Toyota's failure to install an auto-stop caused the carbon-monoxide poisoning of two (more) people, many dozens of such deaths reported. (detail: they had likely stopped the engine, but the wireless fob can re-start; and this model has an auto stop/start function that can also lead to death. ] note: not my car, my parents.

When starting the car and proceeding to accelerate the car stalls. There have been several incidents where the car has done this (each time being taken to service at Toyota). One in particular almost being hit by a truck when going from a red light to green light. Another one turning out of a parking lot and having to make sure there was absolutely no cars coming my direction in fear of being hit while turning and car stalling. These issues have been too many since I have purchased the car. This matter has been taken up to customer relations and reviewing how many times I have taken this vehicle in they continue to tell me that they have not failed to repair my car. I have continued to take the car to be serviced and diagnostic comes up with no problems in the computer system. *I also have videos and all of my service invoices regarding the stalling issue that has yet to be corrected. *.

When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. It will then accelerate normally. When driving in heavy conditions at speeds under 35 the car hesistates badly when you try to accelerate and then "jumps" forward. Same thing happens on the downside to the point that it feels like its going to stall. The service advisor also said there had been other complaints about this condition. This condition is dangerous and not normal.

In July 2013, my perfectly wonderful Toyota Avalon (2007, 67,700 miles) ruptured a ttvi oil hose and within a matter of minutes blew up my engine. Upon contacting Toyota, I was told there had been a service campaign for the exact problem for camrys and Avalons including my year and model, but that I was not notified nor covered because my VIN #was outside the parameters. I filed what I thought was an appeal of this phone and local dealer determination. I received acknowledgment of my complaint (1307241937) but no determination. I just called Toyota national torrance, and was told my status was closed because they had determined my VIN was not covered-- my appeal was to the point of why my VIN was not covered. I live in ky, 20 miles from the Toyota plant and have many friends that work there. Many have told me that the VIN is an unreliable parameter, because often they have old parts on their trays that are installed on later vehicles. Every party agrees that there was a service campaign on the exact rare defect-originated problem and that my damage was the result of the exact defect described in the campaign. Every party agrees that I was not notified. The issue is why my VIN number (and thousands of others I am sure) was not included and why, given the evidence that it should have been included, Toyota is not willing to reimburse me for the repair of the car---$307 for hose and $6500 for engine which ended up being the mark down of what local Toyota gave me for my car toward a new car.

Toyota Avalon 1998 stalling while at highway speeds. Toyota Avalon 1998 stalling at traffic lights and stop signs. January 29, 2007 nearly involved in a broad-side accident when car stalled beginning to enter roadway, oncoming traffic had to swerve around narrowing avoiding a collision. This is a problem with Avalons and camrys that is well-documented by other owners on the internet. Dealership replaced air fuel sensor on January 19, 2007, car stalled again the very next day on highway. The car is now back in the shop as of January 31, 2007, with dealer unable to diagnose problem. There have been many incidents over the last several months that seem to be escalating. Unsafe vehicle to drive as it will cut off in the middle of the highway going 65 miles an hour without warning. Car has less than 40,00 miles on it.

The vehicle has a stalls from time to time without any notice. Already I've had five diffent occasions where the vehicle won't start. I 've took it into the dealer twice they tell me they didn't find anything. The last time I took it ithey kept it overnight, and was told by the assistant manager they checked the computer, starter, engine, transmission, and they didn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. The very next morning it would not start. I'm very upset by this matter, and not to mention the safety issue I don't know when the car is going to stall. I can't travel far for this reason. I also left two messages with the service manager who have not returned any of my calls. I feel that the car has some type of defect and would like to receive justice in this matter. &.
