Brakes continue to fail intermittently even though a brake kit was installed at 4,000 miles. New master cylinder was installed as well. At times brakes go all the way to the floor and car does not stop. Suddenly loud noise happens and car jerks and stops. All struts have been replaced and solved crunching noises. Relay switch installed to solve lock problem. Car is falling apart before my eyes!!.
Brake system failed on two occasions due to failure of the (1st failure) abs valve and (2nd failure) master cylinder leakage. The systems are designed to engage if one unit fails, then other will engage, which did not happen. Mjs.
Consumer has to take vehicle into dealership for brakes every three to four months. There was a grinding noise at this point. Dealer is aware of the problem, brake pads have been replaced several times due to premature wear, master cylinder was out of adjustment, rotors were replaced. Vehicle stalled due to water pump failure the water pump came apart and broke the timing belt.
I began complaining about brake problems within days of leasing the car. I kept being told that the grinding noises were normal for Toyota. Finally at 11,000 miles they examined the brakes and discovered they had ground down into the rotors. They said that the brakes were my responsibility and I must pay. I protested, with no success. I took the car to an independant and had it repaired for half the money Toyota wanted. Between then and now I have had my brakes fail 4 more times. Twice the rotors have been replaced and the rear drums once, all through Toyota. The last time, after being told there was nothing wrong with the car, I persisted and they discovered that the push rod in the master cylinder was not adjusted properly. The system was repaired and just 6,000 miles later the brake system is failing again. The factory rep. Showed my father that the system has overheated and scored the rotors and drums. The pads had little left on them. Toyota said the system checks out fine and it's my problem. 5 brake jobs in 30,000 miles, something is wrong. Please help!.

When applying the brakes the pedal goes to the floor, and has to be repumped in order to stop the vehicle. Also, dealer replaced the master cylinder.
Brake pedal goes down low close to the gas pedal by itself. When master cylinder fluid is added the pedal returns to its correct position. Dealership replaced the master cylinder, but the problem recurs.

The brakes make a "plink" sound, like a ukelele string being plucked, when the brakes are applied. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor if constant pressure is applied. The dealer replaced the brake power assist, the master cylinder, bled the brake lines, and adjusted the linkage but the problem remains. I have a second 2002 Toyota Camry, VIN jtdbe32k820114305, that I bought at the same time which has the same problem. The VIN's are within 1,200 numbers of each other.
