a couple weeks I've been having problems opening my trunk hatch, I tried again today and it didn't open. I then bent down to pick up my bags when the hatch opened on its own and hit me in the head pretty hard. It's very frustrating not being able to open my trunk when I have groceries in it. I didn't go to the doctor or the er because I work in the medical field and can recognize the signs of a concussion.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/03/2015

The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, smoke started emitting from above the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle engulfed into flames. The approximate failure mileage was 110,760. Ak.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 08/30/2015

As a result of inclement weather, water has been able to access the interior of the vehicle which resulted in malfunctioning of electrical components of the overhead accessories. Sunroof has been stuck into open position and was not able to retract the sunroof back into the closed position.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 06/18/2015

Ac blower stopped working do to water coming in from sunroof. Contacted Saturn they told me since it is out of warranty they cannot do anything. Even if it is a manufacturer defect. Wow unbelievable. Poor customer service. Dealer wants $75 do diagnose the problem then $700 to fix the water leak and $500 for blower motor. They can keep the car for those prices. This is unacceptable someone needs to regulate these dealers and car companies better. No Saturn or gm for my family.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

My car was just purchased 3 months ago and it is leaking water heavy into the driver and passenger compartment from the roof area into the headliner, a lot of sloshy while driving from roof area the carpet creating mold, bad odors and possible electrical issue with water dripping on defrost blower near drivers wheel well prior corrosion present there.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 03/30/2015

Issues with the 2007 Saturn oulook include ongoing electrical issues (lights intermittent functioning, stabilitrack, traction control and abs lights on intermittently, remote start doesn't work, power lift gate opens on it's own, lift gate switch failed internally), air intake filled with oil and water mix, water under fuel induction service, intermittently the stabilitrack will turn off, message saying 'engine power reduced', car shakes, no power and requires coasting to side of road. (this particular issue is temporarily addressed by turning the car off, removing the keys, opening the door, waiting five minutes. Then the car starts but check engine light remains on. ) required new throttle body, replacing struts, sway bar link, shot and/or strut assembly. Rack and pinion, tie rods needed to be replaced. Most recently having difficulties with hard shifting, cel and traction control lights on, intake boot full of oil, vehicle will not shift out of 1st gear until 4000rmp's and does the same thing on highway in 2nd gear.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 02/12/2015

I had just left a stop light when the service brake system light came on immediately followed by the stabilitrac system is off . Had to pull into a parking lot turn off engine for about 20 seconds to reset system . It happened again today in the parking lot at the local walmart . I'm afraid to take a long trip. Also have a problem with noise in the sterring collum . GMC dealer says the rack and pinion is rubbing and needs to be replaced . The car has never been in an accident . How can this happen ?.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

The contact stated that while driving during low temperatures, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle accelerated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was oil in the engine air flow. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000. Sg.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/02/2014

Passenger airbag seat sensor/module doesn't recognize a passenger in no matter the weight. Dealership wants $900 for new part. This is a safety issue not a wear and tear issue and should be resolved by gm.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

When driving at highway speeds I notice the indication lamp in the dash where speed, temp and direction is lit, flashes on and off intermittently. Also that webbing in rear seat belts does not retract and is frayed through and may result is failure to restrain occupants. Dealership claims all the recalls were address prior to the sale of the vehicle (1 owner) before it's sell to me the consumer.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

The sun roof leaks and a large amount of water had collected inside the battery terminal which is located under and behind the front passenger's seat. Since then, water continues to leak in from the sun roof "tubes" which have been cleaned out several time. I have had water that puddles under the carpeting in the front and rear seat and has effected the electrical. There are numerous instances posted and youtube videos of folks who have also dealt with this issue. It's a shame that it has not been addressed. Gm has no resolution and the dealership charges $50 to "blow out the lines" I. E. Using an air hose to blow air through the tubes. It's obvious the sun roof is not properly sealed and the tubes (drains as they are referred to by the dealership) are not full proof. The water also leaks from the side airbag curtains and the sun roof control panel.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 11/26/2014

Purchased this 2007 Saturn Outlook in 2013 used with only around 80k miles on it. The previous owner did tell us about the leaking areas once the drains get clogged, my husband has been diligent cleaning them, but living in florida it rains heavy all the time. We noticed more and more frequently the inside dripping in the 3rd row, until many times, until this past November it rained heavy for 2 days and the water started coming thru what seemed to be from the ac vents on both rows, and through the front driver and passenger side walls very heavy, upon leaving work went to turn off the car took keys out twice and it would not shut off. So now there is the electrical areas being soaked, let it dry out cleaned drains again, and it just seems the more rain we have the more water comes in. Right now car is in garage since we had the same situation with rain and now it is dripping from everywhere. . Afraid to drive car since we know that the electrical system and wires are wet. I have a toddler whom I had to cover with a towel cause water was dripping on her. Gm needs to do something about this, before it caused a fire and could cause death too. This seems to be happening to too many families. . What are they waiting for???.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 11/09/2014

I have a 2007 Saturn Outlook whis is leaking water in through what I assume is the sunroof. My son, who was sitting in the third row of seating (back seat) noticed water leaking from the dome light. The water was also noticed in other areas of the vehicle throughout the drive. I have also started noticing electrical issues with the vehicle not that the rain has come in as well as water stains from other such issues.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/16/2014

While parked on a resident driveway, it was raining for awhile there and rain came thru both side frames from the windshield inner pillar panels and was dripping on the floor mats and went thru the carpet and soak the floor, it does this every time it rains it comes through like that, smell like burnt wires came out on our way back home.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 08/29/2014

Water leaks into my vehicle from a variety of locations. One through the back-up distance indicator in the back of the vehicle, down the insides of the door panels onto the driver and passenger floor, and down the inside of the windshield. My car started not turning off when I would turn the ignition off with the key and pull it out. I brought it to a mechanic and he fixed 5 leaks in the sunroof drains. Now my blower motor won't work, but my car does turn off again when I want it to. Mechanic said I should bring the car back in to have all the carpet/seats taken out and completely dried out so I don't get mold under the carpet, too. Don't have the funds for all the fixes for this vehicle and the electric problems, so I'll have to do one at a time. I love the vehicle, but it's a love/hate relationship. I the leaks and the damage the leaks caused, since they are known issues, were covered under some kind of a recall.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

On Saturday July 5, 2014, while traveling n/b on I-81 in virginia my 2007 Saturn Outlook xr suddenly began to lose power to the engine. At the time, I was in the left lane and going approximately 70 mph. At no time did any check engine light or other service indicator come on. Fortunately I was able to steer the vehicle over to the right shoulder before it completely stopped. After about 30 minutes on the shoulder the vehicle lost all electrical power. I had my wife and 3 kids (8yr, 6yr and 3 month old) in the car when this happened. It took an hour for the tow truck to get to us. We loaded the car seats and all of us into the tow truck and were towed to a mechanics shop in front royal, va. Since all shops were closed at that time, we had to leave our car and went to a hotel. On Monday July 7th, we were told it would be at least a few days until they figured out what went wrong. I rented a car and drove home to NJ. On Thursday July 10th, the mechanic shop called and said the engine was completely shot due to a missing valve cover inside the engine, 1 of the catalytic converters not working and multiple pistons failing. On July 24th the car was finally picked up and transported to another mechanic by my residence. The next day that shop called with the same diagnosis and said I needed a new engine. I had to purchase a new engine from gm for $5,000. That purchase with labor and tax will cost me $7,500. This whole breakdown ended up costing me approx. $9,000 total and I am still waiting to get my car back. The vehicle has been in my family since it was purchased and had all the recommended tune ups/recalls performed. It bothers me that gm puts families at risk by not addressing this issue. Breaking down on the side of the highway puts people in dangerous situations. Gm should own up to this problem and take all appropriate action to prevent a potential tragedy.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/30/2014

I just left my 2008 Outlook xr at the dealer. According to them the problem are the tubes that drain the water from the sunroof. These tubes run inside the front and rear columns (on the sides the windshield in the front and the side columns on the back of the car). These tubes are not long enough to drive the water until the bottom of the car so the water will leak into the inner fuse block, will damp the carpets on the passenger and driver sides and make much more damage than you can believe. As the insulator between the carpet and the floor is like a sponge, it will absorb the water and soaks all the connectors that run below the insulator (cables that run from the battery, to the seats motors and heater, etc, etc). Not to mention that it may damage the airbag triggers mechanisms located on the columns besides the windshield?. Based on the number of complains about this issue at the internet, why nobody has done anything yet? what if the front sides airbag does not deploy as expected due to this rain inside the car????? NHTSA should seriously inquire gm for that as it may put many lives at risk. And not only to Saturn Outlook owners. The same is happening to GMC acadias and Buick enclaves. . . .

67 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/30/2014

The problem starts with heavy rain leaking through the sun roof. According to the ed morse dealership representative, the sunroof is projected to pass some water (very few) that will drain through the drain tubes located at the front and rear columns (sides of the windshield). However, the tubes may get clogged an the water starts leaking inside the car through the columns were airbag are located. Nevertheless, these tubes are not long enough to drive the water until the bottom of the car so the water will leak into the inner fuse block, will damp the carpets on the passenger and driver sides and make much more damage than you can believe. As the insulator between the carpet and the floor is like a sponge, it will absorb the water and soaks all the connectors that run below the insulator (cables that run from the battery, to the seats motors and heater, etc, etc). Not to mention that it may damage the airbag triggers mechanisms located on the columns besides the windshieldâ?¦. Based on the number of complains about this issue at the internet, why nobody has done anything yet? what if the front sides airbag does not deploy as expected due to this rain inside the car????? NHTSA should seriously inquire gm for that as it may put many lives at risk. And not only to Saturn Outlook owners. The same is happening to GMC acadias and Buick enclaves. . . . There are many forums with such complain at the internet and in one of them a representative from gm ask us to contact her but I sent her 2 e-mails and so far I have no answer. Her e-mail is [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

68 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/11/2014

The car caught on fire.

70 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/04/2014

Every since I have had a recall fixed. . . My lights flicker on the dash and I have been having problems with the transmission seeming to stay in one gear. It was told to me that it may be a timing chain issue but it is not a recall. I have read numerous complaints in regards to this issue from other Outlook owners.
