Bumper Problems of Toyota 4Runner

While driving on the highway yesterday I noticed a vibration and worsening noise. I exited the highway and pulled over into a parking lot. I observed the front air dam/lower valence had come undone. Upon further inspection I saw that 3 of the 9 10mm bolts securing the piece had apparently fallen out. I belong to a Toyota 4runner forum (6thgen4runner. Com) and searched for tis issue there and it is apparently occurring for a number of owners. As a precaution I had to remove the piece to prevent further damage to my vehicle or to others on the road.

I recently purchased a 2025 4runner and currently have approximately 1,000 miles on it. On Sunday, as I was driving from sedona to phoenix on interstate 17, I heard an odd sound from the driver’s front tire area. Upon inspection, at least one screw/bolt was missing on the front spoiler and it was hanging loose and rubbing against the tire. The edge had been rubbing against the front tire as I drove down into the valley. Rear bumper has a design flaw causing it to accumulate dirt on inside "lip". If not cleaned out properly, which is impossible to do, rust will start to eat through the bumper from the inside out. This causes an unsafe condition because the integrity of the bumper is compromised leading to a lack of protection from the rear, not to mention one ugly sight.

Rear bumper rusting through from the inside out. Dealer says the result of poor welds on the bumper brackets. Vehicle has 5 year rust through warranty that dealer and company will not honor on the bumper, only on sheet metal.

The contact stated the rear bumper rusted and corroded. The rust was completely through the middle section of the bumper. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the problem.
