4 Power Assist Brake problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/01/2002

Brakes(abs) are mushy and pedal travels so far down I feel it takes a longer time to stop the car. I took it back to the dealer shortly after purchase but was told this was normal with the 2002's Camry. They adjusted the brakes but it made no difference. I took other 2002 Camry's out for a test drive only to find there brakes the same. I have driven several toyato's over the years and never had brakes like the 2002 Camry. I can't afford to sell the car ao would like the problem solved as I feel this will probaly cause an accident in the future. Thanks mr. Wagner.

5 Power Assist Brake problem of the 1997 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/10/2001

There is a significant amount of "play" and "body roll" with respect to the steering components/steering wheel of the vehicle. This has existed from date of purchase. Additionally, the braking system is not as responsive as that which I have experienced in all other vehicles. The depth which the brake pedal must be depressed is much deeper and requires a greater amount of pressure, than that of any other vehicle I have driven. Finally, the headlights provide poor visibility both in the amount of light emitted and in their low mounting or angle which they sit at. Thank you for your time and efforts on my behalf. Best regards.

The brake pedal when applied would stop less than an inch from the floor board. After many attempts, dealership replaced a faulty booster, which seem to eliminate the problem.

7 Power Assist Brake problem of the 1996 Toyota Camry

While driving at 35 mph vehicle lost brake and steering power. This occurred because the timing belt jumped, and the engine seized up because of an oil jellying problem in the engine, per dealership.
