My vehicle is a Camry station wagon. On the above date, I was backing my car in my driveway & the brake pedal went to the floor. . Using my floor jack, I climbed under it & discovered that the steel brake lines had ruptured due to rust in 2 locations- one beneath a bracket near the firewall, and another at the rear of the wagon near where the vehicle height "solenoid" is located. Subsequently, I discovered at least 3 more Camrys of 1995 or 1995 vintage(including one wagon) for sale on washington d. C. Craigslist with rusted out brake lines. My sense is that thee cars are so old buy yet so reliable that peoplle are still driving them & someone is going to get killed in one, unless someone initiates an investigation. I still Ave the vehicle in my yard in fairfax station va & if an investigator wants to inspect it, I can jack it up for them. . I can be reached at (703) 298-1365.
Car was being driven in the city of chicago at a slow speed. . . Brakes went to the floor. . . Avoided hitting another car and pedestrian and then hit a tree near a home. Car was towed by aaa to a aaa service shop. . . . Marathon- western/toughy who inspected the vehicle and determined both brake lines failed. . . Rusted through and they see this condition alot with Toyota's of this age as the brake lines are covered up by a plate that traps salt and moisture. Toyota claims contacted and denied any design fault of material defect. . Even though it has stainless steel brake lines that this mechanice and shop constantly sees do this exact corrosion problem. I have owned eight Toyotas. . . Never experienced even a brake leak but a full catastrophic failure in this 1999 model is ridiculous and Toyota is walking away from any responsibility on their part. Ntsb should be recall all 1999's solora and Camry's . . . Force Toyota to pay for repairs before more of these accidnets occur. . .

Brakes went to floor when depressed. . . Had to run car into curb and into tree before a car was hit in front of vehicle or parked cars. Mechanic noted both brake lines were rusted through causing complete catastrophic failure which apparently happens alot on this age of Toyota because of deisgn of covering brake lines trapping in salt and moisture leading to failure. Result of accident was to replace both brake lines from to back and body work to repair vehicle so it was drivable.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving at 30 mph, the contact stated that it was very difficult to get the vehicle to come to a complete stop. She had to re-adjust her seat to be able to engage the brakes. The contact inspected under the hood and noticed that a bolt had dislodged from the engine mount and had punctured two of the brake lines. The vehicle was at the dealership at the time of the complaint where the brake lines were being replaced. The current and failure mileages were 53,035.

I work in the maintenance department at curtis-maruyasu in lebanon,ky. We make fuel and brake lines for Toyota. When the Toyota plant in indiana(Subaru plant) complained of brake lines leaking, our boss told us to deny knowing about any problem if asked by Toyota representatives that would visit to investigate, even though we knew of problems for several months prior to being informed by Toyota about problems with 2 benders that shape the brake lines. There have also been follow up visits because the problem was not resolved. I am just now reporting this because I do not want to lose my job, but my conscience tells me that I need to report this. I hope this is the right place to do it.

I have had over 20 braking incidents with my 2005 Toyota Camry. All between the speeds of 10 to 40 mph. Everytime I go to apply the brake, the car will accelerate, and feels like the brakes aren't catching or something. Especially when on a poorly paved road. I have now been involved in 2 separate rear-end collisions where I could not stop and ended ramming the vehicle in front of me. A third time I was able to swerve, and clipped a metal sign. I bought the car as a Toyota certified pre-owned with 29 k miles on it, in October 2006. I began encountering this braking problem after only having the car a week. The dealer said there was nothing wrong. So I bought all new brake pads even though the others were practically new. Didn't help. Had the brake lines bled again, and the rotors resurfaced. Didn't help. I feel there is something seriously wrong with these vehicles, and someone is going to get hurt. This braking problem has already cost me over 2,000 in repairs and property damage. Yet still I make my $450 a month payment, with no word from Toyota on what they are going to do to fix the problem.
