Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Toyota 4Runner - part 2

Previous complaints, 10565915,10514762. Because of my complaints to safecar. Gov, Toyota send me a report of the edr inspection. As per the inspection reports, Toyota says I was driving 50 mile per hour when the traffic stopped suddenly in front of me. And I stepped on the brakes but the vehicle did not have enough time to stop and I hit the vehicle in front of me in the rear. The vehicle was inspected on may 17 2013, because I filed a complaint through safecar. Gov. When I had the accident I contacted Toyota few times to inspect the vehicle while the vehicle was in the repair shop. However Toyota refuses to do that. Now the edr report from Toyota says, vehicle appeared to have been already repaired, so making a complete determination as to why the airbags did not deploy cannot be done. That letter also asked me to send any pictures of my damaged vehicle. I send the pictures to Toyota and now another letter saying, after review of the photographs of the damage, this was not a direct frontal impact but an impact directed to the left front of the vehicle. There was insufficient abrupt forward deceleration of the vehicle to deploy the airbags. My insurance company estimated damage to the whole front part of the vehicle and paid $9300. 00 to repair the vehicle. I believe Toyota don’t want to say that it’s the airbag fault, because then they have to recall all the 4runners to repair the airbags. Anyway I am still alive, and I don’t want any other owners to go through this kind of tragic accident. Hope safecar. Gov will watch Toyota for its failure in the airbag safety of this vehicles. Toyota 4runner was stopped at red light and was rearended by a Chevrolet s10 and caused the 4runner to slam into the Chrysler SUV in front at light. The 4runner and s10 were both totaled. The 4runner front airbags did not deploy and both occupants suffered cuts and bruises along with whiplash and minor neck injuries.

I was driving my children to school and a car coming in the opposite direction tried to make a left hand turn in front of me, she did not have time to make the turn( I didn't even have time to put on brakes) which ended up in a head on collision. I was going around 45mph and my airbag did not deploy. No one was seriously hurt but my head and upper body did get bruised and banged up pretty bad. I do have a police report and I'm waiting to get the copy.

I was stopped on the highway behind a truck making a left turn when I was rear ended by another truck going 60 mph. My 4runner was crushed between them, totalled, and my air bags never deployed. I hit the steering wheel so hard I bounced off of it and broke my seat from the momentum. When I awoke I had slid into the back seat (which is all that was really left of the vehicle). Although I am thankful to be alive, I feel that at that force, the airbags should have deployed!.

Air bags failed to deploy on Feb. 10, 2010 following a serious front end crash (30-50 mph) of our 1999 Toyota 4 runner. As a result wife was hospitalized for 2 days with concussion, sprained neck and ptss. California highway patrol responded. Report taken.

The contact owns a 2001 Toyota 4runner. While driving 35 mph she attempted to brake, but the vehicle suddenly accelerated,went air born, and landed down a ravine. The driver frontal air bag did not deploy. She did not receive any injuries. After careful examination he noticed that the accelerator pedal was trapped by the floor mat. She received police report number 097267. She received a ticket for failure to reduce speed. The vehicle was towed to the body shop. The failure and current mileages were 90,000.

Vehicle crash and airbags failed to deploy.

I was driving in the left/fast lane on a toll road when another vehicle who was speeding in excess of 55mph entering the toll road crossing and cutting off the other lanes of traffic running into me on the passenger side forcing me into the concrete wall/barrier head on. His vehicle swung into again into my passenger rear side then bounced off. I was stunned, in shock, unable to exit on my side and didn't see it coming. I was thrown left into the frame and window and jerked around even though I had my seat belt fastened. The air bags did not deploy. I had front and side curtain airbags and had only just purchased the 4runner a few months prior. It was declared to be totaled. I permanently injured my neck, back and broke my nose. In addition, I have anxiety and panic attacks about driving. The other driver was cited at fault for failure to control speed and unsafe lane changes and his insurance paid for my totaled vehicle and what little insurance coverage he had for my personal injuries. I was just now notified that there was a problem with my vehicle's air bags and sensors (a recall), now that it is almost exactly 4 years from the accident, there is nothing I can apparently do to hold Toyota at fault due to statute of limitations. This very upsetting. I am fully disabled now and will be on pain management and periodic physical therapy for the rest of my life, and can no longer even perform simple chores.

We were stopped in traffic in our 2006 Toyota 4runner. We were slammed into from behind by a car traveling around 45mph. Thus we slammed into the car infront of us. Our airbags did not deploy, and the passenger seatbelt did not lock up, thus causing severe injuries to the passenger. There is around $11,000 damage to our truck.

Front end collision with semi where air bags failed to deploy. He said/she said situation. Trucker stated he was broadsided by driver who ran red light. Toyota driver states truck "jack knifed" or swerved into her car as he was changing lanes in intersection. Truck has a flat rear tire on second trailer and front end of car was totaled. Air bags did not deploy. Does the speed of the car traveling make a difference? driver of car had sprained neck and concussion and was wearing safety belt. Had bruises from safety belt on shoulder. Will gladly e-mail pictures of severity of front end.

Air bags failed to deploy. I had sent in a complaint after the incident. Car was totaled and driver was injured with a front end collision. Toyota refused to look at car for airbag defects. I can send images if needed. Recalled for too much force? how about just defective? this is at least as dangerous as deploying with too much force in my opinion.

Driver's air bag failed to deploy following a direct front collision having extensive damage to bumper and motor on a 2005 Toyota 4runner.

Head-on collision while stopped at light by panel van traveling at 25 mph, police estimate, front air bags failed to deploy.

We have a 2005 Toyota 4-runner. I was involved in an accident that did $12,000. 00 worth of damage. I basically fell asleep at the wheel drifted across the highway and took out 7 metal guard rail poles with wires in between and the air bag never deployed.

While driving 20 mph had a frontal impact with a large tree in which the front end was crushed. Upon impact, driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploy, which did not protect the occupants in the crash. Please provide further information.

Traveling 55 mph on CA interstate when car directly in front of me abruptly stopped. There was not enough time for me to stop, so I impacted the rear of the vehicle head on at approximately 45 mph. Not one of the airbags in my vehicle deployed. Contacted Toyota about this and they said it is their "opinion that the airbags should not have deployed in this situation. " I asked them where the frontal impact sensors were, and was told directly under the headlights in the bumper. Well, both sensors were in the impacted area on my vehicle, the entire bumper and assembly is being replaced. The cost to repair the damage is $10,000. 00 the owners manual says the airbags will deploy in a frontal crash at approximately 15 mph, I was doing at least 45 mph! Toyota refuses to admit the failure of the airbags, and now I will be driving an unsafe vehicle.

I have a 2004 4runner limited. The dash has a long crack all the way across the front. The dash on the passenger side right above the glove box is covered with cracks. I believe that this is a defect in materials used by Toyota and that it can potentially cause the airbag to not deploy correctly. The local dealership claims that they have never seen anything like it before, but there are numerous other complaints online. I believe that if it was caused by the weather or products used that the cracks would be all over the top of the dash, not just the front where the airbag is suppose to deploy. A recall needs to be issued and Toyota needs to own up to its faulty dashes.

Involved in accident,air bags did not deploy,seat belts did not hold resulting in hitting stearing wheel and fracturing my stearnum. Collision repair center replaced computer that controls air bag and seat belts.

I was driving on the freeway doing approx. 60 mph. The road conditions were wet from previous rainfall. My 2000 Toyota 4runner sr5 2wd hydroplaned and caused me to spin out multiple times. I struck the concrete center divider twice and continued to spin and finally slid across all four lanes of the freeway and rested on the right shoulder. While the vehicle did feel like it was trying to rollover, I managed to steer the wheel opposite of where it was pulling and kept it upright. However, during the accident and upon impact (twice) neither one of my airbags deployed. Both myself and my front passenger were injured which may or may not have been caused by the airbags failure to deploy. I placed a call to Toyota customer service center and was told that there are not any current recalls on my model.

While driving at highway speeds it became necessary to take evasive maneuvers. When I slammed on the brakes I did not feel the abs engage. I lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail. When this occurred the vehicle rolled front over back and the airbags never deployed. This concerned me. How can a vehicle roll over and the airbags never deploy?.

I was driving on the highway at about 45 to 50 miles per hour speed on a slightly wet road. All of the sudden, the vehicle started to skidded out of control and hit the highway divider wall(guardrail) on the right front of the driver side and rolled over and spinned 50 feet away before the vehicle stopped. On Jul. 21, 2000, I was travelling south on hwy 25 and another car pulled out in front of me. I was travelling approx 64 mph with my cruise set at 64. The front of my vehicle hit the passenger side of the other vehicle. My front end was demolished. The airbag did not deploy. The vehicle was wrote off as a total loss by my insurance company.
