36 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

I initially began noticing that when the ac does not blow cold air when turned on that all of the gauges on my dashboard stop working including, speedometer dropping to 0 while I am driving so that I do not know at what speed I am driving, my gas gauge inexplicably drops to empty, lights on the dashboard stop working and my dashboard goes dark, rpm gauge flickers wildly, brake & abs lights do not go off, and occasionally the car stops but with hesitation when braking, along with interior fogging of all windows when it rains (sometimes defroster/fans work to defog windows but sometimes it does not causing my visibility while driving to be substantially and dangerously reduced). During some online research, I believed that the issues might be related to an earlier recall so I called the Toyota corporate office and they indicated that it may be related but to take the car to my local Toyota dealership to confirm. I took the car to Toyota of hollywood and the manager stated that it was not related to the recall and that the main computer was malfunctioning and causing the subcomputers to also malfunction and estimated a repair price of $2500. While I was doing my online research, it appears that many 2007 Camrys are having the same exact issues I am having and in addition, the Toyota Camry hybrids had been recalled for the same issues as well. I do not believe I should incur the expense of repairs for issues that seem to be related to a manufacturers defect.

37 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/07/2012

I bought this car new and have had nothing but trouble since leaving the lot. Biggest issue being in April 2012 began having issues with car burning/loosing oil. Car would loose 1 quart or more with in 200 miles. Have taken it to mechanicsville Toyota on different occasions and had a oil consumption test done only to be told I need to replace the motor and it is not covered under warranty not only due to mileage but not being a loyal customer and not having my service work done there. My husband is a mechanic and has done all the service work by the book. My issues happen at various speeds where the car will jerk, shake, accelerate and decelerate while the abs light, traction control light comes on and the check engine light comes on and will blink well over 20 times before staying lit. I had to drive around with a case of oil in my car never knowing when I would need to add. I have had to borrow a car from my family as I no longer feel safe driving this one. It can at any given moment leave me or just stall while driving. I have kept detailed notes from going back and forth to the dealer. As you can see by the other complaints this is a know problem with Toyota with the piston rings/seals, etc. Even though I know my ar is no longer covered under warranty, I feel Toyota being such a well known company and harping about safety should step up and do something with or without government assistance, and do something about this. I know I will never buy another Toyota vehicle as they do not stand behind them.

38 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2004 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/22/2010

My 2004 Toyota Camry has started to "hold back" when I drive it. Then the abs light came on and started flashing and when I stepped on the brakes, the flashing light went off. I called the lancaster PA Toyota dealer and the service department said that as long as it is intermittent and not constant, it is nothing to worry about. But I wonder how many other Toyota customers have had problems with their anti-lock braking systems.

40 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2003 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/08/2007

Brake-abs-vsc-trac off lights in my dash have been coming on for the last couple weeks with increasing frequency. First just once, then a week later every couple days, finally 3 times in one morning. When I took it to my personal mechanic, they said there were no codes. Then I called the dealer where purchased and someone suggested venting the gas cap. It still came on again later that day, and I took it to the dealer with the lights illuminated. I have been told my brake, abs/vsc and trac off lights have been coming on in my 2003 Camry lev6 because the vsc computer needs replacing for almost $1,800. On a car with only 25k miles that is absurd and I refused!! the dealer consultant even said that was odd. There is obviously a defect for this to go bad. I have read on-line forums where many truck and SUV owners are experiencing this same problem. I feel that this is a safety concern and a problem Toyota is responsible for. I am not about to spend this much money on a problem that should not have occurred in the first place. Some owners say they have been told that various sensors could be at fault and not the whole computer. One owner said he found it was a bad brake pad! I think the sensors should be checked for replacement. Whether it is the sensors or the computer, it is a factory defect, and Toyota should pay for it.

43 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2004 Toyota Camry

44 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2001 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/07/2003

The brakes on Toyota Camry le models are not functioning properly. In each of three different Camry cars that I have owned (1996,2000, and 2001) the brakes make a rumbling sound when slowing down from a speed over 50 miles an hour. Furthermore, on my 2001 Camry the abs light came on during use on icy roads, I took it to the dealer who said that this happens and that he had five other complaints about the very same thing that day. He attributed this to one of the sensors "sticking", and that all I had to do is turn the car off and let it "cool " down and the light would go off. This is true, this did happen, but what good are abs brakes if they malfunction on the very icy roads that they are supposed to protect you from? it seems to me that if a sensor is "sticking" the sensor should be replaced and that the car should not have to be allowed to "cool down" especially since this happened in the middle of a parkway on icy road conditions. Also, during the time the abs light was on one of the wheels brakes locked preventing the wheel from spinning further causing a more dangerous situation.
