At 45000 miles a rattle over bumps and at low speed developed under the dashboard. The rattle increased until I brought it to the local Toyota dealer with 50000 miles on it . Through the process it was discovered the steering column had to be replaced at a cost of $135 diagnostic fee, $555 for labor and $757 for the steering column. The new column solved the problem. The cause of loose part or parts is inside of the column. I contacted Toyota customer service and got no satisfaction. The service tech at my dealer told me there has been other cases of steering column looseness and replacement. I believe this is a safety concern and needs to be addressed. I have all the records. I wish Toyota should step up address this problem.

The vehicle was taken to tom wood Toyota (6408 crane dr, whitestown, in 46075) where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I had the car since it had 7 miles on it. It only has 24k on it now. I have had alignment issues constantly, steering is loose and tires are wearing fast I have already had to replace all 4 before it hit 10k miles. Now they are worn again due to alignment.

I have a 2008 Camry that has steering issues. The steering wheel is loose and hard to control with severe vibration at speeds of 35mph and up. I have made several trips to the Toyota dealer and told "nothing is wrong" with the car. I have had new brakes and rotors recently as well as new tires. I can not get help from anyone with the above issue. I do not feel safe driving this car let alone putting my kids in it, however I do not have a choice. Toyota needs to do the right thing and issue a recall on the 2008 Camrys.

Ltr fwd (NY) owner of a 2010 Toyota Camry that has been service for multiple defects since purchased including braking system and gas pedal recall, reply to massapequa, NY ofc. The back seat foam was defective and had to be replaced, the passenger exterior mirror was loose, the brakes had to be pumped so they wouldn't feel mushy, the steering was loose and the dashboard lights would dim while driving and when applying the brake. The consumer contacted the dealer and informed them the lights were not working. They stated it sounded as though it was an electrical problem and she would have to leave the vehicle. The consumer also stated when she applied the brake, the vehicle would lunge forward.

I bought a 2007 Camry se v6 and have had nothing but problems with it. Transmission slips, creaking dash and windshield, a pillar airbag cover replaced 3 times, center console stack does not line up, dash is not flush next to a & b pillars (haven't seen one yet that was), knocking noise in rear strut tower (fixed after two dealer visits, they added sound insulation), driver side armrest fabric peeling off (seen at first delivery of vehicle ), radio head unit freezes up randomly (dealer cannot fix because they cannot duplicate), steering is very loose and vehicle drifts on road (safety concern, dealer stated characteristic of tire), front grill loose on right side (dealer fixed) and seat plastic rail covers broken upon delivery (dealer fixed). Vehicle also idles rough in cold weather (dealer stated bad gas). Two to three second delay in acceleration (dealer stated this is normal). Each dealer visit required me to leave the car once for ordering the part and a second time for installation. I have wasted way too much time at dealerships having my car repaired to ever consider buying another Toyota again. Over all I should have tested other cars before buying Toyota based on its reliability alone.
Steering knuckle defective on 2004 Toyota Camry. Provides a major safety issue. Problem has been going on for two weeks. Now after taking it to an official Toyota dealer repair shop, problem still not fixed. Now at least two week to a month wait on part. Was told we were number 536 on waiting list, and was told it was not a safety issue in short term, but do not believe that. Steering is loose, and a catch occurs in steering. Passenger can even feel when this occurs. Dealer has reported three exact same problems with other Camrys in the same week.
Complaint received via e-mail this car pulls to the left and steering feels loose and car drifts. Dealership is not providing any assistance. Alignment and tire balancing did not help. This is a safety issue.
