The contact owns a 2017 Tesla Model S. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v838000 (electrical systems) however, the contact was informed by the dealer, he needs to upgrade the vehicles computer from media control unit 1 to media control unit 2 to receive proper software updates. The contact stated the vehicle is on the latest autosteer computer however, the infotainment is on the media control unit 1 computer which is no longer receiving software update, to include safety updates. The contact stated, the computer is able to received updates, however, the manufacture choose not to write code for the older computers due to cost. The vehicle was not updated version 2022. 8. 10. 16 to to the necessary version 2023. 44. 30 or later due to cost. The approximate failure mileage was 91,840.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
