1 Steering Rack And Pinion problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/18/2017

Upon driving vehicle attempted to parallel park and without warning power steering was lost almost causing an accident. Vehicle was taken to dealer where the pressure hose was to be replaced at $500. Momentarily regained power with loud noises while turning. Service center replaced pump at $700+ and I still have no power steering. Now I may have to replace rack and pinions. I have a large family and afraid to travel with them in the vehicle at all.

2 Steering Rack And Pinion problem of the 2010 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 05/21/2016

When turning right or left, typically at lower speeds, the steering nearly freezes up making it almost impossible to turn. I have taken the car to the shop - can't figure out what it is, and I have called my dealer - says it's no longer under warranty and no recall issued for this type of thing so I would be wasting my time to bring it in. The car is only at 90,000 miles and I'm afraid this issue may result in a crash and or injury to my family and I have no idea what to do. There is no leaking from any areas including the power steering pump and rack and pinion.

6 Steering Rack And Pinion problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 02/17/2014

I was driving my children to school when my power steering just stopped and I had to try and drive without it. I was told a month before it was the steering and pinion rack, got that fixed and there was two codes that popped up. I was told that one cancelled out the other which didn't make sense. Now the transmission needs work and they say that was the problem to begin with. I have spent so much money trying to fix this problem only to find out that it was the transmission along. I am very disappointed in GMC cause when I went to the dealer they suggested that I change part until they find the problem. I am pissed cause I still can't enjoy my truck anymore. My extended warranty is over and they dealer wants over 2000 grand to fix the transmission ¦ if that's what it really the problem. Looking online many people have had this issue and still no recall on the transmissions for Saturn Outlooks. Shame on you GMC.

7 Steering Rack And Pinion problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

Purchased car used in 2012. Problems started about a month later. First windows stopped rolling down and side mirrors unable to be moved. Was finally able to get that fixed in April of 2013, except the mirrors, they failed to fix those. Brake pedal was making a squeaking sound when pressed. Was also fixed in April 2013. A squeaking or grinding sound started when turning along with a loud metallic squeaking sound when going over speed bumps, pulling into driveway, stuff like that. In April 2013, the rack and pinion was replaced. All this was under my extended warranty. About 4 or 5 months after that repair, the same things were happening. A grinding sound when I turn, brake squeaking again, the same sound going over speed bumps and losing power steering fluid. Took car back to dealership, unable to have it seen for a month. When I was able to get it in, it was well over the parts warranty and the extended warranty was out. Now the same things need to be replaced, plus the engine mount is broken and needs to be fixed. When I complained to the dealership about it and letting them know that I tried to get my vehicle in while the warranty was still valid, they offered to pay $750, leaving me to cover the other $956. I haven't even had them try to figure out why my car doesn't start right away only after I put gas in the tank, regardless of how much gas is already in the tank. I am guessing that is some sort of fuel pump problem, but I'm not a mechanic. I have also had to replace my left rear blinked light twice in under 6 months. I take care of my vehicle, I don't drive it off-road or over pot holes and I don't hit curbs. I don't believe there is any reason for these items to be failing like they are, except that there is a huge problem with the vehicle that gm doesn't want to address.
