Electrical System Problems of Toyota Camry - part 2

On multiple occasions the doors have locked or unlocked automatically while driving. This puts my children at risk not knowing if doors will stay locked while driving. The problem has not been looked at a dealer. I doubt they could reproduce it being so random and infrequent. There were not any warning lamps or messages.

Malfunction of connections to radio system. All buttons surrounding radio, including radio control buttons on steering wheel, do not function. The screen still turns on and displays the typical home screen but the screen does not function either leaving the radio system stuck on the home screen. Again , none of the buttons and/or screen functions work connected to the radio. The clock time is still displayed and will change but it is the wrong time but once again, cannot be changed because the functions surrounding the radio do not work.

The car accelerated uncontrollably for no apparent reason. I was pulling into a parking slot, preparing to put the car in park and stop the car. All of a sudden the car accelerated and slammed into a building.

My warning panel told me to take the car to dealer for reprogram, and dealer said my wiring harness for hybrid electric system had been chewed by rodents and the harness and probably batteries should be replaced now or the car might catch fire. I replaced the harness and the batteries. When I asked to see the parts, they said they had boxed and shipped. Later, a friend alerted me to a problem with soy-based coatings on wires that rodents found tasty. My friend said his kia had same problem and his insurance covered the expense . Now, I’m $5000 poorer, and Toyota hasn’t compensated me for repairs.

The radio buttons as well as buttons on steering wheel are unresponsive. In addition the front bumper corner piece near the wheel keeps popping off of the car.

Awd hybrid vehicle makes a noise at speeds under 20mph , that sounds like an electric motor or bearing - salesman said the noise is a mandated law by NHTSA ? or ? month later the maintenance tech forman took it for a test drive and said the same thing . That the noise was created (by a speaker ?) so the vehicle can be heard at low speeds / below 20 mph . I asked where the speaker is , he said he didn't know ! I asked if he could show me it on a diagnostics screen , he again refused . The noise sounds exactly like an electric motor . Mg1 , mg2 ? I can't hear the noise when backing out of a driveway or similar low speed situations ? I need to verify if this is true - is there an actual law that the vehicle has to make a noise ? and it was okayed to use a noise that sounds like the hybrid electric motor or bearing ? even if this is true the computer logic should be changed so that the sound pulses so that it is obviously a speaker and not a mechanical issue . ( like no grease ) and it should always work when it is most needed , backing up and slow driving / all the time under 20 mph . Service department should plug in a diagnostic scanner and prove to me that a speaker is making the noise . * why is this a safety issue ? because if they are lying , eventually ( when it is out of warranty ) this vehicle will break down . Are all 2025 Toyota hybrids making some kind of noise ? and if it is a noise created by a speaker - prove it are all 2025 Camrys making this same noise ? maybe they all have the same mechanical problem ? why wait till there is a crash , fire , or an accident ? as in the next section - additional details . And again if it is a legitimate noise generated for safety . At the least change the computer logic so it pulses and doesn't sound like a bad motor generator bearing . And have the maintenance techs trained to know where the speaker actually is . I don't want to share my personal information with Toyota . If they are lying.

When I purchased this vehicle there were no problems, no lights on my dash, the trim all matched and was the color blue. Then after having a falling out with some family members I started noticing problems with my hvac system. It started with antifreeze leaks then id fix it and the next week the radiator hose would be leaking again. I started really keeping track of everything about my car after that. Next I started noticing parts changed and parts missing. My vsc fuse block in the engine bay is completely missing now. Next I started noticing while driving my seat would move without me doing anything. The family member that I had a falling out with is in the hvac union also. While driving I hear some type of switch click on and a gas smell starting coming out of my vents. Also I noticed after getting an aliment done that someone had adjusted the aliment bolts over night it's very noticable. You can clearly see where someone ran new electric wires for something. I went to the police 3 the mea about the issue but no investigation. Please help.

Intermittently, when leaving from a stop the car will have just enough power to pull forward about a car length before losing all drive power. The engine revs, but behaves as if it were in neutral. This happened a couple times when making a left turn from a stop sign leaving the car in cross traffic, powerless, with cars coming from the drivers side for a second or two before it had power again. It seems to happen in hot weather. It is intermittent. The dealership could not reproduce the problem. There were no warning lamps. I could make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. The first appearance was last summer. It did not do it over the winter. It happened again yesterday. When it happens it tends to happen for a few minutes before driving normally again. It may happen at start up or after the car has been driven for some time.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the power steering, service vehicle, traction control, and abs warning lights illuminated, and the speedometer failed to display the speed. Only when it rains the forward collision warning light comes on. The last time it came on the engine light also came on with code p01280. Diagnostic at Toyota said the thermostat needs to be replaced. I decided to look into this as the thermostat should not be bad at 54500 miles. Weeks later and the neither light has come on again.

My car battery has died on me 3 times and I just got this car on [xxx]. The aaa technicians that had to come out and give me a jump stated that my battery is no good and that it is not the original Toyota battery. Also, when I try to start my vehicle with the Toyota app. It states that it cannot start because my car is driving, my car is not driving because it is parked. I took my car to frontier Toyota in valencia, CA. Where I purchased this vehicle to have it inspected, and they said that the battery test came back good, but aaa technicians says the battery is bad which I believe because my car has not started on 3 occasions and I had to get a jump. While operating my vehicle, the multi information display between the tachometer and rpm gauges flashed bold red letters brake (even though nothing was in front of us at all) then the screen went 100% black. When that happens, the majority of the safety features are obsolete because you cannot see or read what caused the beep. Also, the odometer could not be seen as well as feul eveonomy, if cruise control was engaged, what gear your engine is in if sports mode is activated (in which occurs if accidently hitting the gear switches on your steering wheel just turning it), unable to see maintenance messages, cannot control the sensor settings. . . Nothing. When I finally had enough money to even get the car diagnosed (roughly $187), the corwin Toyota dealership asked me for the mileage, and I had to tell them to tell me. They did confirm the instrument panel/cluster to be defective, however, I and my extended warranty company had to pay the bill. 53,252 miles when they serviced it. When I paid my portion, I asked lori how long will this one last and she told me, "they are suppose to last the duration of the car's life. " I replied, "um, but. . . ". On April 17th I called Toyota's customer engagement line and spoke with them about the defective part and repair. Dorian told me that with the part replaced carries a 1 year warranty. If Toyota designed essentially all the safety features, eco features, cruise control, gears to only be seen or controlled on that multi-informational display within the instrument panel/cluster, they should be required to fix it at no cost to customers for the lifetime of the car. I took video of it before I dropped it off to be serviced. , but even corwin Toyota in fargo, nd, has video footage of the mechanic's assessment.

The car first stalled ,then the it shut off ,and the car did not start. The car has almost half tank of gas. So I was doing my research on line. And saw 3 recalls and one of them was the fuel pump system for my 2018 Camry le.

The radio touchscreen does not work and the buttons on the steering wheel do not function as well. I am unable to touch the screen and the radio changes stations abruptly without me touching it. I am unable to listen to music or change the radio to bluetooth to listen to my music on my phone.

12 volt battery only charges to 50% of capacity. Dealer says it is normal.

Low oil engine warning comes of day after day, physical oil level is fine but keeps coming on after 2 oil changes dealer claims that it’s a software glitch and Toyota is aware of it. . No fix as of yet also claimed vehicle is drivable…. First came on at 20 miles.

Panoramic sunroof issues. Sunroof is stuck in the open position. Motor clicks continuously but does not close. Toyota dealership only able to close top portion of sunroof and had to disconnect the motor. Sunroof not used often so this should not have happened, and vehicle is not that old. The cost to repair is outrageous.

My 2020 Camry has been nothing but a problem and Toyota is noncompliant with helping me. The service recall for the fuel pump was fixed at vaughn Toyota in bastrop la . . A week later I still had the same issues. They refused to put another fuel pump on my car even thought the fuel pump had a one year warranty. I then took it to landers in little rock and since I had “codes” I had to pay $180 diagnostic fee. Fast forward to now, still have the same crappy fuel pump. I took it to ryburn Toyota and was told to replace the charcoal canister and vent valve . That was $1000. Problem not fixed. All my lights stay on, I often get a charging system error notification. It goes into reduced power mode. And has left me stranded numerous times on the side of the road. I want whatever is wrong with my car fixed. I have never owned a vehicle with this many problems. I thought Toyota’s were good vehicles but I promise if I ever get rid of this one, I will not purchase another Toyota vehicle again.

Just bought this car in may 2024 and a few months after owning it my check engine light came on. They said the issue is with a coolant bypass valve and the issue is common with Toyota’s like mine. There is currently no recall, warranty is fighting me to fix it and the repairs will cost me over $700! Toyota needs to recall for this issue.

Couple days ago I notice both my tailights weren’t working also my license plates lights and parking lights weren’t working and also my headlights parking light don’t work anymore they all went bad at the same time. At night time nobody can’t barely see me besides my reflectors so nobody can’t see my at night time. The only thing tht works is mine brake light turn signal and brake light.

The sunroofs have a drain which sometimes can plug up. This car was maintained several times a year since purchase by Toyota dealer. When the drain plugged up this fall, water backed up and came down inside of the passenger compartment on top of the electrical fuses, body computer. The leak is not detectable by owner or occupant. But when it manifests itself, it does so with the blind spot monitor failing randomly, the seat belt warning lights might or might not work, the airbag safety system fails, sometimes the whole instrument dash acts erractic including random on/off blinking, the tire pressure monitoring system fails. All these problems can occur before owner is ever aware of the problem. Since one of the items that is getting corrosion is a fuse block - potential fire while parked in a garage or while being drive is a possibility. In an accident failure of air bags can result in a fatality. I'm an engineer, so when things started blinking on dash - I took pictures or had another occupant take pictures. I showed them to the dealer service - they didn't make the connection with corrosion on the body computer that monitors and manages all the systems including the anti-lock and rollover system. It's in for repair at dealer now, now idea on the cost - but they've said damage is extensive and we caught it before most people encounter it. I checked and could find no Toyota service bulletin that warned to look for the problem, repair techs had vehicle for week trying to find problem - and it took me insisting on looking for corrosion before they found it. This should result 1)Toyota special service bulletin to inspect every year and verify sunroof drain not blocked. 2) read diagnostics codes of the body network computer for issues, 3)Toyota special service recall to repair damage free to customers.

Abs light flashes randomly at me when driving and at a stop car shakes aggressively.

While driving your 2025 Toyota Camry, I experienced an unintended acceleration and brake failure causing a collision to occur on October 10, 2024 with only around 7000 miles. I was ready to park my vehicle in the garage of my company with very low speed between two vehicles, then it suddenly accelerated on its own and the brakes would not stop the vehicle. My vehicle collided with a wall only around 3 feet before my vehicle. I have concern that this incident resulted from a defect with my vehicle, so I noticed Toyota's dealer and Toyota. I suspect this is a control system failure since this is a new hybrid vehicle. I have heard online that there are several accidents happened for Toyota hybrid vehicles having similar experience: new vehicles with low speed even with foot on the brake. The unintended acceleration under low speed with foot on the brake is a safety issue. However, Toyota did not think this is a vehicle defect after its around two month's investigation.

The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air conditioner compressor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The ac compressor failed right before the average life of the average ac compressor. And if you look at Toyota Camry from 2012 thru 2013, there were recalls on ac compressors, so I find it hard to believe it is a coincidence that the 2014 ac compressor failure shouldn't also have a recall just like 2012 and 2013. It sounds to me like Toyota is not being honest here.

Radio stopped working.

Battery was replaced 6 months ago due to being old, however, on sept 19,2024 the car was completely dead after 4 days of no driving. Jumped by aaa and taken to dealer. Dealer reported on sept 20 no issue with battery and no idea what could be draining th battery. Told me I don’t drive it enough even though I just came back from a high mileage vacation and drove it for over 1 hour each way four days prior and two days before that. Told me I need to run for 30 min every other day even if it is just keep it idle in garage. Prior to this battery change I had no such issue letting it sit for days and not start. There seems to be an issue with this year of Camry that is going unaddressed by Toyota and needs a remedy other than drive your car more often as well as being told to buy a maintainer/charger to keep battery charged as told by the tech. This is a widespread problem that needs to be fixed or made right by the company especially when car is under warranty.

Coolant bypass valve.

Had brake issues a year into getting vehicle went back multiple times and blackstone Toyota couldn’t fix issue still can’t and still there at dealer and now there’s airbag safety recall car has been at dealership for 4 months no resolution.

There is a transmission shudder when traveling around 30-40 mph as well as sporadically when increasing speed. Recently, there is a very hard shift/jolt when transmission is shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The issue is caused by a combination of a faulty torque converter and a software glitch in the engine control module (ecm). This is a safety hazard, and I contacted Toyota north America who told me that they can't do anything. However, to fix the problem that Toyota issued the recall themselves, Toyota dealers need to replace to the torque converter and update the ecm software. I am reaching out to the NHTSA because this is a safety hazard, and I hope you are able to help me.

My Toyota Camry se 2017 while driving on freeway, my car started to smell like something burning few minutes later the car radio and lighting started to go crazy on off flashing randomly. Going on off random screens by itself. I tried turning radio off but it wouldn't let me. When car turnkey is on without running the warning lights says check charging system. Dealer says not sure why it says that but nothing wrong I replaced a battery already bottom half radio doesn't work. Cranking sound in steering wheel prior to this about 5months replaced arm controls. Replaced axles my radio still has a issue working and my headlights keep burning out my air bag lights stay on when someone is in front seat or not in seat there for not properly working. Wheel is really loose feeling.
