Three times within a 1 year period, the windshield cracked without an object hitting it. First time in July, 2021, second time in September, 2021, and third time in June, 2022. After the first time, I had the windshield replaced at my own expense. The second time, Subaru completed the replacement at no cost. The third time, Subaru completed the replacement but refused to pay for it, claiming that an object likely hit the windshield. However, the crack occurred overnight while the car was in my driveway. I believe the windshield is obviously defective and I should be remunerated for at least the last replacement and any future such replacements.

Windshield glass cracks very easily from rocks. In the last year I’ve had 7 cracks form. I’ve never had this trouble with any other vehicle including a 2012 Subaru that I own and drive just as much. This impairs my vision and decreases the windshield integrity. I have claimed all windshield through my insurance and it has been very expensive. The only glass I can replace the windshields with is Subaru glass. The quality is very poor. I will upload the 2 most recent cracks.
The windshield developed a crack that started at the right a pillar center of glass and is about 18" long. There are no visible "impact" points from anything hitting the glass. There is no "star" either. I did not hear anything hit the glass. The fissure just appeared one day.

For the second time in 2 months my windshield spontaneously cracked while the car was parked.
Crack appeared starting from below the passenger windshield wiper on the windshield out of the blue, while sitting in driveway.
I was driving down the road and I heard a sound, and then saw a 5 inch horizontal crack, starting at the left side of the windshield and then it turned 1 inch up. . . . It was just above the inspection sticker. I did not hear anything hit but heard a sound. Both surfaces, inside and outside of the glass are smooth. I cannot feel any crack but can see it. I had my defroster on and it was sporadically raining and sleeting. I will be getting it repaired.
The original windshield cracked starting at the bottom left corner and quickly spread across the entire window. I went to Subaru and paid to replace the window. Within 2 weeks the window had cracked again and spread across the entire window.
Winshield cracked with unknown reason.

The windshield cracked for no apparent reason. Because my wife works from home the car sat in the driveway for over a week and when she went out to use the car she noticed the windshield was cracked.
Windshield cracks very easily with no outside force inflicting damage. Windshield has cracked 2 times in 2 years.
My windshield spontaneously cracked while the car was sitting in my garage. The crack is in the lower portion of the windshield just above the defroster. It is approximately 2 feet long with 2 perpendicular cracks radiating from it. I am contacting the Subaru dealer for repair.
-purchased a Subaru Legacy in April 2021. Windshield cracked in may 2021, thought it was a fluke. Worked with insurance company to replace it with a Subaru windshield at an authorized glass replacement business. Windshield cracked again in Jan. 2022. Haven't owned this a year yet. -my safety and that of my family is at risk because this glass breaks easily and I feel unsafe driving it while working to get it fixed again. -there are known windshield problems with recent forester, outback, and Legacy models and pending litigation, but not on 2021 model years yet.
Windshield developed small crack & expanded to windshield wide in a few hours. Cracked windshield & crack expansion is unsafe. Not reproduced or confirmed. Not inspected. No warning lamps.
The windshield on my 2022 Subaru Legacy cracked. The crack looks like it started at the bottom center of the windshield and is working its way up several inches and now spreading to the passenger side. I took it to the dealer this morning. They used a marker to trace the crack and found a very small impact point. They said it doesn't take much as the windshields are thinner in Subaru's due to the camera system. I feel like this is a safety issue. And it seems to be common issue with Subaru.

Windshield cracked in the bottom left corner.
A very small chip in the windshield has now turned into a large crack. The chip is 1-2mm in depth. I have never seen such a small chip turn into a crack like this.
My car's windshield was hit by a small stone while driving on highway speed. At first it seemed to be a small chip/ crack. After a minute or two the crack got bigger. This is the second time I'm facing this issue. Same kind of incident happened a month ago as well. I thought Subaru had best safety ratings. But if this happens to someone while driving in the middle of nowhere and the glass shatters all of a sudden for just a mere tiny stone chips, I don't feel safe driving this car at all. I have attached my previous insurance claim info and pictures of incident as well. I have noticed many cars with a chip or small crack on windshield. But they don't pose any serious concern to drive the vehicle. In my case it's a serious concern for safety as the small chip spreads across the windshield which is a threat to drivability of the vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate this as soon as possible.
The component that failed is the windshield. The windshield has a 14 inch stress crack. The crack suddenly appeared, there was no impact. The crack interferes with the Subaru eyesight driver assistance. The Subaru eyesight driver assistance could malfunction while driving. The integrity of the windshield has been compromised. I brought the car to the Subaru dealership and they said it was not covered under warranty even though the car only has 6,000 miles on it. The Subaru dealership said they took pictures of the windshield and submitted them to Subaru of America. Subaru of America will not replace the windshield. According to Subaru when the windshield is replaced the eyesight driver assistance must be recalibrated adding an additional expense.
This is in regard to the thin and fragile windshield Subaru has decided to put into their vehicles of which there are already several civilian class action lawsuits which should have already warranted an investigation into the glass. In my particular case, the windshield is so soft whenever the slightest rock hits it, big chips come out of it. The vehicle has 5,100 miles on it and has a windshield that is worse than my 2007 Subaru with 95,000 miles. Yesterday a small pebble struck the lower right corner of my windshield initially putting a chip that then cracked sitting in the garage overnight. In all my years I have had other strikes happen such as a huge rock falling off of a gravel truck (I have this on dash cam video) striking my windshield with minimal damage. Anything that touches this new 2020 Subaru windshield results in a chip and or a crack compromising the rigidity of the structure, impairing visibility, and thus jeopardizing the safety of the driver. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle as I feel if a large enough rock would ever strike the windshield that it would result in catastrophic failure.
Window on right passenger door doesn't stay up when we close the window with the power window button. Sometimes at night the eyesight system turns off. At times the radio entertainment system doesn't want to work.

Unknown spontaneous, crack located near perfect center of lower windshield.
3 times I have changed out the windshield with not ever having anything hit it.
I purchased a 2020 Subaru Legacy sport in March of 2020. On August 25th 2020, while on the freeway a small rock chipped the upper passenger side of the windshield. By the next morning it turned into a crack which spanned almost half of the windshield directly in front of the eyesight cameras. Once the glass was replaced with an oem windshield, I noticed the new glass appeared to have defects. During peak glare times, the windshield appeared "pitted" as if it had been sand-blasted and was nearly impossible to see out of. I had a professional technician inspect the windshield and a new one was ordered and installed. This took months to be resolved. Next was on July 15th 2021, a small rock caused a bullseye chip in my windshield too large to be fixed. Another oem windshield was installed. On October 21st 2021 another small rock hit the windshield on the freeway and caused a chip immediately. Within a minute the glass made a loud cracking sound and a crack over a foot long instantly appeared. In 1 year 8 months, I've had the windshield replaced 4 times. The glass is brittle and/or defective. It's dangerous and costly and needs to be addressed.
My 2015 Legacy developed a 8 inch crack on the bottom right of the windshield at passenger side last 2 days. No sign of rock hitting, it just chip & crack without any sound. Never have any windshield cracking experienced in my 40 years of driving, with other brand car. It should be a product problem, manufacturer should be under investigate for affected brand/year car. A recall and replacement should be provided to car owner.

Had a small rock hit my window near the driver's side on the bottom. The window cracked instantly. It was a large crack!.
Windshield spontaneously cracked while using defrost function on 9/9/2021. Crack started from bottom center of windshield, at the ceramic defrost line, below rubber seal. Crack approximately 6 inches long. Called Subaru within minutes and directed to take to dealership to have photo taken and submitted to Subaru for warranty work. Visited dealership and photos taken on 9/13/2021. Have been told by dealership multiple times still waiting on Subaru to approve the warranty work. Since then the crack has continued to spread and now goes up approximately 2/3rd of the windshield bottom towards top.
Front windshield cracked and there was no apparent ding from rock. Crack came from side and spread quickly. I had it replaced by Subaru and 4 months later it happened again. The crack again came from the side with no reason. Two replacements out of my own pocket. My 2020 Legacy windshield must be defective.
I was driving home from work when the windshield cracked from the bottom of the passenger side right by the windshield wiper and now has spiraled up.

The windshield just made a popping noise and cracked while driving.
The windshield formed a crack towards the bottom of the passenger side and was about 3-5inches to start. Over time, the crack grew to approximately over 1ft. Later on, another crack began forming on the drivers side of the windshield, also starting at only a few inches, and now has grown into almost 1ft long. Am in process of looking to have it repaired, but have not set a date yet. Having a cracked windshield is an overall safety risk any time you drive the car due to it's ability to impact visibility as it grows/becomes worse. The windshield has not yet been inspected manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, but has been seen during state inspection. There were no warnings/messages/symptoms before seeing the crack - they first appeared a day or two after I had recently had my car's oil changed at an autobody shop. My friend noticed it when sitting in the car when we got in at my driveway. There are no signs of malicious or accidental damage present where the crack begins, and no signs of a dent from a rock chipping the windshield.
I have needed to replace the windshield twice in the last month. A tiny chip starts running quickly. The glass company said that the windshield felt soft and should not have run a his touch.
A 6-inch crack suddenly appeared in the lower driver's side area of the windshield starting from the very edge in the black area. It follows the exact pattern of multiple other windshield crack complaints in this model year. The windshield has already been replaced twice before out-of-pocket due to similar cracking.
Windshield cracked for no reason while driving. Nothing hit the windshield. Car was slowly turning with no other car in front of it. There was a loud pop sound and the windshield was cracked on the driver side. Called dealership, and they said a self cracking windshield is not covered under warranty. Only 18,000 miles on the car. Will have to go through insurance until this is finally a recall.
This is the 2nd time my windshield cracked for no apparent reason.
