One day when my car was stationary and after it had set for a few days I started it normally and noticed the srs airbag warning light on my dash came on. This is been about a month now and a local mechanic said the code reading indicates there is an issue with the passenger side airbag. The mechanic said it is a defective airbag. They said it might not deploy as its supposed to during an accident. It is a safety issue that needs to be resovled soon. Airbags are very important and life saving.

The recall remedy for NHTSA campaign 15v043000 is a failure. An identical symptom to the original problem has recurred on two occasions (intermittent illumination of the srs system warning light). Prior to the recall, we attempted to have the error code diagnosed by the dealership following illumination of this warning lamp. However, no error codes were stored. Now, the dealership (lou fusz, st. Louis) claims that they must charge us to attempt to read any stored codes. Obviously, Toyota engineers do not know what the problem is after having a first recall that failed followed by a second recall and now recurrence of identical symptoms.
Srs warning light appeared flashing on car. Took car to have checked and was told the side air bag sensor needed to be replaced. Side air bag sensor was replaced. Light no longer flashed. 5 days later the srs warning light is flashing again. There have been several complaints on the NHTSA website about the same problem. I've been told that some car manufacturers will fix safety issues under an extended warranty. Can Toyota fix these problems free of charge? I'd like to find out before I spend more money trying to diagnose why the srs air bag light is flashing. Several complaints have said that people have had several items repaired and the light still flashes. I think this is a safety issue that Toyota should fix.

My dashboard warning light for my airbag has become illuminated all of the time. I am the original owner of this car, 161,000 miles on odometer. Dealer wants $75 to "check out" the warning light. I don't believe I should be charged any amount to check the vehicle's safety system. I am concerned that I have a defective airbag system, possibly manufactured by takata. I do live in a humid environment in eastern kansas.

While traveling in the left lane at highway speed with no other vehicles in the lane in front of us for at least 100-150 feet, the collision avoidance system randomly engaged. This caused the vehicle to brake very hard, which caused us to decelerate rapidly (losing 20-30 mph in a short distance). The warning beeps that are normally associated with rapidly approaching another vehicle/barrier in front of the vehicle also were sounding, and a warning light came on the instrument panel. In addition, the seatbelts on both front seat occupants locked and drew us forcefully down and backwards into the seats. This last approximately 2 seconds, at which time the beeping stopped, the emergency braking stopped and the seatbelts loosened. The driver was able to maintain steering input throughout and the vehicle continued driving normally afterward. At no time during this event was another vehicle, animal or barrier in front of the vehicle and there were no near-collisions that would or should have caused the system to engage.

I received over the summer of 2014 a recall for my 2003 Toyota Avalon regarding the srs (airbag) warning light and to hang tight because a 'fix' was coming soon. October 22, 2014 I received a 2nd letter from Toyota motor sales, u. S. A. Indicating that the replacement part was in and to contact my Toyota dealership to schedule an appointment. I called walker Toyota (937. 433. 4950) located at 8457 springboro pike, miamisburg, OH 45342 on October 23, 2014 and attempted to schedule my car for repair. I was told that they did not have the replacement part but would contact me soon. On November 3, 2014 the srs warning light came on the dashboard. I immediately took the car to the night drop at walker Toyota with the hope the part would be installed on Nov. 4, 2014. I received a phone call from bob (service mgr. ) that there was no indication that the srs warning light came on based on the car computer and because this is not considered an 'emergency' I have to wait 10 days for a part to become available. I now have a car that I'm afraid to drive for fear of the airbag deploying. I was assured by bob that this has 'never' happened to his knowledge. Wow. . . . . That makes me feel good about it. I then asked for a rental car with a discount based on this issue. I was told that walker Toyota cannot give a price break on a rental. Keep in mind I'm a school secretary making $32,000. 00 a year. $35 x 10 days is $350. 00. I can't afford to do that. I am now resorting to begging rides to and from work until this car is scheduled for a repair.
Tl - the contact owns a 2004 Toyota Avalon. The contact received recall notice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired under the recall. The vehicle began to experience the same failures as mentioned in the recall the exact next day. The air bag warning light will sporadically illuminate. The contact took vehicle back to the dealer where the technician told the contact the vehicle could not be repaired if warning light does not stay illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 146,499. Mc.
Air bag warning light began flashing. The same week the light started flashing I received a letter from Toyota notifying me that there was a recall for a problem with the srs because the srs circuits are susceptible to internal shorting. The electrical short may create an abnormal current flow and increased heat which can damage the circuits. I brought the vehicle to a certified Toyota dealer to have recall addressed. The dealer told me they performed the fix that was required by Toyota. The work that the dealer performed did not address the problem that was causing air bag warning light to flash. I was told the air bag light was flashing because of a short. I can not figure out how this short in the srs would not be covered under the recall.
My complaint has to do with the air bag recall. The dealer on two occasions replaced components of the air bag system but has been unable to correct the problem. The service consultant claims to have contacted Toyota tech personnel in CA and was told, basically, "there's nothing else we can do under the recall. " if the problem still exists, I. E. The warning light still comes on and, apparently, there is still the risk of a malfunction, I fail to see why further action cannot be taken. From what I have read and heard the consequences of an air bag malfunction can be fatal.
The srs warning light on the dashboard blinks continuously.
The air bag warning light turns on and off. I am the original vehicle owner. The vehicle has never been in a crash nor has the air bag ever deployed. Currently the air bag light is on. I took the vehicle in under the interim air bag recall notice that I received but no repair by the Toyota dealer was made. The interim recall notice for the air bag was received 05/19/2014. Today is 07/27/2014.
2003 Toyota Avalon. Consumer writes in regards to airbag deployment may exist without illumination of the srs warning light. A Toyota representative informed the consumer, it would be months before a remedy would be available.
Electronic control module (ecm) issue: problem w/ intermittent warning lights for air bag some time ago (researching date)- took vehicle to dealership. No more light, but vehicle began stalling/losing power while driving- rarely, but became more frequent over time. Instrument panel/check engine lights will illuminate- now every minute or so while driving. Other people have same problem- NHTSA id 10605681. Took vehicle to dealer late may. Dealer on phone w/ Toyota multiple times + had tech from another dealer come and look at vehicle - could not figure out what was wrong. Dealer now says the ecm faulty. Not repaired, but dealer wants to charge 8hrs of diagnostic time and not repaired - can dealer charge if recall item? my concern is that problem is more than air bags- faulty ecm results in loss of power/control when engine shuts down, stalls or experiences intermittent loss of power- vehicle no longer safe to operate. I cannot drive it; I cannot sell it. Called Toyota, asked for part # of recalled srs/ecm- was told only local dealer has part numbers. They took information and transferred me to "Toyota corporate"- operator id'd as Toyota corporate asked questions, indicated they had documented my file. When I asked operator to confirm items operator had chosen to document, operator refused to respond to my requests for confirmation- I asked for supervisor- was told "no supervisor" there. Operator threw me on hold (on hold for over 30 minutes w/ corporate then transferred me to NHTSA w/out operator ever coming back on the line prior to transfer (NHTSA conf # available). "corporate" indicated that Toyota has no control over dealers- they can charge whatever they want to diagnose even if related to recall notice. Loss of use over 1 month. Dealer said no new ecm replacement part available. Pretty sure recall remedy inadequate.
Air bag warning light came on:dealer - labor 59067 checked all connections. Checked codes. Cleared codes. Air bag warning "red" light came back on within a few days dealer offered a repair approximate cost $2,000. 00 I did not accept did not repair am driving the car since with warning light on all the time.

My wife was driving down the freeway when the seatbelt began tightening down on her to the point she felt she couldn't maintain her posture to drive safely and breath. She pulled off the road and released the seatbelt. She was unable to refasten the seatbelt/shoulder strap. She drove home without a seatbelt. This was in addition to occasional flashing of airbag warning light which has continued to occur since replacement of seatbelt mechanism.
Airbag warning light on dash appeared. The source of this warning has been identified as the spiral cable (clock spring in steering column). This part has not been identified as a recall by Toyota for this model but spiral cables have been identified as a recall for numerous other Toyota models. I suggest this problem may be systemic to a larger group of Toyota products than previously identified by Toyota and since it is a potential safety issue it needs to be addressed accordingly.
When the car is moving, the airbag warning light illuminates and glows, sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for an hour. Then it goes out. I received an interim notice letter from Toyota over 2 months ago citing this problem and stating that they would notify me "again when a remedy is ready". I have not received another notice and I am afraid that a serious accident, injury or fatality could occur if the airbag deploys while being driven and no collision has occurred. Please have Toyota contact me with the remedy so I can have it applied at Toyota's expense.
Airbag system warning indicator light flashes intermittently. Independent repair shop found no codes stored during vehicle check. Illumination of warning light is inconsistent, has no apparent connection to speed or conditions, but has occurred repeatedly. Due to the seriousness of airbag system failure, and the apparent trend of complaints for this specific problem on a range of Toyota Avalon model years, inaction by NHTSA and Toyota must cease.
