The 2003-2004 model Avalon's have a recall for the airbags when exposed to certain frequencies and noises. My 2002 Avalon has the same issue and Toyota needs to include this model year as well. I've had no problems out of this car ever, but as soon as it hit 140,000 miles the air bags light came on. After doing a little research I seen that others were having the same issue. Please include this model year in the recall because this car is very dependable and I've had no issues until now.

"takata recall" airbag. I have been dealing with my airbag light and yellow triangle light coming on while driving for 3 days. The first incident occured while I was driving on the highway during the afternoon after dealership hours. 2nd time was driving on the highway and I immediately took my vehicle to the dealership to which they told me my battery was dirty and failing was the reason for the airbag light to come on. 3rd time I was told that my cell phone charger which was never plugged up on any of the times the light came on was the reason. Still dealing with the unresolved issue.

My airbag light is on for no reason whatsoever. It was supposed to be taken care of in a previous recall I believe but with this update on other vehicles effected I 100 percent sure my 06 Avalon xls and maybe others are having airbag issues. The seats (leather) have been effected by the seat warmers over heating.

#15v043 the airbag indicator light blinking, never stops, whether driving or parked. I purchased this car used, in maryland, where it passed their inspection and will pass my inspection in pennsylvania, but does concern me. I sold my 1999 Toyota Avalon xl to my granddaughter and never had this problem. According to the car fax this vehicle never got a recall, but got the recall # from the internet. Seems this is a problem that the Toyota Avalon has, along with many other vehicles.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Avalon. While driving approximately 20 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated and the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed and caused the vehicle to run over a curb. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer, but was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and their legal department wrote to the contact, stating that the failure was not recall related. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v043000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 136,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Airbag light came on and spent 2000 dollars at don mcgill Toyota to have drivers side airbag replaced. About a 1000 miles ( 3 months) later, the light is back on with the same code. Dealer so far is unable to find the problem. This is a reoccurring problem. I am concerned about inadvertent airbag deployment as well as losing the use of my car while the dealer tries to figure out the problem. I think they are just throwing expensive parts at it hoping something works,.
Car was taken in 05/2016 for recall work to replace srs and ecu. After recall repair, intermittent pax side airbag light flashes on and off saying passenger airbag issue. Dealer refuses to do more than specified recall replacement. We now cannot tell if we have airbags that will work and if the restraint system will tension the seat belts in an accident. The additional issue is that the front springs and struts have a flaw that makes a well aligned car, pull left. We are replacing this Toyota flaw at our own expense despite the presence of a service notice.
"takata recall: in August of 2009 the airbag light came on while driving; I took car to Toyota dealer ,technician road tested the car and said the airbag light did not come on. The airbags light continued coming on at different times, but did not stay on constantly. In July of 2014 I received a recall notice from Toyota, remedy was done, on January 06,2015. This remedy did not work so I was notified in March 2016 that a remedy was ready, and to take my car to the Toyota dealer and the remedy would be installed. Since April 07, 2016 my car has been in and out of the dealership because the airbag light is still coming on especially during warm weather, I got my car back from the Toyota dealership on April 28. 2016 for the second time, drove it on the weekend about 64 miles round trip the airbag light came on and off to and from my trip. My car has approx. 103,900 miles but the problem started before that mileage and Toyota did not say it was due to how many miles the car had been driven.
Toyota has issued a recall for the supplemental restraint system and electronic control unit in March 2015. My car's airbag light is illuminated intermittently and the Toyota dealer recommends the ecu be replaced. I have been in contact with Toyota and my call has been escalated several times but they still are not fixing my car. Toyota says that there is no remedy available. I am very concerned about my airbags deploying accidentally. I do not feel that Toyota is taking my safety or my family's safety seriously. The recall I received clearly states that they know how to fix the problem "replacement of the srs ecu is now also required for this safety recall to be complete," it just seems that they won't. It has been almost a year that I have been driving a car in which I am not confident. Please make Toyota execute this recall in a more timely manner.
Takata recall - I received a recall notice approximately a year ago and have called my dealer and Toyota. They inform me that parts are not available. The airbag light has come on and off several times, but hasn't stayed on. I am concerned about driving the vehicle and having an accident and/or injury due to this problem. I was driving the vehicle on the interstate at the time. This recall concerns the supplemental restraint system electronic control module.
"takata recall" I was notified in January 2015 of additional recall by Toyota. The eog work was done previously. Now the airbag light intermittently goes on and off when traveling with a front seat passenger only. The light does not go on when driven by just the driver and no front passenger. My wife will no longer ride in the vehicle out of fear of air bag deploying. Have heard nothing from Toyota instructing us to bring vehicle to dealer for recall work. The January 2015 notice of recall stated we would be contacted when the parts to fix airbag issue would be available. My mechanic could not find evidence of problems when he checked error codes on vehicle, however the airbag light goes on and off intermittently when traveling with a front seat passenger. We would like the issue addressed promptly by Toyota.
2004 Toyota Avalon. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to complete electronic control unit/ supplemental restraint system recall notice. The consumer stated the air bag light being on, was a constant reminder there was a problem, as it remained lit most of the time. The odometer light appears to be a part of the same clusters of indicators and buzzers. The light has not worked for two years. The problem with the air bag has been identified as the electronic control unit for the supplemental restraint system.
My Avalon is part of NHTSA recall campaign 15v043 -- the second recall campaign because the first was a total failure. The second recall remedy is apparently "in process" -- where it has been since my vehicle first failed in 2011. The airbag light continues to intermittently activate while driving, suggesting that the airbag may not inflate in a crash. Why is NHTSA such a spineless weakling? NHTSA, fulfill your mandate to protect my family! you are the government agency. Therefore, stop pandering to Toyota and force a remedy now. Perhaps Toyota doesn't have the engineering resources to resolve this problem in four years time?.
Rec'd both notifications last year, but this exceeds reasonable amount of time waiting for a fix. One day last spring (2015) I had just started the car while in my driveway. The airbag indicator lite stayed on longer than usual. Also, my seat belt tightened up on me by itself while driving in town. I also smelled hot wires another time. I called Toyota several times and was told the part is unavailable, though I explained my issues. I requested the airbag be disconnected which they refused to do. I called Toyota again on 2/22/16. They said the part is in, but the manager of the dealership (Toyota) states they won't replace it in my vehicle unless the airbag light is on. Does that mean I will have fair warning? does that mean I will have to drive a dangerous vehicle about 50+ miles to the nearest dealer to have it fixed at that time? this is nuts! I am angry! I will be calling the federal trade commission next, which traffic safety referred me to. I still owe $4,400 on my car and will be unable to trade it in without the recall being completed.

I had gone to walker auto group located at 8457 springboro pike, miamisburg, OH 45342-4503 both on 2/2/2015 and again on 4/7/2015 to perform the e0g recall repair on the sir sub harness. Both times they advised they did not have to part and would contact me when it was in. It is now 3/12/2016 and no call or contact in regards to this recall repair. My air bag light continues to flash and per the notification I had received to get this addressed it advised to file a complaint if I thought this matter had not been addressed in a timely fashion. Airbag lights blink. Brought the car in to two Toyota dealers and they said that there is a recall on this item however they do not have the parts to fix the problem. Car was in shop for over a week till I finally got tired of the stalling tactic. It appears that Toyota is not complying with their agreement to fix the problem. In a different dealership they said they do have the parts but have no available appointments for quite some time. Am getting very concerned that this dangerous situation is not being handled properly and responsibly.
The air bag warning indicator of my car lights up on a regular basis. The vehicle owner's manual states clearly that if this happens, the vehicle must be taken to a Toyota dealer for service. I took the vehicle to a local Toyota dealer, and the service representative informed me that they could solve that problem by replacing the air bag control module, or by changing the cable that connects the module to the accompanying air bag devices. Because the service department didn't have a replacement control module available, they replaced only the connecting cable. After the visit to the dealer, the air bag warning indicator didn't light. However, a few weeks later, the warning indicator began lighting occasionally, and as time passed, the indicator again began lighting regularly. When I called the Toyota dealer to report this condition, the dealer told me to call Toyota directly for more information. The representative at Toyota said that they had issues a recall notice, but a solution to the problem wasn't available, and they would notify me when it became available. In the meantime, I continue to see the air bag warning indicator lamp lighting almost all the time. I am very concerned that Toyota is attempting to avoid the cost of replacing the defective air bag control modules, and instead trying to find a less expensive alternative. I find this behavior dangerous on the part of Toyota and want them to own up to the issue and provide a timely solution to this dangerous situation.
The airbag light intermittently goes on and off.

I took my car to herrin-gear Toyota scion on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 6100 I-55 north in jackson, ms to fix the recall notice for the supplemental restraint system (srs) electronic control module replaced. On the drive home I noticed the airbag light coming on and off so I took it back to the them on Friday, November 14, 2014. I was told by laura faulkner, advisor in the service department, that the part they had put on Wednesday was defective and they would have to order it and it would be a week or two before the part came in. So, in the meantime, I am still driving my car with the airbag issue still not repaired and I don't know definitely when it will be fixed.
My dashboard is melting and peeling. I am previous owner of a Toyota that I owned for 16 years and never experienced this issue. Also my airbag light is coming on.

I took my car to haley Toyota on hull street in richmond virginia for the air bag recall. . . . They so call fixed the air bag issue and then said when they put the car back together the airbag light stays on and they dont know where it was coming from. After some research they said that it was the wiring harness that was the problem. My air bag light was never on prior to me bringing them my car. They are trying to charge me $1400. 00 for repairs. The recall was for the air bag and if the light stays on then they need to fix it. I contacted Toyota corporate office and they said the only thing they can do is to offer me $500. 00 toward the repair but I would have to pay up front and send in the documentation and then I would only be reimbursed the $500. I dont feel like I should have to pay them anything because I feel like the mechanic did something for the air bag light to stay on. He said that maybe some wires got crossed or connectors got moist and try to put it on me. I brought the car from that dealership and havent done anything to the car since I got it but keep up the maintenance. The recall is for the air bag and if the air bag light continues to stay on they need to fix it. They have had my car for two weeks now. I need help getting this resolved.
