When starting out, if it is necessary to accelerate quickly, my 2007 Toyota Camry practically stalls before finally picking up speed. It does not happen every time, but when it does it is unnerving, to say the least! it is quite dangerous, and I have come close to being hit several times. Now I just make sure I have an excess of space before I pull out of a side street or parking area.

Merging onto the freeway into fast-moving traffic, the car hesitated for several seconds before it downshifted and started to accelerate. On-coming cars had to brake and honked at me. That can be a dangerous situation. The car also hesitates when just slowing down to turn a corner. It takes 5 to 10 seconds for the car to accelerate.
This complaint is about my 2007 Camry Toyota v-6. After 1 month of ownership I started to notice that when I reduce my speed and started to speed up there is a hesitation in the car acceleration but the gas would still continue to flow. This caused the car to burn the extra gas to fast and the car burst forward to fast. I took the car to the dealership to adjust this gas flow problem and was told that Toyota was aware of this problem and I would have to learn to adjust to this problem. Nothing else was done. I call Toyota customer experience ctr. And made the same report. I was given a clam reference # 200610080197 and told to have a nice day. I was not told about this problem when I purchase the car, now I feel stuck.

problem 1: -- symptom: when filling up the tank and setting the gas pump handle to automatically fill the tank, (I. E. , setting the switch on the handle), cannot be done (the pump switch pops). (this problem repeated at multiple different stations over several consecutive fill-ups. ) after a diagnostic, the dealer said the canister needs to be replaced. Another gas station attendant said this was a common problem on many late model Camrys (his station is down the block from a dealer so he says he has seen a few of these), caused when the tank is overfilled and flooding gas into the canister, ruining it, and ultimately causing the fill-up problems described above. Its scheduled to be fixed tomorrow, but wondering if this is a design/product defect, that will reoccur in the future (esp after the warranty ends. )
please do not advise to not overfill the tank, for 2 reasons: 1) I live in NJ, where only station attendants are legally allowed to fill the tank, so I have little/no control over it. 2) this should not ever be a problem, in general, even if the tank is overfilled and gas gushes onto the ground. Problem 2: windshield constantly fogs up; need to use defroster in all types of weather, esp raining. I had this problem on my 84 corolla; big pain. Problem 3: somewhat jerky ride, noticed when coasting to a stop, at approx 5-15 mph, then the traffic light turns green, and start to press the gas, the car jerks and lunges; seems to me that its trying to find the right gear, then it does, and this happens. Thought the problem was me, but other drivers of my car noticed the same thing. Dealer said that the car is programmed to adjust to the driver's habits (computers!!), and may be confused when drivers change, exhibiting this problem.

As I was driving my 1999 Toyota Camry to work, the vehicle caught fire, and was totally destroyed. The fire was preceded by a loud popping sound, which was followed by the loss of brakes/power steering, etc. I struggled to steer the vehicle off the road, coasting to a stop. Meanwhile, immediately following the firecracker-like "pop," smoke began to pour into the vehicle from under the dashboard, as well as through the vents on the top of the dash. Heavy smoke also began to pour out from under the hood of the car. As I finally brought the vehicle to a stop onto the shoulder of the road, a motorist stopped and hollered to me to get out of the car immediately as, he said, there were flames visible underneath the car. I exited the vehicle immediately, and within 3-5 minutes it was totally engulfed in flames. I dialed 911 immediately, and even though the incident occurred within 1. 5 miles of the local fire station, the vehicle was totally engulfed in flames by the time the fire truck arrived. A pennsylvania state trooper arrived within 10 minutes of the onset of the episode, moments after the fire department arrived. A traffic report was filed with the state trooper.

The consumer stated on October 17, 2004, after being out of the vehicle for about 1 1/2 hours, the vehicle burned to ashes. The firemen seemed to think the problem was the air fuel flow and or electrical. Consumer just got the vehicle. It was locked so no one could have done this. The consumer heard a popping sound and a pedestrian yelled about the fire. The vehicle burnt to ashes, totaling the vehicle.
