Windshield Problems of Toyota Camry - part 2

There is a haze on my windshield and interior windows. I have cleaned the windows but the haze reappears. Dealer says the problem is "vinyl out gassing per Toyota tech assistance. Dealer says problem could last from 6 months to a year and the problem can not be corrected. The haze impairs my vision especially at dusk and at night. The problem substantially impairs the use and market value of the vehicle. The "gassing" problem is also a health issue. I will not drive at night becuase of the vision problem. I rarely drive during the day and only with the convertible top down because of the "gassing" problem.

Windshield has one tiny mark that I would describe exactly the way the first complainant described it, like a tiny nail mark. The windshield is cracking by this mark. Periodically, I would hear a loud noise like a rock had hit my windshield but was not able to discern what had happened. It was a mystery because the first couple of times that I heard the noise, there were no vehicles around me that could have thrown a rock. After hearing this noise a few times, a crack started appearing at the top of the windshield on the driver's side. I have had the dealer that I purchased the vehicle new from examine it and they claim it was caused by a rock. It is possible that when it happened I had my stereo on and did not know it happened. But the startling sound that a rock does make when it hits the windshield with that much force is hard to miss.

I purchased a 2003 Toyota solara in oct. 2003. On January 17, 2004 I was driving down the highway with cars about 50 yards or more in front of mine and noticed a crack in the center of my windshield that looked like it stated at the base of the windshield. It progressively got worse until it came up about 10 inches from the base of the windshield and clear over to the drivers side of the car. I took it to my local Toyota dealership (not the dealership where I purchased the car) to look at it. The service tech. Said something must have hit it because the he saw a chip in the glass just to the right of the crack about 2-3 millimeters in diameter and about 1-2 millimeters in depth. They will not replace it at any charge to me. I know nothing hit the windshield and I feel the glass is defective and cracked due to the cold outside temperature and heat from the defroster.

I purchased a 2003 Toyota Camry in Jan. 2003 since then I have had all sorts of problems, but the one that bothers me the most is tiny pock marks all over my front windshiled. It looks as if someone took a nail and tapped little tiny nicks on the glass. I have no idea how this happened, seeing as I do not tailgate any vehicle especially truckers. The dealership is going to take a look at it but they think this is my fault some how.

There is a cracking sound coming from the bottom of the driver side windshield. The dealer check the vehicle and stated they could not duplicate the problem. The consumer filed a complaint with the manufacturer one year ago and they stated they had no record. . Noise was caused by oose molding, which is cosmetic and not safety related.

Consumer states the driver side window makes a squealing sound.

#1 - discovered wind noise from an incomplete seal in right rear quarter glass of vehicle, one month after purchase. Took vehicle into del Toyota(dealer), who said they resealed the window. Noise from said window continued, at higher speeds above 30mph. I took vehicle back into dealer one month later. This time, they said they replaced the weatherstrip around the window, that the "wind noise" had been caused by deformed weatherstrip. This was done while vehicle was under warranty, never to my satisfaction. Condition exists today, 05/29/2002!! #2 - disc brakes were serviced by jerry's Toyota in baltimore, after making a sticking noise right before the vehicle completely stopped. The dealer replaced the front pads, machined the rotors, and serviced the left front caliper after he found it sticking. This did not alleviate the problem with the brake noise, which continues today (05/29/2002) even after a second servicing! #3 - engine light came on, so I took the Toyota Camry into jerry's Toyota for servicing. They cleaned carbon deposits from injectors, throttle plate valves and piston rings; said the problem was in the #3 cylinder. This happened a second time; I took the vehicle in for servicing. I am now waiting for either a third incident at $200. To fix, or if they replace any fuel injectors, these cost $200. Ea per part!!.

When shutting passenger's side door window shattered. Glass fell inside of vehicle,cut seat, and did some damage to outside of vehicle. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated did not understand how this happened. Please add VIN.

Brakes squeak/ pull to left and warp. Also, cd player doesn't work, had 4 cds replaced/ springs in side of sun roof are broken and make noises, and regulator replaced inside of windows. Dealership is aware of problems. Consumer states that brake rotors have been turned at 9000 and 27000 miles, each time rotors are turned the brake pads have been replaced, however problem still occurs. Windshiled has a film like covering which makes it very difficult to see out of. Goodyear tire p205/65r15, dot m6urredr228 wore out prematurely.

I am a little displeased with my 1999 Toyota Camry. I bought it as a certified used car with 19,300 miles. Already, I have shelled out 450. 00 for the replacement of the rotors, disc pads, and assembly. The drivers side window had failed before, and I had them replace the whole assembly. The dash lights just failed recently, as well as one of the rear lights burned out in Nov. I logged a complaint with Toyota cust. Service center, but I still feel that this car is a lemon. What new 1999 car with 30,000 miles has had this many failures? please send me any other info that might pertain to this, or any info you hear back. Itr would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be taking my car in for major service every year!!!.

Consumer stated at times the drivers window would get stuck, the dealer could not duplicate the problem.

Specks in windshield are causing poor visibility and nd affecting consumer eyes while driving during the day. Dealer contacted. Feel free to provide any further infromation.

Windshield has tiny air pockets that cut visibility when sun or bright light comes through. Windshield has appearance of very old glass. Accident feared.

Consumer was driving when a stone barely touched the windshield and cracked the windshield.

Vehicle rolls backwards on any sort of incline. The transmissions will not hold the car on a hill even when the transmission is in drive. Dealer stated this was a "normal operating condition. The transmission has zero drag for best gas mileage and is not designed to hold car without throttle pressure. " the dealer has not been able to correct this problem.

Windshield was scratched when bought. Dealer try to polish out but couldn't so replaced windshield with oem glass. Replaced glass has extreme distortion and waviness when look out towards rearview mirror and passenger side. Took back to dealer and they ordered new windshield. Had same distortion. Dealer ordered more windshields and had same distortions. Contacted Toyota customer service. Now customer service and area rep telling me all Toyota Camrys have this distortion in glass and is considered a "common item" instead of a defect. Have checked aftermarket glass and most seems to have some distortions to a varying degree. This distortion is not just at the edge of the windshield and is distracting when driving and could possibly affect safety. Is this a common problem in new vehicles? my previous vehicles did not have this distortion. Glass technician calls it "cross grain distortion".

While driving the vehicle pulls to the left lane. Also, while braking the vehicle pulls to left which may cause an accident. Been to dealer several, cannot determine problem. In addition, when the window is wet the occupant cannot see through the window. Please provide details.

Consumer is having problems with fumes on the front windshield that fog up theconsumer's view while driving. Consumer has contacted the dealer.

The windshield was very hard to keep clean. There was a film that would not dissolve. It was constantly dirty. The owner had tried many cleaning solutions, however there was no improvement. Provide further details. . . . . . .

Back windshield shattered.

Headlights are aimed, making it difficult to see. Windshield sparkles, causing it to blind the consumer.

There is distortion in the windshield. When driving during the daytime. This causes a terrible strain on driver's eyes, and results in headaches. The dealer has been notified, but is not sure what can be done to solve this problem.
