The day was partly cloudy. The location was maryland. The vehicle was a new 2020 Toyota Camry se 4door. While driving with my sunroof exterior flat glass and interior door assembly both completely closed, my daughter and I suddenly heard a boom explosion. While driving trying to safely exit, huge black chunks were flying behind us, that was later identified as broken sunroof glass flying behind us hitting the vehicles traveling behind us. We pulled over and got out of the car. We discovered that my vehicle's sunroof had exploded. Instead of the remaining broken sunroof glass edges exhibiting a concave downward appearance, the remaining shattered glass exhibited a convex outward appearance indicating an explosion had occurred. Took the vehicle to a local maryland Toyota dealer for help and was told because the vehicle wasn't purchased from their dealership they couldn't help me. Hence the oem glass replacement costs were covered by my auto insurance, with a $500 deductible. A few days later after I returning home, the new oem glass and sunroof assembly began to screech and crackled as if it was coming apart. The Toyota dealership where I purchased my vehicle renigged on their promise to make my sunroof assembly new again at no costs since the vehicle was still under warranty. Now I deal with a crackling and squeaking sunroof assembly that makes me fearful of the sunroof exploding again. Note: the purchasing dealership failed to comply with my auto sunroof glass and assembly that was still under warranty and refund my auto insurer and me as they had promised. Had difficulty uploading photos (5).

Sun roof frame flexing or cracking noise.
I had been driving my car on the turnpike for about 3. 5 s when smoke started coming out of the area against the windshield where the rear view mirror is attached inside of the vehicle. A fire then spontaneously started. I pulled over and put out the fire by throwing water onto the area from a bottle of water I had in my car causing my windshield to crack. As a result of the fire my anti-collision system and other systems(automatic headlights) no longer work. I contacted Toyota to notify them of the issue. They sent an inspector to meet me at a dealership and told me that is was due to my windshield being replaced 18 months prior by safelite and I didn't use Toyota windshield (letter attached). Toyota returned my car and the area still heated up and smoked. I took it upon myself to remove the housing behind the rear view mirror and found that the metal camera was over heating and causing the plastic housing to melt (pictures attached). I unplugged the camera and the safety issue is resolved. However, that camera controls the anti-collision system and my automatic headlights.

When one starts the car by pushing the start bottom, the car will start to shake and soon a very load cracking and rattling noise will began coming from the engine. Engine light will come on while driving in the city and then turns off causing the driver to be aware of some issue. Once the concerning noise goes away the car continues to shake but eventually stops after a while. This could make the car to stall and causing a potential crash. The vehicle left blind side detector does not respond 100%, it only works about 60% of the time. This causes the driver to think he/she are clear to turn to the left lane in the city and highway and it can cause the driver to hit another car and potentially crashing. The screen panel glitches from time to time while driving in the highway causing the driver to not be able to see and locate radio stations or manipulate the panel.
The navigation screen crack with unknown cause. The cracks are in different spot on the navigation screen, but mostly, they crack from function button and spread up. It happened 6 months after I bought the car.
Dashboard is starting to melt, crack, chip and become gooey. I have been to the dealership 3 times and on the phone with Toyota customer service 2 times, and they both keep redirecting me to each other. I have expressed concerns about the integrity of the airbags since the dashboard is melting. Toyota is aware of the situation and is refusing to assist in any way. Apparently, there was a recall that has since expired, however I was never notified. This causes great concern for myself and others since this is a known factory defect that Toyota is not addressing with ease or honesty. A melting dashboard is a great safety concern that could have grave consequences.

So in my 2007 Toyota Camry my windshield that had no chips and was in perfect condition. And parked in a parking lot. I was sitting in my car about to get out when I watched the windshield crack by itself independently nothing hitting it no chips or imperfections to make it crack no sounds nothing it started on the passenger side in a spiderweb fashion and cracked all the way across my windshield and keeps continuing to spiderweb across the entire windshild there was no chips initially nothing hit it no pressure after talking to several professionals they also can not see a reason for the cracked windshield states it looks like it cracked from the center out. I researched and found I'm not the only person this has happened to on this make and model car.

Dashboard is sticky and cracked in multiple places much like that on the sienna when it had a problem. It is our son's car that we drove for the first time in a while so we do not know the date the problem started.
The problem started in my vehicle last summer, but I didn't know about ther extended warranty. The date I entered was the date I contacted Toyota as I found information about this problem on the internet. I bought my vehicle used and went to the local Toyota dealer asking if there were any problems I should know about, as I needed an extra key made and I inquired why I was there. I was told no problems, no recalls. I noticed the dashboard getting sticky the summer of 2017, but thought it was caused by the cleaner I used on the dashboard. This summer was even hotter and the finish on the dashboard began peeling, cracking, becoming shiney, and very very sticky to touch. So I did a google search. I typed in "how to clean a sticky dashboard" and guess what popped up, Toyota Camry's problems with a defective dashboard. They didn't recall it even though it covered several years, instead they extended the warranty. I bought my car used. I check with a local dealer, and I was told no issues. I called Toyota today, and, I'm sol as the warranty has expired as of 11/2017. If I had known I could have gotten it replaced. I would also like to mention the defective visors, which I replaced at my cost as the extended warranty had expired. The fall down w/o warning and could have caused a crash. Lets not forget the oil burning issue. This vehicle is from 2005-2011 is riddled with problems and Toyota is leaving those of us who purchase used vehicles out in the cold. I'll never buy a Toyota again if this is the customer service they provide to customers.
Driving on interstate 77 south, just north of boilvar, OH, 70 mph, heard loud explosion. Thought it was a tire. Checked to find it was my moon roof. It shattered to pieces. The hole was the size of a basketball, with remaining glass cracked to the point it crumbled to the touch. No other cars, trucks, or foreign objects were near me. The glass simply exploded. There was no overpass nearby, both sides of road were woods and I was in a rural area. I bought the car new and I'm the only owner. I will contact local Toyota dealer and have it repaired as I use my car daily. Date of incident 8/26/18, time about 8:40 a. M. No injuries, other than monetary. The interior slide cover, under moon roof was closed. Moon roof was closed. No police report filed. I covered the area with plastic and duct tape while on the road. When I arrived home, I removed the distressed glass, swept the area, and will see Toyota and glass repair facility tomorrow (Monday 8/27/18).
2009 Camry hybrid melting dashboard. This is a safety issue as one can't see incoming traffic or pedestrians when driving into the sun. I have been in few close call incidents where I couldn't see pedestrians or traffic infront of me. Please recall this problem with the melting/cracking dashboard.
Dashboards can become cracked and/or sticky/melted over time. Toyota issued a warranty enhancement notification on this issue which expired January 2, 2018. My 2008 Camry did not experience this problem until may 2018. This is a huge safety hazard as the sticky/melted dash acts as a mirror reflecting any light into the drivers face. It is especially hazardous in night driving when street lights and headlights glare into the drivers face reducing visibility considerably. If there are both street lights and oncoming headlights there is no visibility. It acts like a mirror on the dashboard. This should be a recall, not just a warranty enhancement.
Vehicle dashboard is melting amd cracking. I am extremely concerned about the melting because the dashboard is now extremely shiny amd the reflection makes visibility limited, especially when the sun is directly hitting it. I also fear that the cracks have possibly damaged the airbag itself, meaning if it were to ever deploy will it deploy correctly. This started years ago, and after some research I found where a recall was issued. However Toyota never notified me, they mail the corresponding information to the previous owner. This was verified when I called Toyota directly. They wouldn't take ownership of the mistake or the safety issue and advised me they won't fix it because the recall is expired. I'm confused how a safety recall can expire when real drivers, like myself, are still having these issues because many of these cars are still on the road. My car is a 2009 Toyota Camry se with only 120k miles. Still alot of life left, so they should be held accountable amd fix these safety issues for consumers.
I was driving down the interstate on a rainy, cool day when I heard a loud explosion. Thinking it was a gunshot, I liked around the vehicle to make sure passenger was ok. I heard a windy sound and opened the sunroof cover panel to see that my entire sunroof is cracked to pieces. I rushed home and once exiting the car, I notice the glass on the sunroof looks to have exploded outwards. It is completely destroyed with no signs of impact or damage caused by driving. It was completely exploded from the inside out.
Sticky dash notification or lack thereof, I called Toyota today to ask about this problem, since the car is 3 months out of the secondary warranty I'm screwed and stuck with a sticky, stinking (costly -$1600) mess. I've tried cleaning in with numerous products safe for the material to no avail, thinking it was something on it. I decided today to google and see if I could find a cleaner/resolution to my problem. I work long hours and honestly didn't think it could be a defective dash. The dash has even started to crack. I live in hot, humid alabama and picking dead flies etc from the sticky mess isn't an easy or enjoyable job. I think Toyota should replace this dash immediately, this car is finally paid for and now this . . . Arghhh what a pain !.
Fuel tank has a crack in the seam on the top of the tank which is right underneath the back seat. Entire fuel has to be replaced at a cost of $1319. It must be replaced for safety reasons. The cause is faulty manufacturing as this car has never been in an accident. If we had been in an accident it could have resulted in an explosion endangering my children who sit in the back seat. The mechanic said that it has to be a faulty tank due to the crack being in the seam.

The dashboard is cracked, shiny and sticky, seriously affecting viability. I am not the first owner of the vehicle.
The dash began to have small cracking a few years ago but I didn't think much of it but just this month the cracks enlarged and spread. I looked on line to see if others were having a problem and many people had. I phoned Toyota 800-331-4331 and described the problem. They told me that they had a recall program but it expired may 31 2017 and they can't do anything about it now. They said they sent me a letter via us mail but I told them I never received it nor was I aware of their recall program. She also said if my dealership had noticed it they could have told me about it. I had my car in the dealership 12/2017 and they never mentioned anything about a recall program. I get my oil changed somewhere else closer to home and didn't have my car in to the dealer since 12/2017 so the Toyota support person told me there is nothing they have to do for me now. I feel Toyota never notified me about this recall program and would like them to fix or replace my dash board.

I was travel on the belt around richmond (295) headed south at approx. 70 mph and the back window was slightly cracked open. There was an explosion like sound going off and then I noticed that there was a hole in my sun roof. This occurred on 19 oct 2017 @ 1800hrs. I looked for a rock or any other object that could have caused it and nothing was found.

When driving over medium sized bumps in the driveway, or going over railroad tracks, the frame of the car sounds like it is twisting at which point you can here a popping noise. It doesn't sound like it is coming from the suspension, but more so from the top of the c-post (rear roof). I do not feel it is a huge issue, but I feel like the body metal is bending each time. I have not brought the issue up to the dealership yet, but after reading through some of the other complaints, it doesn't sound to abnormal for something like this to happen to the Camry.
Toyota Camry sun visor assemblies(2007-2011) warranty enhancement I was driving home on the garden state highway, easter night 2017, when the sun visor om my 2011 Camry just dropped down. I couldn't get the visor to stay up and had to drive with one hand holding it up until I could pull over. Ultimately, the entire visor separated from the holder. I later learned online that there has been a warranty support program (ztt) issued by Toyota 8/1/12 on sun visor assemblies and sun visor brackets on certain Toyota 2007-2011 Camry''s. Toyota has announced a customer support program to cover of the sun visor assemblies/brackets for 7 years from date of first use regardless of mileage. Since my car is going to be six years old in August, I have contacted Toyota via email and they have responded that my car does not fall under applicable VIN ranges. Apparently this defect is not just in the cars with those applicable VIN numbers, but in far more cars. My reference # 1705082884. Having a sun visor fall down while driving (particularly at night) is dangerous, as is not having a sun visor when the sun is very bright. !.

Toyota recall for melting /cracked/sticky dashboard ze6 warranty enhancement notification. 2 years ago talked to a dealer in plano TX(Toyota plano) 1001 plano pkwy plano TX 75093 -- still no word/feed back on the replacement or changing the part in question.
I have a melting dashboard that interferes with my vision on the road. My dashboard is sticky and it's cracking and it makes the car less attractive. I contacted Toyota and they told me that there's nothing they can do because a recall already happened and it's expired which doesn't make any sense because I didn't receive any notice of a recall. Now all I ask is that there be another recall or at least repair this because there's already been times where I almost crashed due to this and one day I feel like it's going to happen if this doesn't get repaired.
My driver side sun visor has came unhinged on its own. I am able to temporarily place it back on the hook by pulling the plastic open that surrounds the brackets so it can operate as a sunvisor should. But if I go over a bump then it is likely to come unhooked and obstruct my vision by leaning while only supported by the small catch hook. This is a major safety concern. At times it completely falls into my lap as I am driving or I will get into the car and the visor will be laying on the seat. It falls off when the car is stable and in motion. It also will not close up. So if I need it closed (I. E at night) then I have to take it off. My mother has driven my car and she is shorter than me so she sits closer there the wheel. She informed me that while driving, the visor fell off and hit her on the head. Big issue! it is somewhat expensive to replace and is a manufacturer defect that they should fix. It seems the "safest" thing to do besides replace it is to not have the visor up but that it's the sole reason for having a sun visor. . . To block the sun. . . Yet it does not effectively serve it's purpose without risk. The passenger side is rarely used but will make clicking sounds in every position it is moved to so I'm sure it will break soon also. So I checked out Toyota recall/warranty and apparently only a few of the 2011 vehicles fall in the covered range although this seems to be a problem for more than those few. I would appreciate if NHTSA would investigate this issue further. This is not just a cosmetic concern. Obstructed vision is very dangerous. I fall within the make, model, and year range but not the VIN range for repair, which is crazy! any of the Toyota's with this issue that meet the basic criteria should qualify regardless of the product supplier for that VIN. Seems to be a way to spend less fixing by covering less vehicles and not considering safety.
The dash has all cracked.
The dashboard has become sticky and is cracking. It also produces a dangerous bright shiny glare on sunny florida days.
Several lug nuts have cracks in them. At least one lug nut has multiple cracks. Cracks were noted during tire rotation.

Cracked dashboard not sure if air bags will work.
I have been dealing with this sticky, cracking dashboard for 2 years now and it progressively gets worse each summer. It started out a little tacky when it had gotten hot from the summer heat and it has progressed to a sticky, gooey mess that cannot be properly cleaned. It reminds me of those old auburn colored fly strips we used to hang from the ceiling when we were kids. Cracks started appearing last summer and now several more have appeared this summer. I was not notified of a recall and I just found it online this morning while searching for a cleaning solution. I plan on owning this vehicle for at least another 5 years and I fear the dashboard will be an absolute disaster by then.
