1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2017

Excessive engine oil use. Oil blows out of the tail pipe. The buildup for oil residue at the tail pipe makes me very concerned about the possibility of a fire. Went through the local dealer was told there was no problem or oil use. Had the local mechanic look at it and he found excessive oil consumption. Now here we are with a defective engine and a complete lack of trust in the car either mechanically or for safety. Sincerely david cam smith.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

Unit jerks and stalls, burns oil . Some times white smoke comes from the tail pipe . Oil has to be replaced constantly after oil change , recommended weight 5w20w is used. I have had to replace burned spark plugs. This is a problem and needs to be on a recall list.

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

Vehicle was purchased new and has performed well to this point but the other day the oil pressure light flashed a couple times. A check showed the level completely off the stick and took 2. 5 quarts to fill. Engine oil had just been changed 2500 miles previous to this. Since filling to the mark, it has used an additional . 5 quarts in the last 500 miles. Car is garaged when not being driven and does not appear to be leaking (no spots on garage floor). Some soot in tail pipe but is not smoking. I have owned ~9 different cars and never had one use oil like this. Information on Toyota's web site indicates this is normal. Vehicle should be recalled with defective engine.

5 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

@79k miles, oil light came on. Added 1. 5 qts of oil. Took car in for 80k service (all service up to date). Told dealer of low oil problem. Dealer advised 05/31/2011 driveability; customer states that oil light came on dash about 500 miles ago added 1 quart of oil saw a cloud of smoke from exhaust . . Note advised customer that tech did find oil low performed oil change and marked dip stick added dye to oil advised customer to return with in 500 miles to see if any dye residue coming from tail pipe e. Returned car to dealer @ about 700 miles and dealer advised 06/30/2011 engine minor. Customer states that engine was burning oil we topped off oil and added dye check and advise, as pertom sinica that as per Toyota spec is every car is allowed to use 1qt of oil in 1200 miles. I called Toyota customer service and was given a case #, Toyota sent case back to dealer, dealer called me to tell me they can't do anything because car is running within specs. Toyota in my opinion is hiding behind their 2007 Camry owners manual in which they told me to check. I read the oil consumption page (pg 291) of the manual and it also states" a new engine consumes more oil, since its pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls have not become conditioned". To me that says there is a problem because I am burning more oil as the car gets older. I own another Toyota (2010). Just traded in a 2002 Camry with 203,000 miles (never had to add a drop of oil) and owned a 1986 Toyota supra died @ 246k miles never added a drop of oil. One other thing the 2007 Camry is under extended warranty not that it helps this problem. I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me again.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2011

My vehicle is consuming oil in extreme quantities, a quart every 800-1000 miles. The problem is manufacturers defective pistons and piston rings and Toyota knows about it but denies to take action. I have to fill my engine with the oil every 2800 miles or so or take it to the dealership for oil change. My engine, I'm afraid will defect in driving causing harm to me and others around me because I don't follow my mileage and only way I know there is a problem my oil light flashes on and off when I'm braking that's the sign that I have to get oil change. Now its not environmental either even though Toyota claims that environmental protection is coming out their ears all the time when that much oil is burned into the air and funny thing is it doesn't even smoke in tail pipe and vehicle passes every emission test. How??? I don't know. All I know is that my engine is not working properly due to no fault of my own and due to manufacturer defaulted parts because I was told by service guy that other year Toyotas have different pistons and piston rings and I assume it would be right for our cars to receive those because we paid full amount for these cars and we shouldn't receive short end of the stick. I ask you to push this for a recall because Toyota owns this to its owners. Thank you.

7 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving 35 mph, the variable valve timing oil supply hose ruptured. As a result, engine oil sprayed all over the exhaust system, engine, and down into the tail pipes. Both front wheel wells began to smoke. Upon further investigation, the contact found large puddles of engine oil. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that it would take over five weeks to obtain the part (hose) needed to make the repairs due to a national back order. The current and failure mileages were less than 69,000.
