With 11,000 miles on vehicle there was a rubbing noise coming from vehicle when brake system was activated. Dealership serviced vehicle under a service bulletin. Then, at approximately 50,000 miles on August 23, 2001 front brake pads and rotors had to be replaced by dealership due to a rubbing noise during brake application. Also at 54,000 miles on January 22, 2002 rear brake drums failed,and had to be replaced. Please provide any additional information / documentation.

Tires wobble/vibrate 70-75mph being the worst. Multiple trips to dealer. 6 tires replaced. Multiple time balancing tires. Latest result - per dealer "we can't fix because it happens with speeds over 65mph and Toyota will not authorize repairs on issues occuring over 65 mph. Also, brakes make bad grinding noise and squeeks forward/reverse - advised it is becuase of the material of the pads. Pads changed once and have anti-lock brakes, but have left long skid mark with one tire and car pull to the side.

Excessive wear of brake pads and rotors, replacement/ rotors tune are needed every 8,000 miles; dealer notified.

Front brakes and rotors make vibration noise. Yh.

Front end makes a terrible grinding noise upon applying brakes at relatively low speeds.

Ever since I purchased this car in 1997 the front disc brakes have made a groaning sound and slipped during hard braking. I took the car in at 20,000 miles and was told that this was an inherent problem with the brakes on these vehicles and nothing could be done about it. I just checked with the dealer to have a brake job (at 34,500 miles) and was told that this problem was widespread with these vehicles. Apparently the metallic disc brake pads just do this. . While braking vehicle makes a grinding noise, and there is extended stopping distance which may cause an accident. Also, dealer replaced brake pads and rotated the rotors, but problem still exists. Please provide further information and VIN#.

Upon turning ignition vehicle makes loud noise. While driving brakes make a grinding noise, took vehicle to dealer several times. When trying to stop vehicle has to press pedal completely to the floor. Please provide any further information.

The rear disc brakes cut grooves into rotors on both sides. The brakes wobble and pulsate.

Since buying my Toyota in April of 1998, I have needed to replace the brakes and rotors 3 times. I still continue to have screeching and grinding noises. I have been told by Toyota dealerships that this noise has been a noted problem. I find this to be unacceptable for a "new" car, I bought a new car to avoid making repairs and I have made more on this Toyota and its bad breaks than I would have spent on keeping my used rodeo. I mean with regular mainantence check, oil change, car payments, $200 brake jobs every 8 to 12 months, this is ridiculous. I have also had problems with clunking noises coming from my front suspension, especially if I go over a rough road. For a company that has a reputation for superior cars, this has been a disappointing first buy as I find the car to have a very, very poor braking system and suspension. From reading your technical bulletins, there has been 90 reported complaints on the brakes and 31 reported complaints on the suspension. How many more complaints need to be filed before a recall on these brakes are done?.

Brakes are inadequate and unsafe. If brakes are applied at high speed the discs warp so the brakes pulsate and lose stopping ability. This is especially dangerous in mountain driving or when brakes are needed for a quick strop on high speed interstate highways.

When applying brakes there's a pulsating feeling in vehicle, it feels like brakes are going to release. Dealer has been contacted.

Running on 3rd pair of front brake pads & 2nd front rotors @ 29k mi. Groaning noise when braking from high speeds app. 50+ mph regardless of pressure on brake pedal.

When brake pedal was applied brakes began to make a loud squeaking noise, and vibrate. Brakes are always very low. Dealer has been contacted.

When applying the brakes the pedal went most of the way down and there was a thumping sound. Dealer has replaced the pads and the rotors. Has been to dealer 5 times.

Brake problems; when applying the brakes there is a grinding noise. The rotors and the pads have been replaced twice since purchasing vehicle in June of 1997. The pads and rotors are being replaced a 3rd time by dealer.

The brakes are making grinding noise. They have been changed once by the dealership at 13000 miles, and then at 27000 miles they were again changed by sears. But the brakes are getting worn out easily and the grinding sound will not stop. The left and right seat belts have both failed at 20000 and 27000. They get stuck and wont come in or out. They have been changed by the dealer.

The brake light stayed on repeatedly before I had driven 10,000 miles. The first time, Toyota replaced the pads and turned the rotors at no charge. 7,000 miles later, the brake light came on again, and Toyota told me that it was due to "regular wear and tear. " I had to replace the pads and rotors to the tune of $278. 00. In visiting your site, I see that other drivers of the 2000 Camry's are having the same problem with their brakes. I have owned approximately seven Toyotas in my lifetime and never once had a problem with the brakes that seemed unusual. I have been driving for 30 years, and to be told that this is "regular wear and tear" strikes me as odd. Due to this one problem, I have decided to never own another Toyota. If Toyota doesn't stand behind their products, why should I?.

Brake pads/ rotors and calipers are prematurely wearing out, causing poor braking ability. Brake pads have been replaced four times. Please give any further details.
